Hello! Betsy here. I found BariatricPal on an internet search for surgery forums. I feel like i have so much weight to lose, it is difficult to see myself reaching goal or keeping it off. I am just getting started...after the discovery of a peptic ulcer, I decided this was as good a time as any to overhaul my eating. I honestly don't eat as much as most people my size, but it was still too much. If I had to guess, I'd say I was taking in around 3000 calories on many days. I started at 295 lbs. this time, but I had actually gotten up to 302 at one point. I am currently at 272. I walk almost every day but I really have to push it because my joints and feet hurt. If I get in close to an hour of walking in one day, it feels like an accomplishment. So, as far as surgery, I am just considering whether I'm a good candidate and if it would be worth the risks to me. Frankly, I have known several people who have had different surgeries and most gained back the weight even then. So, I'm just beginning to weigh it as an option. Either way, I am pretty sure I'd like to have cosmetic surgery if and when I am able to maintain a goal weight.
