@@fhay most doctors want you to be birth control free (hormonal birth control) for at least one month prior to surgery and one month after due to the increase risk for blood clots. After that it's your choice on which has been most effective for you. I personally use the Nuvaring and have no complaints!

@@Wendydarling19 the first few months are so hard! You'll get there! You will notice huge changes within six months if you stick with it I promise! It'll get so much easier and you'll be so much happier (and lighter!)

Don't know why after losing 91lbs I am looking at myself daily and making such a big deal of minor imperfections. My brain is having a really difficult time catching up with the rapid weight loss. When I was close to 300lbs I thought I was passing for 220! Now that I am 198 I feel like I am still stuck in an ill fitting size 20 when I can easily wear a juniors size 13... I think a lot has to do with the loose skin on my lower belly which makes everything fit weird! Who else has gone through this and what did you do to help your mind catch up!?
Thanks!

@@dashofsunshine you look great! How long did it take for you to lose your weight? I am at 7 months post and things are starting to slow down quite a bit! I feel like I'll never get to the point your at!

Your right about Optifast it isn't very filling but once you get into the routine, what you thought you couldn't do, you WILL do because you have to. Their also right about the first 3 days bring the worst. I'm on Day 4 and each day it got easier. good luck
Love your positive attitude! It should be so much easier now! Keep up the positivity and you'll do great!

@@MollyF22 I am on day 12 and I know I feel full with one shake and a little bit of Water. Not feeling stuffed or anything just full- satisfied. Didn't think I would make it this far! @It's Time I have had the same issue with the scale I feel like I should have lost more then I have (7-8 pounds) considering all I am consuming is Optifast (not allowed food at all). It's a little sad.
-
Have been doing Optifast for five days. Have not cheated at all after the first day it's been so much easier but I haven't lost any weight... That stinks!! Anyone else have this issue?!
-
Okay - Update- Day four not physically hungry too much. Tummy was growling a little last night but not overwhelming. It is definitely mental training! Weird not eating... Have to have control!
-
Okay - today is the first day.... Hasn't been super bad! Had an Optifast bar and one shake so far. Don't want to eat too much of my daily allowance early in the day and suffer tonight! Defiantly going to stop and get some broth on the way home though I think that will take some of the edge off! Hope everyone is doing okay!

@@AliAqua this actually might be a solution to the expensive cardio equipment. And it's Amazon prime so if I hate it I can send it back! My problem @@appletree is I have used all my FSA money this year because our insurance sucks! High deductibles for everything and I have the "best" plan they offer! Totally understand not taking care of yourself and putting your kids first! I used to go to a gym which is great, I feel motivated, but the closest one is 30 min away so that's an hour of travel time plus at least an hour of workout which is too long to be gone from my already short amount of time with my kids at home. Trying to find fun and new ideas saw a game on amazon where you roll dice and have cards of different workouts to do.. Maybe worth it to mix things up

Okay, just watched the video for it, have you used it standing up?! How do you balance? I feel like I'd just topple over!!!
-
Thank you both. I have talked my fiancee into selling our pool table so that room can become my home gym. I am probably going to have to invest in a few of those workout DVDS and @@appletree you are doing so well so early on! I never thought of the hulahoop but that is a great workout. Are you using a weighted one or just one you can buy from the toy section at wal-mart? You made a good point about the treadmill though, it would be easy to start with that even soon after surgery which is very important!

Correctional Nurse - The correlation is weird.
I was in corrections for 17 yrs myself, tough job.
How'd you get out of it?! I've been in five, going on six years, and I feel like this is where I am going to stay even if I get tired of it!
-
Thanks guys! My surgeon requires Optifast which are okay tasting but aren't super filling. I guess I'll keep myself busy so I don't focus on not being able to eat!!! Can't wait to be healthier!

Okay... I know I am a big girl and this is part of the process but I am totally dreading the two-week liquid diet that I have to start on Monday! For those of you who have done it... how did you manage?!

So since I am so close to surgery I am starting to think about what my fitness routine is going to be post-op (once I get the okay from the doctor). I know its not going to be "Fittin'this whole pizza in my mouth" anymore! So my question is, as far as home gym equipment, treadmills, elliptical, bikes, max trainers, free weights, etc. which have you enjoyed the most? Typically at the gym I am an elliptical girl and I don't really enjoy the treadmill too much but I feel like a home elliptical is going to take up so much room! I was thinking about a punching bag, a few kettle bells, a roman chair, resistance bands, and some DVDs would probably be better than a cardio machine but weather isn't the best here so I need to figure out cardio too. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Holy crap! That's amazing! Way to go with the good work! Inspiring truly!

@@andersonrivera Protein is very important in this stage for healing and for weight loss! I noticed if I was slacking on protein I would not lose weight. After surgery the only Protein Shake that wasn't too heavy for me was Unjury - strawberry. If you don't want milk based I would shoot for Isopure I personally like the tea flavors although they do leave a strange after taste. I think I saw in another post that you were just sleeved at the end of August, take it slowly. The most important thing is to get your protein and stay hydrated!
