Any news on the pups? How could someone do that!?!?! Are they OK from the cold? I think you should try to get some publicity to find the owners -- that is so mean! Thank God they found you and you are in a position to help them. Sorry for your extra work load though...............

I started 6 weeks after surgery walking about 2 miles about 3 or 4 times a week. I've graduated since then to the elliptical machine for 20 minutes, the recumbent bike or walking for a 1/2 hour or 45min total. I try to do 5 times a week. Last week, I just started weight training again. I know we all know we should do it, but figure getting in the cardio is better or more important, right? Well, I gotta tell you, after only a week and a half I can feel (and I think see) the difference already. It really helps with your posture too! So those of you that are thinking of getting into it I say go for it! It's been a long time for me since I did it, but I am so happy to be back at it -- it's kinda boring, but hey -- results are results right!?!?!?

OK, all I have to say is thank God you wore a bathing suit! You poor thing! I burned my boobies one time at the tanning salon (only b/c they were 8" closer to the bulbs than any other part of me!) Since then I usually wear clothes too! Keep cool & remember pale is pretty too :s

My daughter too put peanuts up her nose. She came running to me and when she said "Mommy I have peanuts in my nose" it sounded like penis in my nose (because she was plugged up with nuts!!!) Well, having 2 brothers I got a little nervous but then she tipped back her head and showed me what she meant! I ALSO had a today sponge incident -- no wonder they don't sell those anymore!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! On a much less exciting note....I took a nap, 2 antihistimines and then couldn't get my contacts out last week. It was so bad I allowed DH to put his fingers in my EYES! 1/2 a bottle of solution, 45 mins and a near trip to the ER, I got one out. The other took another 20 mins! This thread reminds me of that old Richard Gere rumor (and the hamster....remember?):Bunny

A young life loss is the biggest of tragedies. I know how hard it is to go through, and there is just nothing to say to justify it. Time will help you all feel better and hopefully the love and support of each other around. Your friends at LBT are obviously "here" too. Deepest sympathies and great hugs coming your way..............

I think I need to wake up to myself...OT
bandayed replied to Kelliebelly's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I think that the longer you are together, the harder it is. Throw in a couple of kids and it's down right next to impossible to capture that feeling. DH & I have learned a couple of ways around it. about 2X a year we pawn off the kids and go to a local hotel for the night (we do price line and usually get a $59 room) and then we just have at it like the old days. Sometimes we bring fun toys or lingerie, and usually wine. We just laugh and be alone and make up for lost time. This kind of intense intimacy usually carries us through the hum drum sof life with kids for the next few weeks/months. I think it is OK to feel that way AND to tell your partner that you do. Why not use it as an excuse for an adventure. Go do it in a semi public place, or lock yourselves in the bathroom for a quickie, go on the shopping trip suggested above. Just acknowledging it and doing somethin about it may give you guys a thrill itself. Your old mind just needs to catch up with your new body and DH's does too Just remember too, everything in a relationship goes through cycles -- up & down and in & out :Banane40: -
Welcome to LBT! Lots of good info here -- stick around................

glad you found your mojo!!!! enjoy it!

Hi Kryssa -- I have a similar pattern to you and just have one more bit of advice....since you have been PBing alot. Gice yourself I rest -- try to do 2 or 3 days of liquids to let any swelling settle down. Then start fresh. Do the warm drink, and try to sit straight, and eat slowly, and chew chew chew....all great advice. Remember to pat your head and rub your tummy 3 times before the next bite JK! No, seriously whenever I go through a stage like this, I go back to liquids and the warm drink really helps...............Good luck!

Jonathan...I've been reading all your ups & downs the past few months and I can't believe it happened again!?!? Best wishes and lots of LBT support coming your way. Hope the surgery affords you the choice you desire...you've come too far to stop now -- keep your chin up!

good for you berry -- are you going with Schneider or Jones? I was banded by Schneider

I'm weird -- my pug is named Silly (because he is) I think your doggie looks like a smidge or a squiggle...........that is the cutest puppy I've ever seen. She looks like a havanese too do you know what they look like? Adorable!.........

Hi afterglow -- I am about the same as you! I was banded in Oct and have lost over 45 lbs. I got a tiny 1/2 cc fill in Dec., but just b/c I was at the Dr's for follow up. I wouldn't have gone in specifically for it. My Doc said that in some people there is never the need for a fill. That they can lose 80-90% of their excess body fat without one, and only need a small one at the end. Since banding I have had times that I could only eat mushies or liquids and others that I could eat more substantial foods. I think that if you pay attention to your diet (protein intake & liquids especially) that it is OK to be where you are. You should definately let your Doc know that you can't eat hard proteins though. Buuuuutttt, jsut so you know, you're not the only one! Congrats on the weight loss!

First your monthly visitor and now a sore throat?!?!?!? Better before than after I guess! I have heard that you are OK with a slight sickness -- just no fever. What did the Doc's office say about it? Maybe you need to be a girl in a bubble for 2 weeks before surgery...........I ended up being sick with bronchitis right after my surgery. The coughing was unbearable -- so painful! I felt like I was going to pop my incisions. I would try to be a healthy as you can before going in............but if it's just a sore throat.......hmmmmmmmm

That Reminds Me Of The Calendar Girls Movie....." I Think We're Going To Need Bigger Buns..............." Did Anyone See It? Lol!

