Insurance gave Dr wrong coverage info?!
Risabe replied to jenjackson's topic in Insurance & Financing
I just want to say that I am SO sorry this is happening to you. I hope and pray it will work out. If you self-pay your insurance they really owe you bigtime, and even if you don't I think they should follow through. That isn't right to do to a customer. -
Hello from Spouse of Sleever in London
Risabe replied to Gerry McCafferty's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hi there! Nice people on here. As for supporting your wife, just know it can be a little tough at first. I was super sore and weak for about three weeks following my surgery. I am an insulin dependant diabetic but I healed pretty quick. Hope your wife heals rapidly as well and welcome! -
Feeling miserable and weak
Risabe replied to ylluz's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am am five weeks yesterday and I am just starting to get over having "trembly hands"! I am also an insulin dependant diabetic using a pump and the low blood sugar is making me feel weak a lot but at three weeks I was just starting to come out of the 'haze'. Hang on! You'll get better! -
I read through your trials and tribulations just after I had my surgery. I am so sorry to hear this latest development. You have been through enough. You will be in my prayers. Our God is a great God, and through him all things are possible. Bless you.

BariActiv chewable multivitamins - strong reaction (empty stomach?)
Risabe replied to no onions's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
I got on these things through the appointment with a nutritionist back in April. While I didn't have surgery until this week, this stuff started coming monthly in May. Now that I am trying to use them (started prior to surgery) I find them absolutely repulsive! They are too big, too citric, too dry... just awful. The only thing I can bear are the weekly nasal Nascobal. I think I am gonna cut my losses and find something that will not make me gag and heave each time I have to take them. PLUS you have to take 2 at a time, twice a day, and at least two hours away from Iron. I'm a teacher going back to work in three weeks. If I am getting nauseous that much every day, let's just say that ain't cool. Looks like others are not pleased with this stuff either. Sorry I didn't do my own research on this one... I've got threefour months of the things sitting here. -

Still miserable begging for advice
Risabe replied to brandeett's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Just posted to a similar comment elsewhere. I got my sleeve done Monday the 27th and I thought afterward I had made the worst mistake of my life. They got me out trying to walk that evening and I had to shuffle along bent over I was in such pain. I'm kinda surprised you're on cream of wheat- I just tried to get down Protein shakes yesterday. In the hosp. I was on a tiny bit of broth, unjury protein Jello and a SF popsicle (God bless those popsicles!). My lungs *ached* and I cried when I had to do the breathing treatments. Got dizzy, etc (morphine might have had something to do with that). NOW I am up at 2:23 EST because my right hip is killing me and I have what feels like gas trapped under my left shoulder blade. It's been rough, but I think I can make it and so can you. Of course, it you get concerned with the pain call your DR, but I think there is a emotional pain we are dealing with that can cause physical pain as well. I have run the gamut from despair to anger to sadness to fear to you-name-it. AND hurt all the while. I don't know what kind of diet you've been given but I'm thinking that grains like you mentioned might be a little tough. I am diabetic among other things and all my pills and these *&^% Vitamins are killing me going down! In fact, late Monday night after my first meal & meds I woke up and before I could get to the bathroom I threw up. Scared me to death but I was okay. You can do this. Risa -
Surgery Wednesday still in pain?
Risabe replied to dlmacarthur's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Yes! I am up in the night right now with pain. I had my sleeve done Monday and I am not only sore on the laparo sites but my left hip is cramped up and I've still have a lot of gas pain. I just took a 2mg morphine to see if it will ease off. I wonder if mine has to do with the fact that am an insulin dependent diabetic (using a pump 5-plus years) and already had a lot of aches and pain to begin with. Or maybe I am just a wimp. This week has been tough but I feel as if I've come a long way. Risa -
Cheated on liquid diet
Risabe replied to jppaul16438's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I did too! I went in this Wed. for my pre-op appt and the Dr. asked- "Hey, you wanna go next Monday instead of August 3rd?" I said I would and they started me on that Cabbage Soup diet that was supposed to be so great a few years back. AKA The Miami Heart Institute Diet, AKA Sacred Heart Diet, supposedly for people having heart surgery, blah blah.Well, it was 3:30 when I got outta there so I went and bought all this junk to make the soup and the bizarre things you could eat with it. That meant 4 and 1/3 actual days on the 7 day plan. Did fine until today I went to lunch with my husband thinking I could eat a salad (it is soup and all the vegetables and fruit you could eat day: what IS this diet?). I fell apart and had MANICOTTI. And it was good. Now I am scared I am gonna have an enormous liver. I am diabetic AND have HBP AND high cholesterol AND Irritable Bowel Syndrome (lemme tell you: cabbage soup and IBS do NOT play well with one another!) Have a I screwed the pooch and need to fess up for Monday? Or do I shut up and see what happens? Almost seems a moot point since I have not followed the diet for the prescribed amount of days, and it's not a liquid diet at that. What's it all about, Alphie?
