Members Being Banded In March 06

Hey GOOD LUCK!! I was banded last Tuesday and have lost 14 pounds already!! You will be very surprised as to how full you get on a little bit of Fluid right after surgery. It will not be a difficult as it sounds. I mainly did strained Soups and broth. Protein drinks mixed with Water (water consistency is best in my opition for the 1st week) I added unflavored portien to my crystal light to ensure I got in as much protein as I could. For me it was not until day 4 or 5 that I could drink up to 64 oz a day. So excited for you.:clap2: :clap2: You will do great!!!:gluck:

    Stocky's Band-day

Hi, They seem to be doing fine. The little steri-strips have yet to fall off, so I have not been able to see how they actually look. But I was able to sleep on my stomach last night. The other nights it was the gas that kept me from sleeping on my stomach mainly--pressure in my belly. They are not sore or anything. SOmetimes they give me a little itchy feeling, which is good...means they are healing nice. Good Luck

:update:   :horn: :horn: I was banded last week Tuesday. I told myself I would not weigh myself until my post-op appointment with surgeon. I cheated!! :cheer2: :cheer2: I weighed myself today and I'm down 14 pounds since surgery and 25 since pre-op diet. :drum: :becky: I'm so happy about this. Stocky's Band-day

I'm Home and Banded!!! *Special Message for my March and April Bandsters* Hey gang, Well I'm finally home. Didn't leave the hospital until about 4pm, then sat in traffic for quite a while. Needless to say on Tuesday morning I was a bit nervous, but not much. I really love my surgeon and have complete trust in him and God to get me to the other side safely. I arrived at the hospital and checked it. They took me back, where they set me all up....placed the IV and gave me a shot in the belly (blood thinner), and ran some antibiotics. The nurses were so friendly and funny, so this made it a very relaxing environment. Usually the pre-op staff are great, because they know folks are a little nervous etc. I met with the anestesiologist (sp?) (I'm on morphine right now..cut me a break) He explains everything to me and really made me feel comfortable. When they were ready to take me back he gave me something ...happy juice. I barely remember being taken into the OR. I remember seeing all the people in the OR and then I was out!! The next thing I know one of the girls in the OR is telling me to wake up. I felt NO PAIN...I opened my eyes and it was a bit blurry at first, but I saw my surgeon and gave him a thumbs up. I remember it was hard to speak at first. It didn't hurt, just nothing would really come out. I didn't have any troouble waking up..Even my recovery nurse was amazed at how awake I was. Again NO PAIN. I woke up with my morphine and it was all good. Honestly, I was really surprised as to how easy this surgery was. And I have not experienced any pain at all, some soreness that I would compare to doing 100 sit-ups the day before. From the time I was taken to my room (about 2:00pm) I was walking the halls with no problem at all. I walked at least 15 min. at a time 3-4 times a day. I even met a cutie in the hall while I was walking. He too had an operation (back surgery) Yep look at me flirting and feeling fiesty already Today I thought I would be brave and didn't use any morphine until about noon. And still NO PAIN just soreness. I started hitting it again because I started to feel a little neck and shoulder pain I've heard people mention. I didn't want it to be bad so I used the morphine for that. So hear I am at home feeling quite fine. I want to thank you guys again for all the support. This being my first operation ever..you support was so important to me. I hope this helps some of the anxiety my other March and April bandsters may be having. I know everybody handles things differently, BUT FOR ME THIS WAS CAKE!!! Trust me...whatever you imagin it to be like...the reality will be 5X easier than that. Now back to sleep Cristina
