    After Surgery Food

Attached were my post op instruction. I made sure to have a few sugar free jello/pudding on hand, crystal light, plenty of Water, one chicken broth, and some premiere Protein that I like. Don't over buy! One Protein shake last me a day or sometimes more. You'll do great!
  3. My surgeon was ready for me to go home after one night in the hospital but I couldn't get down the required liquid. Ended up staying two nights in the hospital. I felt like it was necessary because of the risk of dehydration. My pain was fine and I could move well. List to your body. Don't force down liquid or over do yourself. You'll get home when you're ready! Best of luck tomorrow!

    Pain and Pain medications

I went home with liquid OxyContin and only used as needed. I was given a ten day supply. there should be no need to worry about addition. Most of my paid is gas and gas x and a heating pad did wonders.

    What to get before surgery?

Heating pad, ice packs, plenty of gas x strips for after, Chapstick, protein( not only shakes but flavorless gene pro to add to anything), and one the sugar free jello/pudding or broth you can have. Don't buy your tastes may change

    Must have pre-op shopping list

I made sure to have one thing of broth, one of each flavor sugar free jello/pudding I like, a few juices I liked (first three days post op were regular clear juice for me), some Protein (not only shakes but flavorless gene pro protein that can be added to anything), Chapstick, heating pad, and plenty of ice packs. I also made sure my house was stocked with whatever my husband would need so he wouldn't have to go to the store I didn't know how I would be feeling. also, I'm a fellow Maryland resident! I had my surgery at northwest hospital!

    What would you do different?

Thank you for the advice! I don't know, but didn't the heating pad hurt your incisions? And I just remembered I need to check my ice pack situation! Thanks!I actually found the heating pad more enjoyable. I kept it on low and it helped the gas out for some reason. I wasn't told not to use is so I assumed it was okay. You could always ask your doctor! My incisions don't have much pain. The swollen and bloating is what seems to be painful. You'll see the one larger one, where my stomach seemed to be most swollen and painful (not particularly at the incision but around it as well), and five other small ones I haven't had much issue with.
  8. My doctor said its how the person is feeling. She hopes to have me back to work at two weeks out. But you will qualify for short term disability after two weeks I believe.
  9. I had no pre op diet and was instructed to eat normally the day before my surgery. Obviously, nothing to eat or drink past midnight. Although I had no pre op diet I did have to continuously try and lose weight every day before surgery. Every doctor is different and you need to listen to them. I would continuously call them for proper instructions.

    Surgery day

Sadly, I wasn't able to use my gas x strips or any dry mouth spray. The hospital had a mouth rise that was so wonderful and I would suggest to ask for that pre op. Also Chapstick was wonderful.

    Weight gain

During my six months of meeting with my NUT I had continuously went up and down. But once it got down to surgery time they told me I had to keep at least 7 lbs off for them to feel comfortable doing the surgery. Just be sure to do what they suggested or post op will be horrible
  12. I don't have to be to the hospital for a few hours and of course I woke up early. I'm feeling a bunch of crazy emotions that I wasn't expecting. The anxiety and hungry are getting the best of me and I'm just ready to be post op! This 6 months flew by and I'm so thankful for the experience. I'm a little worried about pain management post op, but other than that we're good to go!

    What would you do different?

Make sure you have a heating pad and ice packs for your stomach. Also, I've had extreme nausea so make sure you have medicine on hand just in case.
  14. I was also sleeved on the 18. The water was very difficult for me, but is slowly getting better. Make sure you're walking for the gas pain. And I'm taking the smallest sips. Thursday and Friday were very rough for me but I woke up today feeling much better.

    Hospital bag....what do I need?

I was sleeved on 2/18 and I'm getting discharged today and I honestly didn't use anything I packed for the most part. I would suggest a hair tie for women with log hair and Chapstick. I was unable to use gas x I brought and didn't wear any of my clothes. You're going to do great!

Today is the day I get sleeved, FINALLY!

The only complaints are the leak test was horrible, nausea can get overwhelming at times, and they won't let me take gas X for the pain.

    Vitamins, Vitamins, and more Vitamins

Thank you all so much! I did order the nutrameteix multi and calcium. The big day is Thursday and I'm trying to get all my cleaning and shopping in order!

    Vitamins, Vitamins, and more Vitamins

Rking, they give you a perception for all of those? My doctor said I had to get them personally. Jamie, my doctor said they want me to take either liquid or chewable. I was thinking about doing the nutrameteix because I would only have to drink it once a day and it would be in the morning. I like the idea of only taking it once a day.
  20. I got my date this week and it's coming so fast! I have so many emotions going on, I don't really know how to react. My surgery obviously has been submitted to my insurance (Cigna) and I'm terrified I'll be getting bad news. I lucked out and I don't need to do a pre-op diet but I was instructed to continue trying to lose weight. Is there any other sleevers close to my surgery date?
  21. I'm roughly four months into my process and my insurance is switching to Cigna. I have just about all my pre-op testing done and spoke with my doctors office and they said they might be able to submit me next month. Apparently, Cigna sometimes only has a 3 month weight? I'm curious if anyone else has Cigna insurance? What was your out of pocket cost of what Cigna didn't cover? And anything about the wait time/approval for surgery?
  22. My doctor and I plan on submitting to my insurance Thursday. I'm having an issue losing the last few lbs. and suggestions?
  23. How long was your wait? When did you start the program?
  24. Today the doctor finally called and scheduled my first appointment to see him and the nutritionist. It's about a week away and I'm so anxious and ready! Although, per the doctors requirements any surgery date won't be for at least six months. Did any else's doctor have a similar requirement? Some people seem to get in so fast and not have much of a wait time.
