    Drinking with food

I'm about a year and a half out of surgery and sometimes I do drink with my meal. It all depends on what I'm eating though as some foods make it very uncomfortable to drink with Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

This maybe a dumb Question but what does the rice do ? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App I don't have a negative effect from eating rice, I just get fuller faster so prefer to try and get the Protein in first Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Making the decision

I completely understand how difficult this decision is. At the end of the day it comes down to your own decision. I had the sleeve surgery about a year ago and unfortunately I had complications. I had 2 big strictures and I got 2 different surgeons opinions who both said because of how long the strictures are and the location they have never seen it get better without doing the gastric bypass. I didn't want another surgery so I was very stubborn and as a result spent a few months in the hospital with a feeding tube as well as a mesh stent in my esophagus to help open the strictures. Although it was very hard I did get through it, the strictures are gone and now I can eat without any issues. I have reached my goal weight and am now in the normal BMI range I don't regret my decision because now I am healthier and happier then ever. I wish you the best of luck in whatever you decide
  6. not 100% sure but it sounds like it could be a gall stone or kidney stone. But I would definitely see a doctor if pain meds are not working.

    Regret, depression & anxiety

Hi Anna, I hope your on your way to a much happier and healthier life. I had my surgery 4 months ago and have been in and out of hospital for most of the time due to complications. I developed 2 strictures in my stomach and was put on a feeding tube, I wasn't able to eat or drink anything for over a month. I went through an emotional roller coaster crying everyday from the pain and also the regret from having the surgery. I'm still in hospital at the moment but the surgeon says that everything is looking well and one of the strictures seems to be completely healed. I was put on anti-depressants and they took a little over a week to start working. But please don't give up, your mind plays a huge part in the healing process, I know we will both get through this and will soon come to accept our decision.

    So Scared :(

Thanks for your support I was released from the hospital today after a month in the hospital. I had a mesh stent in my esophagus for a week, it was the most painful experience I have ever gone through, kept vomiting non stop for three days straight, the next 4 days in constant pain like something just wanted to come out of my chest. Had to stay upright that whole week was impossible for me to lie down so didn't sleep much at all through the week. But it's all over and I can not be more happier. I am on Puree foods for the next three weeks but having eaten nothing since the 7th of July, this is like a feast. As most people say there is light at the end of the tunnel, now on to start my new weight loss journey and to live a happier and healthier life.

I am being transferred to another hospital and will most likely be putting a stent in Tomorrow. He said that he only wants to leave it in for a week or 2 at the most. Not sure what to except. I know it won't be pleasant but if it has to be done I can't do anything about it. will be staying in the hospital for the next 2 weeks so that they can monitor my progress.

    So Scared :(

I have the PICC line in. I have had it in for a couple of days now. I haven't been throwing up or feeling nauseous and have regained my energy. I am still nil by mouth since I came into the hospital. I think he wants to do one more scan on my stomach to see the swelling and then if tests look ok wants to start me on liquids again. It's been 5 weeks since surgery. can't wait until I feel normal again.

    So Scared :(

Just found out my surgeon wants to put a PICC line in. A little nervous but I know I am in good hands. Hopefully this will give me some energy, and will be a step closer to recovery.

My surgeon has done the leak test twice and I'm pretty sure he wants to wait to see if some of the swelling goes down on its own before he considers putting a stent in. I hope this will resolve itself, I was doing so well the first three weeks and just started the purée without much issue before this started.

I'm not sure how to change it as I'm using a phone. I have just been readmitted into hospital, can't keep any liquids down, just keep throwing up. I guess there is not much else I can do but weight this out and follow my Surgeons instructions. Just can't stop crying because this is so stressful especially for my family who have been with me throughout this.

    So Scared :(

Hi everyone, My name is Christine and I was sleeved on the 7th July, everything was going pretty well for about 3 weeks when I was just about to start on Purée foods. I started throwing up and couldn't stop, it was so violent and I had no idea how to stop. I wasn't throwing up much except spit, so I was rushed to hospital. they put me on an IV drip for dehydration, and put me on anti nausea medication but nothing seemed to help. My surgeon came to see me and looked very worried, he made me do a leak test and also put a camera into my stomach to see what was happening. They didn't find a leak but he did say that I had swelled up my stomach so much from all the vomiting and now have an hour glass shaped stomach. My surgeon hopes that it should resolve itself but if not he said that he might need to put a stent in. Overall he thinks that the vomiting was most likely caused by a Gastro/bug Virus. I will be seeing him again in a week, to try eating purée foods but I'm so scared that I might have to get a stent put in. Just wondering if anyone has been through something similar. I am just so scared and unfortunately right now I am regretting my decision to have the surgery.
