  1. I have UHC as well. No problems. Approved on 1st attempt and I have no medical issues on paper other than a BMI > 40 for over 5 years. So my surgeon wrote so nicely that we were trying to avoid medical issues in the future. No appeals, just an easy road. My process was less than 3 months. I got sleeved on July 21, so I haven't seen a bill yet, but we had already met our deductible prior to the surgery. I'm not expecting much of a bill at this point. The best to all of you!

    African American vsgers!

Yeah!! Congrats to the new comers and way to go to all who have started the journey. Sleeved on July 21st--23 lbs down, but at a stall--hope it moves on next week! I'm okay with it tho, because I'm more excited about my break up with food:). I'm mentally ready to see food as substance to live, and not something to over indulge in. Best wishes!
  3. I'm sorry to those of you who are having problems. Hope it passes sooner than later. Glad to hear all the good news. Anyone else hit that dreaded early stall? I hit mine at 2 weeks(I'm 2 weeks 3 days out). It sucks, especially since I'm still on soft foods(not even at eggs yet). But, I've been reassured it will pass within a week or 2.

    July sleevers?

Hey gang--just checking in. Congrats to those who finished us out in July. I just hit 2 weeks and 3 days--I'm at a stall---anyone else hit that first stall in week 2?
  5. This was a great post as I just went through this yesterday and sharing with my husband how I had finally had my "break-up" moment with food. I'm only 2 weeks and a few days post op, but it hit when I was out with my children, and have not been able to order from any of my favorite places, but felt good about it. It's definitely a mental game. If you get your thoughts in the right place, it helps. I told my mom yesterday that food is now what it was meant for, substance just to live, not my best friend and closest confidant.
  6. So happy for you! Thanks for sharing your amazing journey!

    Blood thinners ...

I went home with a 30 day script, but at 1 week appt, doc took me off of them because I'm not at risk for clotting. It seems to just be a part of the routine.
  8. Okay gang, I think I've already hit the "not hungry" stage. It's too early for this, especially just getting to enjoy soups. Anyone else having trouble? It's definitely making it hard to get my protein and water in.

    Sleeved on 7/20/15

Congrats!! I was sleeved the day after you, and I started my next stage on yesterday. I've tried soft grits and today mashed potatoes. No issues, but my doctor also allowed Protein drinks in the first week, so I felt like if I could drink those successfully, I would not have problems as we move along. I've noticed sooo many versions of length of time and diets based on location and Doctor, so I follow the ones provided to me, which are a lot less strict than others had. For ex, my pre-op included one meal a day, 2 Protein shakes. Others post they are all liquid. It gets confusing, but I found it best to follow my given instructions and maybe tweak here and there . I've had no problems and Doctor says I look great and I'm on track . Best wishes to you on the journey!

9 days out, 8 oz of soup?

had my first sip of soup yesterday to ease into the stage 2...I felt 100 times stronger, lol. So glad that people are doing well around the same amount of time as i am--1 week post-op today. 1st appt. tomorrow!
  17. I was sleeved on 7/21--same problem. I've used the percocet to fall asleep as well. It's only been a week today since my sleeve. Praying it gets better. I'm NOT a pill popping person.

    July Sleever

The liquid diet is about all you can stand post op. I haven't been able to fully reach the goals yet, but each day, as swelling goes down, I'm able to take in more. I don't feel hungry, except when I first wake up. Maybe that's from the hours of not having anything. My surgeon also allows Protein shakes post op. I'm slowly able to now get 8oz in within an hour. That helps with the energy for sure. My pain, I like to describe it as doing crunches for a few days, and being sore. Eventually, it completely goes away. I was able to stop pain pills after 1st night home. But, I'm typically have a high tolerance for pain. It will vary person to person. Good vibes to you. Don't be nervous. It will be over before you know it and you'll start seeing the weight fall in the first week after the bloating from the IV goes down. I'm too nervous to measure, but I can definitely tell its dropping
  22. Same surgery day as you. No BM, but gas from my toot finally started last night. I'm not expecting much to happen this week...staying positive as long as I feel good. Will find out at post op appt. Good luck!
  23. That encouraged me to make it at a dinner next week. I'm only 4 days post op--the struggle of smelling the yummy food is real, but I'm determined to win! Thanks for sharing!

    Gas Pain HELP!

Had my surgery on the 21st---I could hardly wait to get home and get a gas x gas strip. I only needed them the 2 days(day and 1/2) home. I guess my body needed a jump start. Walking did help move the pain, but that strip did it for me. Good luck! We are a day apart, I'm much more comfortable once that gas was able to move more freely and out of my body. Now, my gas is the typical gas.
  25. I had an approval in less than 2 weeks after all required information was submitted.
