After reading, or actually, listening to Alex Brecher and Natalie Stein's audible book on gastric bypass, I sought out support from bariatricpal.com and have not been disappointed with the depth of information and support available on this site. I have contemplated WLS for some time, like years, but always felt I could and should do this on my own. Only after coming to a realization that I can not do it on my own, I have read as much as possible to make the best informed decision concerning what kind of surgery and how to make it a successful one.
I realize that this is most likely my last good effort to make a substantial and lifelong change and am approaching this with both respect for the process and acceptance of the realities that will come my way. My simple mantra is to do what the surgeon and program ask of me and to work with them. They are not the enemies, my habits and issues are. In the past two months, I've implemented regular exercise, healthier eating, and positivity in my relationships, with people, food, life and self. With currently 20 lbs and 17 inches loss and a significant decrease in diabetic meds, I know I am on the right track and doing what is good for my body ...and soul.
I am thankful for the support I have from family near and far and my loving husband, who has always supported all my endeavors. Together we are working towards a healthier day and know it is a "one day at a time" effort, Sweet Jesus!"
