I use Isopure low carb chocolate. I would recommend that you don't buy a lot before surgery since your tastebuds will (most likely) change a bit. I bought a lot, and I have two huge containers of different brands because they just didn't sit well or taste right after surgery.

Hey guys! I hope everyone has a great Easter tomorrow. I hope everyone is doing well. The weight loss posted in the last few posts are awesome! Keep up the good work! I have to say that I have been really frustrated with food and eating the last couple of days. My doctor wants me to strictly stick to just protein until I've lost 60% of what I need to lose. I don't eat pork or red meat, so I am sick of what I've been eating. I want some veggies!!! I even picked up a cookie today, was gonna eat it, then put it back. I was proud of myself. I am really scared about all of the deliciousness that I will encounter tomorrow. I would love it if anyone could talk me off the ledge that I'm on. Uggggg! -

Thanks, guys! My goal weight is 140. I am triplet, and am currently the biggest of the three. My skinny clone is probably about 130, but I am a bit taller, so 140 seems doable. -

Hey guys! I can't believe it's been a month already! I weighed in today and I am 26 pounds down! I can't believe it! I'm 5'5, and my preop weight was 244.5 and today I'm 216.6. I was not expecting such a loss, so I'm thrilled. Starting a regular diet today, so that's a plus, too. [emoji1] -
I know that one of the bad habits I got into pre op was a vicious cycle of negative talk. The negative talk never helped, and usually only led to more negative self talk. Go easy on yourself. Regret is useless. You know your error, now move on. Focus on how far you come and how amazingly forgiving and awesome your body is.

I'm a month out and was just cleared for coffee. Went to Trader Joe's and bought their low acid French Roast. The acid causes ulcers, not the caffeine. I am usually a 3 cup a day drinker, but I was happy with just one cup (just black for me). We'll see how things go.

I'm almost 4 weeks out and have had similar problems. Probably low blood pressure. You should monitor your blood pressure and contact your doctor. -

Anyone with strict protein only diet?
losinglily posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey, all. I am two weeks out from surgery and was just wondering if any of you have similar instructions. My doctor wants me on a protein only diet until I've lost 75% of what I need to lose. I'm really missing fruit and vegetables (crazy, I know)and am bummed I can't touch them for a while. -

MxKitty- I am so thrilled for you and your wife! What a cutie! Congrats! I have only tried egg and tuna salad. The egg salad doesn't sit too well, but the tuna was awesome. I use the unflavored Isupure powder as well. Thanks for the tip regarding how to mix the powder without clumps. I am going to see my doctor in an hour or so to get my staples removed. Can't wait to get them out! -
Anyone with strict protein only diet?

Thanks for all the feedback. I am taking a ton of vitamins. It feels like I get more vitamins in me than anything else! The pill thing is daunting, especially since I am taking meds for RA, Fibromyalgia, and high blood pressure. I sure do hope this time goes by quickly because I totally agree that you need the healthy carbs that fruit and veggies provide. Right now my energy is really low. Thanks again! -

Thanks so much for sharing, Positive44. I'm glad to know that others are at the same spot. I've come pretty darn close to your private moment with those potatoe chips! Last weekend I had to sit through my son's pizza birthday party with the pizza and cake right in front of me! My husband actually started getting me a slice of pizza. When he looked up and saw my deathly dagger eyes he felt horrible! Thanks for the encouragement! -

Hey guys, It sounds like everyone is doing well. So, today I started puree. Although I am doing well, the last few days I have been mourning the loss of food. I know things will get better, but I'm in mourning nonetheless. I tried egg salad twice today. Was really carefull about taking baby bites and chewing, but could only eat 1 1/2 tbs. for both lunch and dinner. At that point I was nauseous stopped. Anyone else relate? On another note, you're in my thoughts, diet belle. I sure hope things start looking up for you soon. Have a good evening, 2/9 crew! -

