Waiting is no fun!
Chris-NYC replied to amyallthetime's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi Amyallthetime congratulations in the first step.i would wait before calling, it normally takes a week before someone from the office call you back. I just had my gastric sleeve done on monday was released from the hospital yesterday. The entire process from beginning to end took me six months. Every insurance company is different my insurance company requires that I do a six-month weight review with my doctor, other insurance may require just three months. I first attended my weight-loss seminar in January and got approved in mid June the day after. Completing my six month review -
Kool and good luck!!! ????

Hey everyone I just had my gastric sleeve surgery on Monday am still in the hospital. Surgery was scheduled for 1 PM however I walked into the operating room at 4:15 and was in recovery by 5:25 cording to the doctor and my family. after waking up in recovery the only pain I had was back pain from all the gas used in my body. On a pain scale 1 to 10 my pain level was a 8-9????, they quickly gave me something and I dozed back off????. I spend the next few hrs in recovery waiting on a empty room. I was in my room by 9:30pm and by then was in no pain at all. As a matter of fact I felt so good that I started walking at 10pm for about 20 mins Monday night doctors and nurse was very surprise that I felt so good. I also had no appetite even though last time I ate was Saturday night. On Tuesday I spend the day going for tests and started drinking drinking liquids for the first time. My first slip of Water made me very noshes however I did not throw up or anything. After that I switch to a different drink and feel better. Because my my stomach was still swollen I felt extremely extremely full like I just went to a all you can eat buffet twice in the same day. I felt very miserable most of the day ????and could not drink more than approximately 20 ounces of liquid. Doctors told me once I'm able to drink 64 ounces or close to 64 ounces I will be released from the hospital which should be sometime today. Currently I am no longer nauseous my pain level is very minimum I am already taking crush medication instead of through the IV. On a pain scale 1 to 10 I feel like a 3. ????

Hey running2thesleeve you can add me as a friend if you want a buddy. At first my mom wasn't very supportive infact he would avoid talking about the topic until meeting with the dr the day of surgery and they reassured her why the surgery is a good option. I after surgery I was taken off my blood pressure medication which made my mom very happy. Now she is very supportive after surgery. If there's anything I can answer for you please feel free to ask.

Thanks Tcon yea I'm feeling pretty good overall. Pain is very minimum however am still taking pain medication about every 6hrs. Truthfully the only pain I really have is getting in or out of bed. Since surgery, I also no longer need my to take blood pressure medicine ????

Hey Amy I told just a hand full of family members & family, but stopped after one co-worker was not being support. When I finally did get approved for a Surgery date I told my coworkers that I'll be on a two-week vacation and I made up a trip. Am still in the hospital but when I return to work I will mention to them that I change my diet and been working out alot while out of town so as the weight comes off they won't question me
