Eating before its time ..
long2912 replied to lachellove's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had a few slip ups myself with eating something before its time. But I was waking up with my stomach growling like crazy and feeling nauseas for being hungry. I ordered the pintos and cheese from taco bell. I will admit it made my day , I could only eat 1/2 of the container although it was small I ate the rest for dinner. It was wonderful. I also s able to eat scrambled eggs before it was time . Now on end of week 4 going on five and I had some of the tenderest fillet mignon but only like a tsp full of the smallest pieces. But it was delish none the less. I am determined though now to keep my eating on tract and follow my stage food properly. Wish me luck, all of us !!!!! Cindy -
I was glad to see this issue addressed. I too am on my 4th week, I have lost 25lbs during the first 3 but nothing now and was wondering if I was messing up some how. Im pretty much following my plan and my NUT wants me to consume 1/4 c at each meal. Im able to eat decent food and even some tuna salad on my little salad it was really refreshing to eat some reg foods. But my weight loss has stalled. Was thinking maybe I should just stick to the Protein drinks instead of the tuna , cottage cheese and even moist chicken. Can someone elaborate a little on how much they consume at this point and what types of food they are consuming. Maybe a one days menu type. I would so appreciate it . Im so scared after going through all this that I will make a mistake that will cost me my ultimate goal. Thanks in advance , Cindy

how long is the Gastric Sleeve surgery ?
long2912 replied to boosh10's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgery lasted approx. 2.5 hours. as told anywhere from 2.5 to 3 . I had allot of scar tissue that was removed otherwise it would of been done somewhat sooner. -
Ok in trying to find a way to help my sister get sleeved. She is a widow who has survived raising 3 beautiful girls and has always put them before her. Now that their older some with families of their own she has the Medi Cal Blue Cross through Obama Care. I read where they do cover the surgery but it needs to be medically necessary.....yadayada Has anyone else ever used Medi Cal coverage for this procedure in the fresno kings county area?

Wow, you got to have scrambled eggs all ready!!! I'm dying to have some and yet have to wait till week 3 post op. I'm glad it was yummy!????

You cracked me up Snapdragon05 I to grew up baking beside mom and grandma so baking is just pure joy as well as the eating!! I'm only 7 days out post op but doing great. Really no issues . I was looking at food porn as well earlier and then waited for my husband to fall asleep so I could get up and bake him a special birthday cake. Although the eating of the final product was always the the best part, I find I totally enjoy seeing others enjoy what I have cooked or baked for them. ????????

I had my 1week post op today. Doc says I'm doing great???? I have lost 14# since Fri the 24th when I was weighed before surgery. I'm excited. Doing real good , few little bumps in the road but nothing major. I managed to take my wonderful husband to lunch for a big juicy steak for his birthday. I snuck in my very cold jar of applesauce from the baby food isle and had an ice tea. I also took a few tiny nibles of his mashed potatoes and gravy. I love Tahoe Joe's. GOD BLESS everybody keep a Happy Heart????

How long until I feel well again?
long2912 replied to kimtakespics's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I found that walking after meals and some liquid in taking , really did settle my stomach in the event I drank too much. I will be 7 days out tomorrow. -
Have you tried Diet V8 Splash there drink is very flavorful but I have to really dilute cause I'm having some problems with anything sweet. But I like the tropical one it's more of an orange flavor.

How is 'excess weight' calculated?
long2912 replied to Beachsprite's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I did mine exactly how NikkiDoc did. Find what your min and max weight SHOULD be subtract that from your weight as of now. That's your excess. -

Apprehension about General Anesthesia

It's completely natural to have anxiety before surgery, and they expect it. If you are feeling anxious tell them right when you get there or sooner so they can give you something to relax. Myself, I just had my 1 week post option today, but I'm not a stranger to surgeries. This was like the 13th surgery I have had in my 51 yrs. The anesthesiologist will meet you before your surgery and see if you have any questions regarding going to sleep. Be truthful about how you feel to him/ her, their the one that is going to be watching your every vital sign and making sure you are as comfortable as can be. Omg, I just realised....it WAS the 13th surgery. And I'm a superstitious person. Lol I had my surgery at Fresno Heart & Surgery Center and I will say they were AWSOME. Will this be your first surgery? -
Well, I made it. Actually it wasn't a bad experience at all for me this far. My surgery was approx 2hrs, had some scar tissue from previous surgeries which needed to be removed. But all went as planned. Was released the following day by 12:30 and now home freshly showered, had my breakfast and wrote in my journal. I'm boiling some ribs for my husband's dinner and looking forward to using the strained broth for mine. I'm just going to take it slow day by day.
