What are the first foods to try in week 4
amandastearns replied to CVanPelt's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would honestly prepare to be mostly drinking protein shakes at that point. I was allowed to eat at 3 weeks post op (soft foods) but for the first two months shakes felt the best in my new stomach. I really liked eggs (scrambled or deviled), canned chicken with light mayo, yogurt with flavorless protein. -
I have the implant in my arm (nexolanon) and I had it 3 years before surgery. I love it pre op and post op!

Which blender should I get?
amandastearns replied to AuntJoJo64's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I went to target and got a small one similar to the nutribullet. It was obviously a lot cheaper and I don't use it often. I use premiere protein because it has only 1 G sugar and 30 G protein in 11 oz. I love that I can just keep them in the fridge and grab and go. -
The only thing that worked for me is cutting simple carbs out, and stop eating pastas, breads ect. This is obviously a lot easier post op.
-
My nut does not let me count protein in my fluid intake. It gets easier. Although drinking (maybe it be protein, water, or G2) is seriously like a full time job. I'm almost 7 months post op and I meet all my goals.

I have Cigna as well and it didn't even take a week. I went for my weight and date (hadn't been approved yet) and scheduled it for 2 weeks out. I was approved very fast.

Nausea today after feeling great
amandastearns replied to kadie777's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It happens. Some days I just feel ick, for lack of a better word. Here and there I have days that food is not appealing and I want nothing to do with anything. Those days I stick to liquid and give my body what it wants. It could be anything though, a stomach bug or you could just be off. I wouldn't worry too much till it's a persistent thing. -
Help asap seeking information on foods
amandastearns replied to husbandperry's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was on clear liquids for the first 3 days, then the next two weeks all liquids (mainly protein shakes), the next two weeks purée food or mushy foods, then after that in morse ration most foods that aren't carbs and then eased my way in to meats such as chicken breast ect. She really needs to take it slow and trust the process. -
The heating pad was my best friend. It helped so much with the gas and discomfort. Feel better!

I took 3 weeks and needed every day. Im a bank teller. The pain was for about a week but I then had other issues with vitamins, vomiting, and discomfort after. I was also always tired so the three weeks was perfect time

I'm 4 months post op and I have recently had gallbladder issues. I should be getting mine removed shortly. -
Fast weight loss?
amandastearns replied to This-is-my-journey's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My first week post op I lost 14 pounds. 14 pounds in 7 days frightened me a bit and my surgeon said enjoy it while it last. And now in losing slower for sure. I've lost 60 pounds in about 4 months. -
Almost a week Post Op: not lost a single pound?
amandastearns replied to Mjohnson4631's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I wouldn't stress either because you have no idea how much weight you gained in the hospital with the IV. -
I had subway. My love for carbs is real and I knew I wouldn't be able to eat a sandwich for a while if ever

Options! I need options!
amandastearns replied to scampbell33's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I loved deviled eggs at that stage! Sorry that's not a good suggestion but I didn't eat much at that stage, eggs and canned chicken were my go too. -
How much post-surgical pain should I expect?
amandastearns replied to leebick's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had some pain but nothing unbearable. I took pain medicine for about a week and a half post op (only while sleeping). Sleeping was very uncomfortable. But it's nothing too crazy. I vacuumed my whole house the day I came home from surgery and feel as though I over did it. As long as you listen to your body and take it easy you be okay! -
Did you tell people you were considering weight loss surgery?
amandastearns replied to kembfly's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I told a very selects few pre op because I didn't want to hear people's opinions on the subject. I feel as though there is a major stigma around the topic and I didn't want to hear the stories people had to offer (good or bad). Now I love telling people. -
Weight loss stall
amandastearns replied to sanjumelts's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My three week stall lasted forever (almost 3 weeks lol). Stay focused on the program and it'll break. During my stall the scale did not move but my body was chafing. I lost inches but no weight. Stay hydrated and meet all your goals. Increasing my protein intake is what broke mine. Best of luck! -
Heating pad after surgery?
amandastearns replied to funkhousered's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The heating pad was my best friend!! I used it for a good month or so post op. Helped with gas pains and just regular healing discomfort. Hope you feel better soon!!! -
I use alive multi (bariatric multi's make me sick), bariatric advantage calcium, and celebrate iron. Premier protein is my go too for protein but you can always go to whatever store and get samples to make sure you like it.

How long does it usually take from first consultation to surgery date?
amandastearns replied to mmcharm's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It took my just about 6 months. First appointment was late August and my surgery date was middle of February. -
Very normal. Call your doctor to get some medicine no need to suffer!
-
The goal is 105 for me. I normally exceed goal because I'm scared of most hair loss.

Kinda Concerned
amandastearns replied to SlimmerMe89's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 7 weeks post op and often still lack interest in eating. For a few weeks (2-5 weeks post op) I felt like eating was a chore. I'm literally eating to survive, and that's kind of how it should be. Now I feel hungry once in awhile and it's nice to know I'm still human. You'll start feeling your new normal soon. -
Post Surgery Home Care
amandastearns replied to SamBwaR3's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My wonderful husband was kind enough to take the first week off. I didn't need him, honestly, but it was very nice to have him there for company. Also, it was nice to have someone to walk with. A day or two just to be safe but after that you'll be fine!