Well, welcome BACK then! Your family is lovely! I have 4 kids under 6 and that stress on my bod went a long way (but noy all the way) towards getting me here -- I'd do it all again in a heartbeat though. Your wife is a brave woman to go for it after having fought the scales! This battle is a tough one and after having put in sooooo much work I would truly have to think long and hard about another pregnancy....(Oh, don't be silly, not me, I just mean THEORETICALLY)....I know that sounds harsh, but I'm trying to reclaim my body from the fat fairy.......Anyhow, congrats on your babe, she is gorgeous -- enjoy every second!

Oh, no... not the dreaded "End of the Road" speech (<-- Lengthy)
bandayed replied to NewSho's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I just don't get this at all -- isn't the band supposed to be a life long tool? What gives surgeons the right to say you're done? I've heard if you unfill and refill the restriction is even greater....surely there's more he can do???? I think it is totally unprofessional of him to shut you off! Have you considered still working your band, but travelling to do so? Maybe there is a Dr within 100 miles that could take you on. I know I'd drive an hour or two to keep using my band as a tool......hang in there. I think your Doc is the exception rather than the rule! -
Erosion, The Real Facts
bandayed replied to Ariel Ortiz M.D. FACS's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have just finished reading this thread (after my previous post) and I have to say that the hostility is scary. Everyone has there own opinions and everyone has a right to those opinions. If you are offended by someone's remarks, please remember that it is just one person and it is just one opinion. The eroded sisters are a wealth of knowlege and LBT would not be the same with out them. The Drs also offer another lset of valuable info. And to all of us in between -- our experiences are what create the mass of the LBT wealth of knowlege. I say everyone keep it coming! Let's all take what we can from these posts and use our judgement. No one persons words are the law.......take the offerings in the spirit in which they were meant -- to be helpful. -
Penni -- all my best wishes are with you. You were one of the first people to address me at LBT and greet me with open arms. Your opinions are valid (as are others) and your emotions are valid as well. It shows a real strength of character that you started this thread rather than beating a dead horse in the other one. I responded to Dr Ortiz after only having read pg 1. I did not even know that it stretched so long, and I will go back now and read. I am happy for the expert opinion he offered whether out of self preservation or not, I think knowledge is power and it is our job to filter through things that may or may not be biased. I say this having had no personal experience with erosion -- in other words -- in a vacuum. Had I experienced it, my feeling may have been different. You are strong, you are smart, you are obviously knowlegeable. Weight loss is about the hardest thing there is. It's OK to feel challenged by it --that's how we all got here! Do the best you can, and overtime it WILL make a difference. Hang in there!

I think egg salad is great -- I can actually eat it now, but not other kinds of eggs -- go figure. I do know that sometimes mayo is the culprit in tummy pains though -- I use miracle whip -- have you tried that?

Erosion, The Real Facts
bandayed replied to Ariel Ortiz M.D. FACS's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Dr Ortiz -- thank you for sharing your knowledge with all of us. I think that the coexistence of tube & port infections with erosion is interesting -- especially interesting is the knowledge that it may happen the other way around -- ie stomach problems leading to port problems reather than the other way around! Looks like we all put the chicken before the egg! I have said too that sometimes a little knowledge can lead to alot of speculation. I love LBT and get so much great advice here, but you are right, the more there is to hear, the more you there are problems....... and often it is just the ability to access info better, or the sheer frequency with which the procedures are being performed. Thank you for coming here to share & enlighten! -
How do you spell PLATEAU??? H-E-L-P !!!
bandayed replied to NancySmiles's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I think keeping your food and diet varied is the key to busting a plateau. Your body is a creature of habit and adjusts to what it is used to receiving. If you vary it as much as possible within healthy guidelines, I think that is when your body responds. Walking the same 3 miles or eating the same high fiber cereal is healthy and great, but once your bod knows it's coming, it is programmed to deal with it. That is my highly scientific theory.:blah: -
Does anyone ever have a kind of opposite thing happen? I feel great and just so petite and delicate as my mom would say since I've lost some weight. The problem is that then I see my reflection and I'm still FAT! I run around like I'm a tall willowy model and then the reality hits me in the face. I think part of it is that I really am not as big as I think I am -- my brain is still trying to catch upwith reality like was mentioned above. But on the other hand how could I feel so great and still be so big!?!?!?!? Self image -- it's a tough one!

I'm not on Zoloft, but i have been on Effexor and I currently take Celexa. They help me alot just to not freak day to day. Functioning under stress is easier (especially with my kids). I think of it as something that just improves the quality of my life, and when I dont need it, I will stop taking it. Simple as that. Hope it helps! There's a thread in the main board about antidepressants -- you'd be surprised how many of us there are

Do you think Hubby will like this V-Day gift?
bandayed replied to HeatherGurl's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
You are so lucky! I buy sexy little nothings & DH says what about a sports bra instead? The other night he jumped me b/c I was wearing a 2X sweatshirt and my glasses! He likes lacy things, but I guess prefers the basics! I think your hubby will love them! You go girl and be sexy for me b/c I'll be home with crew socks, cotton panties & a Tshirt turning on my weirdo guy!
