    Recovery + Time Off Work

Hi - I had my surgery on 11/3 and was back to work the end of the next week - on 11/12. The first day in the hospital was my worst and after hat it was all uphill. I never experienced fatigue and actually had more energy than I thought possible. I began walking the day I got home and continued to walk every other day and got up to a little over 2 miles. I realize I am very fortunate to have such a fabulous recovery and can only wish the same for you. Good luck!

48lb down but only one dress size!

I am in the same boost as all you ladies. I have lost 32# in 3'weels which includes my 15 pound loss pre op. I have lost in my face and neck area but haven't lost a clothing size yet. I haven't been measured yet and while I do feel I have lost inches, I am carrying majority of my weight in my stomach and hips. Would love to lose another 20# by Christmas but not sure if that will happen by then. I too feel the weight is coming off slowly, but my NUT says I'm considered a "rapid" weightloss and am at the high end of normal.
  3. @@Cervidae not that I want to hear you were slow in the first 2 months, I am glad to learn that I am not alone. Any tips or advice to give? Thank you so much for responding so quickly ????

    Notice a change

I am 2 weeks out from surgery and the scale is at a standstill for over a week. I'm walking over 2 miles a day every other morning. I don't understand as I am religiously following the plan.

    Can we ever have cake?

@@beachgal2935 - I swear you should write a book. A recipe book that is. Thank you so much for your recipes, being so descriptive and including photos of even the ingredients. I have been looking for a cookbook that would house high protein, low sugar, low sodium recipes; however, if you continue to share your recipes, I can make a cookbook of just yours! Thank you so much!!
  7. You look amazing and are a true inspiration to all of us who are on this side. I am almost 2 weeks out and feel great as well but am curious when I hear the first 6 months are "rapid weight loss" and what "rapid" means. Please continue to share your successes and tips with all of us as I love to read about your journey. Keep up the fabulous work ????

    Peanut butter?

The PB2 is wonderful. I added a tsp to my vanilla Greek yogurt. Delish.

5 days post-op and constant burping

Hi Finding Myself again - well, I stopped the Isopure all together and I feel terrific. The nurse called me today to follow up and she said that was fine, that even when I tried to dilute it, it still hurt like hell. She said it must be the concentrate of the drink that I can't tolerate and not to worry. I start my protein shakes tomorrow (Premier Protein) and yogurt and she suggests I stick with those 2 to see how I do and if I want to throw in an occasional broth, I can do that too. I've been out walking, today I walked, a lot and it felt so good. I barely have the burping anymore, but do have the "crampy" like feeling in my stomach - almost like a bloated bruised feeling. That's the best way I can explain it, but I will take that any day over what I was experiencing with the painful burping. How are you feeling? When was your surgery? Any issues or is it smooth sailing for you?

5 days post-op and constant burping

You bet I do. My husband went out and got them for me last night. Haven't taken that many but will keep trying. I did notice the more I drink Isopure, the more I have the burping. Water doesn't do it to me. Thank your for the help and I sure hope this achy pain goes away. So glad to be here on this side with you all.
  11. Hi all...well, I made it to the other side with you all and I have to say it was a little tougher than I expected, the first day. I was in so much pain from what I think was gas buildup and the drainage tube that they had me pushing the Dilautid button nonstop. I was beyond oblivious and want to forget that day. I did however, have the nurse get me up about 7pm to walk...wobbly and all, I did...told her I was driving drunk. It was a good laugh. Since then, I would be up in the hospital by 6am, walking my 5 floor laps, back to my room to start charting my drinks waiting 2 hours or 3 to get back up and walk another 5 laps. Surgeon took the drainage tube out day 3 as all looked great and it appeared to be pushing on my diaphragm and would hurt with every deep breath. I came home Friday and feel pretty darn good. I actually went outside yesterday and walked an entire block with my neighbor and back home to rest and chart fluids. I get extremely full and am finding some difficulty getting in all of this isopure. I am also having painful burping all of the time. By 4pm yesterday I was so uncomfortably full and hurt from the burping I stopped my intake and felt better. I also have some sort of ache too on my left upper side - kind of where the drain was pushing on my diaphragm. I am hoping to get some answers from all of you who have been thru all of this already and thank you all in advance. I did contact the nurse about the burping and she said to sip slower and try drinking from a 3 oz cup vs the little medicine cups they gave me. At that time the achy pain wasn't there yet. Thanks everyone ????
  12. Thank you so much for the recipes! I love everything pumpkin as well and am going to be using these once I get to the losers bench, which is tomorrow ????
  13. Today is the last day of my 2 week preop diet and on my scale, I've lost 14 pounds. Nerves have set in as I could hardly sleep last night looking at the clock. Last day of work and lots of loose ends to take care of. I feel I've been nesting and preparing foods for the family as well as have all of my items lined up. Thankfully I have a wonderful husband who will run to the store for me when needed and take care of the house and kids and everything in between. It's been a great 3 months, with definitely it's ups and downs, but now it's my time to shine. I will be on that losers bench tomorrow and I cannot wipe the smile off my face as I am beaming with excitement!????????. Thank you all for being my my side, with individual words of wisdom And tips that I am taking with me. I wish you all success and happiness as we all find ourselves again. Talk soon!!????

    Anyone having surgery in November?

I'm having mine Tuesday, November 3rd! I'm so ready to be on the losers bench. I'm on Day 12 of my liquid diet which is all clear liquids and 3 meal replacements a day which consist of either a powdered flavored shake, powdered pudding or powdered soup. I've lost 14 lbs so far and ready for this part to be over. I wish all of you the best of luck with your surgeries and I'll see you on the other side????????

    Day 1 of liquid diet

@@Dub well I can agree, the preop all clear liquid diet is not a walk in the park. Day 7 here and I'm doing great, but every now and then I get a whiff of something cooking from a restaurant and you just want to cave...but I would never. I can do this and I will do this. A week from tomorrow at 7:30am I can join you and the others on the other side????. How are you doing? Pain? Exercise? Tips you can offer?
