They're probably trying to see what your levels are naturally after surgery before they make recommendations for vitamins etc -
I had my surgery on Monday and everything went well.... Apparently after surgery I cursed out my nurse cause of the pain lol but she forgave me ...I got home today and I'm doing fine ... My incision on my right is a lot more sore than the rest

I'm not gonna lie this pre op diet is harder than I thought. My doctor has me on an all liquid high protein diet and I can't stand it!! I have Isopure Whey isolate and it's pretty good but I'm getting sick of it lol I also hate soups of any kind lol. I though I was getting off easy by only having to do it for a week but I'm still struggling!! What's helped some of you through your rough patch?

"But you're so young" and other things that piss me off.

Honestly it's something that comes with the territory ... Ppl don't picture 20 year olds having weight loss surgery it's typically people in their mid 30s and up. My own brother asked me " don't you think you can do it on your own?" I when I finally told him (my surgery is Feb 15 and I told him last week) It's just something that comes along with the territory unfortunately. As long as you're happy with your decision it doesn't matter what everyone thinks. -
My doc only required 7days for pre up diet so I start Monday ... I've got all my protein vitamins and etc ready tho lol

Thanks for the post !!! I'm on my preop journey and this was one of my questions that I was too afraid to ask my DR. As far as the sex drive is concerned I would think that's natural considering weight loss gives you more energy...lol Congrats on your weight loss so far

You're right Lexie... Another thing that has bothered me thru the whole process is that there is very little information for young adults going thru the surgery especially for men... I am glad I found this group tho

So I'm a 23 yo male that's 5'9" and weight 328.6 lbs. I've been going thru the processes with my insurance for about 3 months and I've found it to very helpful and informative. While I'm excited about the process of becoming a new and lighter me, I'm a little afraid of what comes with that. For one I'm afraid of the actual surgery. I've never had a broken bone or anything as a child so I've never had to have a surgery of any kind And second I'm afraid of the loose skin that comes with the weight loss ... My initial thoughts is to run the gym after healing and strength train to build muscle to prevent as much skin as possible. If someone post up can share experience it would be much appreciated.

For my insurance it's a pretty lengthy process as well.... 1) attend a Bariatric class 2) get blood work done for endocrinologist 3) attend appointments with behavioral health and nutritionist ( they determine how many appts I'll need but generally it's 4-6 for each) 4) both the behavioral health and nutritionist will send letters to the endocrinologist stating I'm cleared for surgery 5) set up an appointment with the surgeon for preop evaluation 6) schedule surgery I took the Bariatric class back in Feb but I wasn't able to schedule appointments with behavioral health and nutritionist until end of May and early June respectively. I've been cleared by behavioral health and should be cleared by nutritionist at the end of September. Hope that's helpful