I totally agree with MxKitty. 12 pounds is awesome! 10,000 steps will have you hurting. It's really interesting how different each doctor is in terms of recommended diet, check ups, etc. I had a phone consultation with a nurse last Tue. (1 week) and will see my doctor on the 25th. I feel like I'm doing really well. Went out in the sunlight today (feared I might go blind, but didn't) to visit my mom. I took my Shake and yogurt with me. I feel like I'm a baby on a feeding schedule! It will be nice when we can eat real food and blend in with the crowd. Oh, one thing: still no BM! I've been taking a stool softener every day. Suggestions? Don't want to die from poo poisoning or anything like that! Lol! -
One for the ladies!
losinglily replied to nicky2221's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had surgery a week ago and went through the same thing. I wore a tampon, but when I told the nurse she said she would get me those super sexy mesh underwear. The pad was like the kind you'd get from s nurse in junior high (hello bulky). Before and after surgery nurses would tell the doctor or other nurses that I was on my period. I should've just pinned a scarlet "P" on my hospital gown! [emoji13] -

So glad everyone seems to be doing well. Is anyone still taking pain meds? I have only taken them the last few evenings to help me sleep. I'm feeling good. On a side note (since it was mentioned in the hot choc recipe), you can find PB2 at Big Lots (I'm in California- not sure if Big Lots are outside of CA). All I know is that I am getting pretty stir crazy. Haven't left the house at all. Uggggg. -

2/9 Surgery! Whoop whoop!

How did surgery go? Well, I hope ???? -
Hey all, I have been a lurker for over a year and a half. I FINALLY have my surgery date (2/9), and can't wait to lose the flub! Let me introduce myself. I'm hoping to make some friends. First off, I'm a 41 year old gal living in Southern California. I'm an identical triplet. I should say that I WAS an identical triplet until I gained 100+ pounds. Now it's hard to hang around those skinny bitches! No, I love my doppelgängers, but it really is hard to hang out with them when you know that others are wondering what the hell happened to me. Anyway, another way that we aren't identical is that I was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis and Fibromyalgia 8 years ago. I am hoping that my joints will be better once I lose weight. The main reason I want to lose weight is because I want to be more active and enjoy life with my 10 year old son. He's growing up fast, and I don't want to miss out on the things I've put off doing with him for so long. Well, that's the gist of it. I'll keep you posted on my surgery.

Hey there 2/9 & 2/8 peeps, I'm so glad everyone is doing well. I ended up spending two nights in the hospital because my blood pressure was up. They added another blood pressure med and that brought it down. I was so frustrated because I was walking within an hour after surgery and doing well with liquids. Tomorrow I start full liquids. Hopefully that goes well. Are you guys taking pain meds? I am tapering down on the hydrocodone. All in all I think things have gone better than I expected. Waiting until next Tue. to face the scale. Take care peeps! -
Hospital bag....what do I need?
losinglily replied to nicky2221's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Buy some Biotene dry mouth spray. My mouth was super dry from the small amount of fluid I could drink and the pain meds. -
Hey all! I FINALLY got approved! I have been working on getting surgery for about a year and a half, and I can't believe it was approved! I am actually having surgery next Friday. Yikes! I have been following my surgeons 2 shakes a day and a lean dinner diet, and when I called to ask if I need to change things, they said no. So..... 1. What kind of diet were you on right before surgery? 2. I forgot to ask, but should I continue to take my blood pressure meds and birth control pills? I'd appreciate any wisdom you have to share!

Sharing My Story -- Sleeve post op 18 months out
losinglily replied to alexsisv's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Alexsisv, Thanks so much for taking the time to share. I am having surgery on 2/9. I am actually starting off at a similar place to you (5'5, BMI 40). I also have RA and Fibro. It sounds like the weight loss has helped health wise. I'm hoping surgery will do the same for me. You look great, and, more importantly, seem happy. Your post was just what I needed to read. ???? -

Man, sorry to hear about the preop blood drawing nonsense. I just gave blood a few days ago (I give 4xs a year due to my RA), and make it a habit to chug a ton of water before a draw. Learned the hard way a few times. ????
