  1. My surgery is scheduled for 2/18/16 and I'm trying to get everything ready for my big day. I was instructed to order my post op Vitamins and it's so hard to decide. What vitamins is everyone else on? Also, any suggestions on things I should keep in my house that I will want post op? Trying to be as prepared as possible!

    Hungry all the time!

How long do you wait to start drinking again? I have realized if I start drinking too soon it'll flush my stomach and I'll feel hungry more often. Also, when I actually feel hungry I make sure to eat something high protein (protein bar most of the time) to make sure to stay full.

    Nutritionist ?

They will not deny you if you lose weight depending on your bmi. The point of meeting with the NUT is to get you mentally and physically prepared for surgery and eating post op.

    Need advice

Military spouse here. My husband is about to be deployed in October ( not our first or probably last deployment). He's made silly little comments about me "hurting" him on deployment, or some how sneaking around. When obviously that's not who we are and we've never been that. And we just had to have some serious conversation about it. He believes I have more "options" now. And maybe your husband does as well? I just reassured him and reminded him that were in this together. I hope it works out!

    I made a mistake!

The early stages of the program are all about letting your new belly heal. How I've always thought about it, if I wouldn't give it to a small Child then I wouldn't give to to my childlike belly. Get back to your plan and stay focused!

How fast do you see results

For my 1 week check up I lost 14 pounds and I could see some difference in my clothes. Nothing too crazy. But about 1-2 months out was when it sank in.

Why did you choose VSG over bypass?

Less likely for dumping, less vitamins (typically), no rerouting of my organs, and I didn't have any comorbidites.
  8. I have the implant so it was impossible to stop it. My doctors just gave me extra blood thinner while in the hospital and made sure I stayed on top of my activity. If I hadn't had the implant my doctor would have taken me off it prior.

    Acid belly

I always keep gas x on me!!! Also, my surgeon put me on a PPI that helps.

When is it a good time to eat noodle

I'm only 6 weeks post op and was told by my number no carbs till 3 months post op (at minimum). I would even suggest try making zoodles (zucchini noodles)! I have a zoodle maker and any time my husband has noodles I made my own.

    Energy drinks

I personally haven't had any of these being at I'm 6 weeks post op. But I do follow many on Instagram and know plenty of barbaric patients that's drink the sugar free options (regularly even). As long as you're getting in 64 oz of water the day before, day off, and day after. Just stay hydrated because these dehydrate quickly.

    Theme Park strategies

Try some protein bars and try to find a turkey leg or something in the park! But you could also stop at the vitamin shop and pick up any of the yummy snacks packed with protein. Lenny and Larry's cookies with 16 g of protein, protein chips, protein gummies, veggies, Apple and peanut butter... Or bring an apple sauce and add a scoop of genepro protein to it.

    Fatigue/dizziness/lightheaded

All of the above answer are things you need to take into check into. I'm 6 weeks post op and still find I have this issue sometimes (especially first thing in the morning). I ask my doctor and they didn't seem too conceded. I'm just taking it slow and listening to my body.

    bloating after surgery

I was bloated well into my second week post op. It all depends on how much you walk and how soon you go to the bathroom. The heating pad helped me a lot with bloating and gas!

    What's my next step

I contracted my surgeon myself. They had me fill out some paperwork to see if I qualified. I would just contact a surgeon and see what you need to do.
  16. I'm 5 weeks post op and I have this issue. Smells have increased and a lot of thugs bother me. My doctors have been great giving me medicine to assist this. I have this issue with vitamins pre op and post op. It's been a trial and error process but I wouldn't have it any other way. I can calm my nausea (in moderation) with sugar free mints. I've only vomited twice post op. I wouldn't stress too much about this, you'll figure out what works for you post op!
  17. Sassycat, I have not tried that but I always buy genepro (flavor and scentless) with 30g and add it to my fluids when needed. I've been having a hard time with protein and now my levels are low and required to get 105gm of protein daily. Adding this to my fluids really helps. I buy it on amazon and it can be added to anything! I also add it to my yogurt!

    Hunger?

This could also be acid in your stomaching stimulating a hunger feeling. I had this directly after surgery and once on a PPI the hunger feeling went away. I'm 5 weeks post op and really get hungry. Once again, everyone is different so you could be experiencing genuine hunger.
  19. Sounds like your on track. It's not expect for you to get that my fluid in your tiny stomach. It's a gradual transition. I still have this issue 5 weeks post op. I try my hardest and just keep drinking. I doubt you'll get dehydrated too bad. Just stay focused and you'll do great!
  20. Just like everyone said the gas x strips were God sent for me. Nothing helped other than those! Best of luck.

    Tomorrows the BIG day!

Congrats and enjoy every step of this wonder journey! You'll do wonderful. Stay focused and keep reminding yourself why you're making this choice. You'll be losing in no time!

    Pre-op anxiety

You'll do great tomorrow! I was able to drink within about 24 hours. My surgery was mid day and the following morning I took my leak test and was given water. You'll do wonderful!
  23. How are the smoothies?

    How long with Cigna

I had a letter after four business days. I didn't even have to call. But I knew I had bariatrics covered on my plan. My surgeon and I scheduled my surgery date and everything prior to approval.
