Day 8 post op.... Im lucky because I haven't had any complications. I've been keeping my liquids down. My pain is getting much better. The only thing I must say is.... I'm so incredibly tired... granted I did alot today... I'm driving... I ran three errands and then did a bunch of my DIY (its a side job) .... I feel like I could nap forever. Is this normal... My mom says I have purple circles under my eyes... Is this normal. Is it just because the liquid diet is maybe not meant to go so long?

Ok so I'm on post op day 5. I've been keeping up with my walking and it has been getting progressively easier. Today I decided hitting up barnes and noble would be no big deal!! Well it wasn't .... for a few minutes that is.... then suddenly my purse began to weigh on my shoulder, the tenderness in my abdomen began to ache, I couldnt find anywhere to sit and so i ended up on my feet walking (albeit it slowly) for 30 minutes.... when i got back in my car i was so disappointed i told my dad i was in pain and that I over estimated my capability... he said thats okay and that he thought i was doing extremely Despite the kind words I'm quite bummed about my situation. I can't wait to get to phase 2 full liquids so i can start on the Protein intake... protein will speed up my recovery Im sure of it. 3 years ago I had an arm surgery and when i upped my protein intake.. I noticed a large change in how i felt. I'd like to know how everyones progressing with their walking, movement, and over all healing process! Let me know =)

oh my goodness... what crap. its like insurance makes it difficult on purpose so that you quit and they don't have to pay out..... Try not to worry and be persistent you will get this done. I have another friend whose going thru this and is in the process of paperwork like you she has cigna. Her issue is in January her deductible goes back to zero and she doesnt have the thousands to pay out of pocket to meet it for the surgery. So shes on a deadline for anytime before JAnuary. It's hard shes on top of everything to the point of annoying .... thats how its gonna get done. Do not be discouraged. NOVEMBER 5TH Ill have positive thoughts for you. I'm on Clear Liquids at least until i see my nutritionist friday then ill probably be on ALL liquids... so theyll add like milk and Protein shakes... not that exciting pero bueno... better than nothing. Friday i also get my staples out... im hoping its not painful... everything online says its like uncomfortable tugging but not pain. FINGERS CROSSED.

Walking Post Op
StephOnTheMove replied to StephOnTheMove's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wow this is inspiring! I feel alot better. You know what they say you are your toughest critic. I'm just happy to know im not alone and that this is standard. I keep thinking also that im drinking so much fluids i must be over doing it... but today i measured it and... im on 16 ounces... and its 8pm.... fail. I'm going to work on that as well. Good luck and Great Job to all my post op-ers you inspire me =)! And KIwi don't push the Protein before you're allowed... It might get stuck or be too much for your stomach to handle. wait for clearance! <3 -
well i know the support group is only once a month.... so are mine.. but im hoping if i go ill find someone who i can connect with and feel comfortable giving my phone number too so that maybe during the weeks when u dont have support meetings you can hangout or maybe just text or talk.... or maybe go out and distract yourself from all the pain... see a movie? Idk just ideas. I can't imagine the pain you have been thru... but know that you are not alone. many of people on here have had some pretty ugly complications. and even those of us who havent... we are on ur journey. personally i think your doctors maybe jumped the gun on the solid foods... sure its ur 8th week but you have had so many issues that you probably have to go much slower... i'd stick to the mushy foods phase... and give ur body time to heal from all its been thru... i believe you are on the mend and you will eventually not have those issues with solid food. <3 Continue fighting even when you don't want to.... you've already survived so much. it is only going to be better from here.

Well I'm officially Post op! I had my surgery October 1 and last night was my first night home. It was a nightmare! I'm used to sleeping on my stomach and turning frequently ... Well at some point I must have turned and I couldn't get up because the pain was so bad. I literally thought I was going to have to call rescue to get me out of bed.... Has anyone ever tried to get up from bed without using their core?!? It's virtually impossible. Finally after an hour of panic pain and tiny shifts I got to a better position .... When I woke up this morning .... Again it took me 20-30 minutes to figure out the least painful way to get out of bed. Needless to say I will be sleeping down stairs on my recliner for the duration of this recovery. Last nights awful experience aside I've been doing pretty well. I walk as much as possible and I've been doing my best to take in the sufficient amount of fluids. So far I don't haven't much of an appetite which is so strange to see food around me and not even really miss it. Don't get me wrong I have my moments .... Especially when I smell a food Like pizza ... But I'm not currently mourning things like I assumed I would be. tiny miracles!! I see my Dr and nutritionist Friday and I am praying to the good lord I'll be moved to phase 2 of the liquid diet! broth Jello and juice gets boring quickly. Fingers crossed!!! I'm saying prayers for all of my fellow surgery brothers and sisters and all those pre-opees with/without dates. Keep fighting. <3 - Steph

Sleeping comfortably after surgery
StephOnTheMove replied to LadyReyven's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm exiled to my recliner... im five days post op and yesterday was my first night home... IT WAS A DISASTER.... I LAID IN bed and somehow landed on my stomach in excruciating pain but was too sore/tender to roll over without causing even more pain .... it was so bad at one point i thought iwas going to end up calling fire rescue .... my dad helps though and about 30 minutes later i got to my back... come morning on my back... i had to figure out once more how to get out of my bed without using my core..... needless to say im traumatized.... so the couch it is. and possibly a full body pillow... or pregnancy pillow...... its good to know im not alone! <3 -

2 wks post rny and feeling like it's a mistake
StephOnTheMove replied to sshield8's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I know it's been said already by others but repetition and validation are key here. YOU HAVE NOT SCREWED EVERYTHING UP. just a small slip. It's normal. We aren't robots. My surgeon even said at the group information meeting that everyone will cheat at some point... ( he was referencing that after the cheating we would experience dumping and never ever want to cheat again) cheating happens but it doesn't define you or your journey. You already lost such a great amount of weight! You aren't alone in wondering if surgery was a mistake... ive heard of alot of people who've freaked out and "Regretted" it at some point.... part of the reason for that was ....rapid weight loss was wreaking havoc on their moods. happy sad anxious mad.... it was like PMS on steroids. the other part was that surgery took away their control. the surgery kind of forces us to change.... no take backs. who wouldn't resent that at times?? I believe in you. I also believe this is just a rough patch and that you're going to be so much happier soon. not to mention healthier. Thanks for posting!!!! GodBless. <3 -
