Protein Goal/Shopping List
TJBintheOC replied to DuckieXD's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Have you tried any bars? I eat nuts, cheese, turkey jerky, coconut water with protein, peanut butter. I was sleeved in June and my hair fell out in October, November and December, like 50%. It wasn't due to protein deficiency. If you get in 40 to 50 g of protein you're OK. I think people getting 80 or above, that is just too much unless you're an athlete. Just eat many times during the day. I know it's tough and you feel like you're not getting enough sometimes, but just try to do the best you can. I never drank shakes. Good luck. ???? -
I am 8 mos out and I eat everything. Popcorn and nuts. I eat beans, pasta and bread sparingly. It fills me up too quickly. I've posted before and I've received negative comments about my eating habits. But it works for me. I started at 200 and I now weigh 133...and I don't fluctuate much. I eat many times a day, but 4 or 5 bites. I don't log my food or count anything. Maybe I'm being naive or getting cocky...but I've done that my whole life and I feel free now. I can definitely eat more now. I don't think I've stretched out my stomach. I can eat very little in the morning, but as the day goes on I can eat more. I never drink alcohol, carbonated drinks, or juice. I eat chips, tacos, English muffins and peanut butter, turkey jerky, nuts, cheese, pizza, etc. Sweets aren't my thing, and if I do eat them, it's a few bites. Don't eat ice cream. I love cheeseburgers (half with one bun). A taquito. Half a piece of chicken and four bites of salad with ranch. A few fries. Sweet potato. No fruit really. I eat what I want when I want...just four or five bites. I would really have to work at it all day and make myself uncomfortable to gain weight. I don't know if this is bad advice, but it works for me. I never took PPI's. You'll do what works for you. To be honest, I will always be a food addict. My bad cravings really never went away, but I can't indulge now. If I had to eat chicken and veggies the rest of my life I'd be very unhappy. I want to eat healthy now to feel good...not just be skinny. I'm only 8 months out. I might be changing my tune if I put on weight in the years to come. ????

Hemorrhoids after Gastric Sleeve?
TJBintheOC replied to fling0228's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had constipation off and on for almost six months. I took milk of magnesia and that always helped. I drink one cup of coffee every morning and that makes me go. I really freaked out about pooping every three or four days, because before I went every day. But you just aren't going to go every day because you're not eating as much. But mom helped me every time. I did get a few roids, but they're better now. -
When is it a good time to eat noodle
TJBintheOC replied to Darlene Ennis's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 8 mos out and never eat pasta. I could eat 2 bites or like 1 ravioli. It never sits well. I think I eat too much too fast and it's the closest I've been to throwing up. Not worth it. -
So I want to hear stories...
TJBintheOC replied to lalajade's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Where do I begin? I started at 200 and now I'm 133. That might not seem big...but I was hurting so bad emotionally, spiritually, mentally and physically. I have been on diets for the past 20 years. I was always 20lbs overweight, but in the last six years I gained about 10lbs a year. I snapped after my dad passed of leukemia in May 2015. I got my surgery in June 2015. The one word I can use to describe how I feel...free. I literally don't worry about food anymore. I have a built-in portion control for life. I wear small and a size six. I literally can't believe it. To step on a scale and see 133/134 is indescribable. It doesn't solve every problem. Being thin doesn't mean you'll be happy...but I am now free of the daily mental anguish of being heavy and overeating and dieting. It's the best thing that's ever happened to me. -
Protein Goal/Shopping List
TJBintheOC replied to DuckieXD's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hate protein shakes. Fairlife milk jugs (19g). Unjury chicken soup and coco libre coconut water with protein in chocolate and vanilla. Yummy. Trust me. Not thick. Didn't have to choke it down. -

It's growing back nicely now. That was scary!

How has this surgery affected your cycles? (GIRLS)
TJBintheOC replied to reachbree's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
At month 4 I didn't have a period for 3 months. It's pretty normal again. 50% of my hair fell out during those 3 months. It's growing back and all is good. -
I've lost 65. My boobs are saggy. My belly is a little squishy. My arms are actually ok. My buns are just skin now. Hopefully I can tone that up a little. I can deal with all of it. Maybe a boob lift in a few years. I was 200, now I'm 135. I look great in clothes. No bikini, but a tankini will be awesome. I'm 45 so I'm not expecting to look 20. My husband thinks I look great. Getting sleeved was the BEST thing I've ever done. Good luck...you're going to be so happy. [emoji4]

Surgery on a "smaller" patient
TJBintheOC replied to Lindsey Corbet Love's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 5'6 and was 200 on 6/25/15. I am now 133. I hit my goal of 140 in December. I lost about 10lbs a month. During that six months I lost 0lbs maybe 4 or 5 of the weeks. It's ok to lose slow. I know it can be frustrating, but your skin won't get saggy. -
Did anyone not have a drain?

Hairless and vitamins
TJBintheOC replied to EboneAngl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hair loss is normal. It's a combination of hormones, the rapid weight loss, different diet...mine started to fall out around 4 mos, and lasted 3 mos. I lost 50% of my hair. It's growing back now. I tried not to stress and did what I could. Good luck. -

TJBintheOC replied to southernbelle256's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've reached my goal weight (135/5'6) and a lot of people tell me I'm way too skinny. They're just used to seeing me heavy. They just don't know what to say. Maybe they think I like hearing it???? It's all good. I feel great. ❤️ -
I started losing my hair at 4 mos. It lasted 3 mos. During that time I had no period. I lost 50% of my hair. I freaked out a little. It's now starting to grow back. I dyed it every six weeks. Didn't wash it as much. I have thick, curly hair...well, not as thick now. ????

HELP! Cant stop eating!
TJBintheOC replied to nn1985's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 28 wks out and the hunger is starting to kick in. I think I got too cocky since I reached my goal weight. Chips go down so easy. When it hits 4:00 I could graze all night. Scares me. I drink lots of water and if I'm going to eat...I eat some type of protein. Before I thought, ok, this carb craving or chip craving will go away if I just eat a few chips. But then I was hungry a half hour later and I would eat a few more chips. And it just kept going on like that. I knew I had to nip that habit right away. I know my late day cravings are in my head, so I just make myself eat protein. I know once I start on the carbs I won't stop. You'll get a handle on this. It's funny how old habits resurface. Good luck!
