2009 - New York City Banded Together-Lapband Talk National Event
Jessie Ward replied to CoachCher's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I won't be able to attend the conference in March. I can say the lap band has been the best thing I have ever done. My one year was November 14. I have lost 86 pounds and 78 inches. I was hoping for 100 pounds at my year just shy 14 pounds. Good luck to all who are waiting for surgery and all those who have had the surgery. Jessie Ward:thumbup: -
Hi my name is Jessica Ward. I was banded on Nov.14th,2007. I started at 243 pounds and I now weigh 191 pounds. I have lost a total of 52 pounds and 42 inches. I have had 2 fills and am getting ready for my 3rd fill this week. I feel a lot better since I have dropped this much weight. I had very high blood pressure and am now coming off my medication. I strongly suggest for people to attend local support groups. Also excersise is very important in your new venture. Good to luck to all who have been banded and to those who are considering being banded.:biggrin:

Port very noticable and sticks up
Jessie Ward replied to slimmy120's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Be careful with situps there are 2 stitches that hold the port in place and you could pop a stitch with excess bending at the waist. Its good that it is closer to the surface it makes the fills a lot easier.lBanded on Nov 14 2007 and have had 3 fills. Down 59 pounds and 55 inches. -
You don't have a surgery date yet. It is a piece of cake to go through. Good luck with your weight loss after. Just do what they tell you it will be good.

Davia For breakfast I have 1 scrambled egg with 1 slice of cheese melted and 1 tablespoon of cottage cheese. I am at 4and a quarter ccs and she is going to give me another cc this week. Even though my loss id doing good I still want to snack. Dr doesnt want me to. Taliepa fish and salmon are the fish that I eat. I also buy fat free pudding cups and they are very filling. Also you can have string cheese. Let me know how you do and remember go to support groups they really help..

I have averaged about 10 pounds a month. So it sounds like your doing okay. Dr. Hass says she expects 1 to 2 pounds a week. I also eat pretty much what I want to. But I do eat a lot of fish sauteed in olive oil with lemon pepper its very good. I eat a lot of veggies but I buy frozen not canned. Also chicken tenders cut and sauteed in olive oil and then add some frozen brocoli and cauliflower and serve on a small amount of minute rice its also very good. Careful with the wine it is very high in calorie. I used to drink Jack and pepsi and I still drink but I have vodka and grapefruit juice with no sugar added.

doctor said my port is too deep to reach to have a fill
Jessie Ward replied to mommalois59's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Be careful with the crunches my Dr. just told me that there are 2 atitches holding the port in place and lifting heavy objects or a hard cough and situps can pop the stitches and move the port. Jessie Ward Banded Nov. 14th 2007 -
Hi my name is Jessie and I was banded on Nov 14 2007. I was allowed to have popsicles, jello, fat free pudding cups, yogurt, chicken broth, as long as it is all fat free.

I Want My Band Removed Now!!!!!
Jessie Ward replied to yazmarrero85's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Its not for everyone and you need to do what is best for you. My Dr. let me have solid food on the 8th day after surgery which happened to be Thanksgiving day and I had a spoon of mashed potatoes and gravy and a small piece of turkey. I dont know why some drs. make you stay on liquids so long after surgery. You need to ask if you can have some solid foods now. -
getting banded on March 19th
Jessie Ward replied to nurselori73's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Good luck to all March Banders. I had my surgery on Nov.14 th and I have lost 45 pounds and 38 inches. I was wearing a size 22 before and now wear a 16 and it feels great. I was on a slim fast diet for my 2 weeks but I drank chicken broth and had jello. If you can make it through the liquid diet the lap band is a breeze. Good luck to all of you. -

Help! Im having second thoughts.

I forgot to tell you the reason for the liquid diet prior to your banding. They want to get the fat away from the liver so they can lift it safely away from the stomach. If you dont get the fat down around the liver they will have to do an open incision to get where they need to be so as to move the liver without damaging it. JESSIE -

I was on a liquid diet with no solid food for 2 weeks prior to my band on Nov. 14th 2007. It was well worth it. I am 3 months in and I have lost 33 pounds and 30 inches and have dropped 3 pants sizes. I had my first fill 4 weeks ago and am having my second fill today. I feel great and I have more energy than I have had in a long time. I go to the gym and exercise 3 times a week. Hang in there you will be glad you did. Jessie:wink2: -
