I'm a little weirded out by the 'mallow/ritz combo -- are you sure that's good?!?!? ............. Give it to Mikey -- he hates everything...................He likes it! He likes it! Sorry, just slipped back to 1976 for a minute there -- all this talk of marshmallows and ritz crackers puts me in mind of "mock apple pie" and chicken a la king...........time warp!

Yes!! Exactly! IF we did all this stuff without the band we would lose weight. The band just makes it easier to do -- makes you lesss hungry and satiated faster. That is the whole revelation that needs to be made upon getting banded.....IT HELPS us. It's not magic just somehow causing weight loss within us. It just makes dieting easier for us, and therefore we can retrain our eating habits. I came to this realization a few months after being banded and it was like a revelation. Now I look back and I don't know why it was such a "novel idea" seems so obvious now duh!!!

The thing we get the most mileage out of is: "rattle rattle?" We say this to each other when we think the other one might be mad. Basically it's like are you rattling like a rattle snake right now -- a warning before the vicious attack? It's alot easier and slightly less confrontational than saying what the hell is your problem!?!?!? There are others, but alot less helpful (body part names --- twink & pom poms) or how we call a steak & cheese sub "meat sandwich" b/c my son HATES steak, but loves "meat sandwich". Alot of them only stick around a few weeks, but rattle rattle? has been here since the start!

You look great! It's so funny.... When my weight loss slowed down (oh, ok, stopped for a few months) that's when I got the most compliments -- I think the shapes & inches were rearranging themselves. Maybe you'll be pleasantly surprised during your plateau like I was !!! I think inches make a bigger difference than pounds anyways. You look absolutely gorgeous, congratulations and keep on losing! -
Welcome to the banded side of life & congrats....btw, just how many kids IS lost of kids?

I'm scared. Mine is evil it says: my son who is sick of being overdisciplined attacks me in my sleep with a knife and stabs me repeatedly. Charming. My son has ADHD and I feel like I am always all over him. This rings a little too true! Gee thanks for sharing NJChick -- can I sleep at your house tonight?

I'm gonna try that test -- wouldn't the water dilute through out the cottage cheese though? Oh well, at least it would be a ball park amount. Even though my weight loss is continuing, I feel like I may eat too much at one sitting. I can easily eat 1.5-2 cups of food -- no prob. -
Have fun Nykee! Happy happy birthday

Question about what I need for after surgery
bandayed replied to lady29bug's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hey ladybug -- when will you have your surgery, and where? Hope you insurance comes through soon! You need liquid tylenol and a pill crusher too...just my 2 favs............you also mind as well invest in a good blender if you don't already have one. The protein shakes are totally yuck unless blended and during the liquid phase you can blend up soups etc.......rather than just plain broth. Godd luck & welcome! -
Hi Rainbow -- had my surgery at BIDMC too, but Dr Schneider. The program is great! When are you having surgery?

I had no hair loss at all until 3 months and then I lost atleast 60% or my hair in the front on either side (like a man with a receeding hair line). I couldn't wear it pulled back anymore since it looked so bad. Now, at 7 months the area is regrowing and I have hair there that is about 1.5" long......This happened after I had my kids too. I still do loose some hair, but not at the rate it was going at 3-5 months, and for the record, I take 2 Biotin tabs daily-- I do think it helps..............

I had a restriction increase from flying that lasted about 48 hours after landing. It took me about 24 hours to realize what was going on since I was eating a little differently on vacation. Then on the 2nd morning I had trouble with a yogurt and I said .....Wait a minute.....(duh) light dawns on Marble Head.....then suddenly the next afternoon I was just back at "normal"......notice I use normal in quotes

I have a crazy question for you!

My insurance Co was billed $27,000 for everything including 2 nights in the hospital. Not sure what they say for self pay, but I think you're right, it's a different amount. I've noticed on my ins statements that the Dr usually bills one amount to the ins co then there is something called and "agreement amount" that is deducted which, by the way, is usually more than HALF the original amount....then insurance pays the rest. I think that private care is actually MORE than what the insurance Co pays. I think they look at it as a volume discount kinda thing and give the insurance co a break.....hmmmm seems awfully close to payola to me!!!! -
There were times during liquids only phase that I thought I would loose it. It is very hard. You are doing a GREAT job. 11 days with only one choice is a feat!!! Soon you'll be banded and reaping the rewards. Right now it's like you said it's not just the boring/yucky shakes it's also the whole retraining. Goodbye to emotional eating, what do you do with all the time you used to spend in the kitchen, all the time snacking too.......It is a very difficult time and you are not weak, you are STRONG!!!!!!! Keep up the good work......and tell your daughter if she doesn't straighten up and behave you're putting her on Optifast as punishment!!!!

So funny to find this thread -- I have just had a particularly bad day with my 7 year old with ADHD. I was just thinking how he seems so great lately -- normal, mainstream, adjusted, sweet and BAM a bad patch. For the past few weeks his eating & sleeping have been disrupted again - I have no idea why, nothing has really changed. He has also been acting so immature and needy and whiny (which may be due to the change in sleep & eating). He has also been kind of sneaky and lying sometimes. He breaks rules that he knows, and usually follows without an issue. I try to be a patient facilatator for him when he's like this, but it's hard because he is so nasty to his sibs and really demanding of me & DH. Nothing we ever do is right for him in these phases, and we all suffer b/c of it. The thing I hate the most about these times is that I get really scared for him and his future and I just hope that he will develop bettter coping mechanisms so that he can have a good life.......I just find myself at wits end. Like you, his school work is so much better since starting Ritalin, but his social behavior and attitudes/moods really aren't..........YOU ARE DEFINATELY NOT ALONE
