How much exercise do you do weekly?
♥dreamable replied to ididit34's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
40 minutes on the elliptical every day. I started at 5 minutes at a time, and each week added another 5 minutes. I am pretty happy with doing 40 minutes for now, as I have upped the intensity of the 40 minutes instead of adding longer to my time for now. -

in the midst of a slow stall... today's weigh-in 173.4 -
Exactly 6 weeks post-op and down my first 50lbs today! WOOOHOOO I'm 1/3 of the way to my goal. I don't notice a huge difference in how I look yet, (but man do I notice a HUGE difference in how I feel and my energy level already).

I have noticed this going out to eat. THe other day I was at a 'bar' for a luncheon and there was literally nothing on their menu I could eat. EVERYTHING was deep fried. I finally opted for the only thing that wasn't fried- a hamburger without a fun.. but it was so greasy.. I ended up throwing it all up shortly after. It's only the second time I've thrown up post-op, but won't be eating at that place again. LOL

You know you have made a lifestyle change when....
♥dreamable posted a topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
... your kids are stressing you out, so you jump on the elliptical for 35 minutes ... you are having trouble waking up in the morning and instead of reaching for the coffee, you go work out. I used to HATE to exercise. (When we were younger my mom would punish us by making us exercise). I just had these revelations this past weekend when casually mentioning how funny this was to my sister, that I was loving exercising so much and using it to replace my bad eating habits and she made the comment, "That's when you know you really have made a lifestyle change!" SO it got me thinking, what other things have you all noticed where you thought the same things?- 2 replies

My first NSV happened this past weekend. I was at my grandparents house and sat down in their dining room table chairs and where normally my butt would have spilled over on both sides, I had a good 2 inches to spare. I audibly said, "omg wow!" haha I wasn't expecting it, and it was great.

Have you tried unjury unflavored protein powder? You can mix it in everything!!!
-
You need to get in at least 60g of protein a day or you won't lose. That should be your only focus. Protein and liquids.

Just putting it out there, so 'dirty' little secrets may see the light of day!

The only rule I have broken 7 weeks post op was tgat I went to a concert and had a beer. My surgeon says wait a year post-op to drink. Lol. Only rule I beoke though Keeping on pureed foods for 6 weeks wasn't as hard as I thought at all. -
I was down 49lbs at my 6 week post op. Surgeon said I was having better than norm weight loss. So whatever that means... lol when I see before and after pics of others I feel like I am losing like a snail. I still don't see a difference in my appearance, although I already feel like a new person
-
I was just taken off pureed foods at 6 weeks post-op. Fried foods are still a no-no until 12 weeks for me. Granted that is even if I eat them again. Can you find some non fried protein options?

I am in. I do 30 a day on the elliptical... adding 5 more minutes each week.

280.6 for my weigh-in today -
Thank you!!!!! If I am not wearing my hoodie the weight loss is much more noticeable. That hoodie was "tight" the day of surgery and now it's getting too big, it's about to get donated (except it's like my security blanket LOL)
-
That sounds fairly "normal" for a recovery. I was the same, minus the fact I had a hernia repair and it took me FOREVER to finish drinking or anything. Now that I am on pureed foods, I notice I get full MUCH faster than if I am eating a Soup. I had sweet potatoes for my thanksgiving meal- and couldn't even eat 1/2 of a piece of one mushed up and I got that "omg I am so full I am sick" feeling. I HATE that feeling.

5 weeks post-op and can still fit into all of my "old" clothes
♥dreamable posted a topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I don't want to complain, but I need a little motivation today. I am almost 5 weeks post-op. I am only down around 40lbs, including the large amount of weight I lost pre-op. I am 5 weeks out and only down 26lbs since my surgery date. During the past 10 years of my life, I have fluctuated between 275 -350lbs (going up and down and up and down and up and down). I am stll not under the 275 mark, and all of my "old" clothes are still fitting me. Granted I can squeeze into some of the smaller pairs of jeans- the fact is almost all of them are still the 22/24 I was smooshing into at 350lbs. Everyone keeps telling me that I am looking great and that they notice my losses, but I just don't see it. I still feel the same as I did at 350 (minus the fact I have a ton more energy). I am getting in all of my Protein and liquids each day, not going over calores/fat/salt etc and exercising. I know I am doing everything I can, and I realize 40lbs is amazing- I just wish my mind reflected that. I used to lose weight in my face first, and this time that isn't happening, so my face still looks the same to me- massive double chin and all.- 17 replies

Questions for Alcohol Drinkers ONLY!
♥dreamable replied to Cape Crooner's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Darn hit enter too soon and cannot edit on mobile. I was also going to add that for myself personally I am trying to hold off on drinking as long as possible. Right now at 4 weeks post op I am still dealing with head hunger and feeling like I still want to emotional eat. I am an ex smoker and now working on becomming an ex food addict. I do not want to fill the voids with alcohol, so for myself, I am choosing to hold off on alcohol until I can get my mental game to a much better place. -
Questions for Alcohol Drinkers ONLY!
♥dreamable replied to Cape Crooner's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My surgeon has the same advice. I was was an avid wine/beer drinker pre- surgery (especially around the holidays). I am only 4 weks out, so no alcohol yet, but man do I look forward to a glass of wine someday lol I have family members with a sleeve and RNY and they both drink post-op. Aside from not drinking as much to getting drunk much faster they have had no other "complications"
