any tips for meals or how to add more protein?
SassyNanny replied to change4life's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I think those 30g premium bars have 290 cal. The 15g ones are 190. That's a lot of calories and carbs so be careful. I have been adding GENEPRO unflavored Protein powder to a Water bottle I drink a few ounces out of and add Mio drops for flavor and shake it up. One tbsp is is 39g of protein. Water and protein...can't beat that. 98 calories. An omelet for Breakfast with the Protein Powder mixed into the beaten eggs gives me a jumpstart on the protein too. Today I added mushrooms and one oz of chopped deli ham and 1/4 grated cheese it was 228 calories and delish! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk I think those 30g premium bars have 290 cal. My Dr told me no Jello right after surgery because it can go down in chunks if you don't chew it and can cause a blockage. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Keto Chow -- Good for Post-Op liquid diet?
SassyNanny replied to Kooky1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
In the beginning I ate 400-500 calories a day. At 4 months I'm at 600-800. We are warned not to drink our calories as it is a slippery slope. I wouldn't recommend doing drinks that calories dense. Right after surgery whatever works to get in fluids and Protein a little at a time is fine. After the first couple of weeks lower calorie would probably work better long term. You can try it and see how it works. We are all experimenting with what works for us individually. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

Are "Food Funerals" normal/okay?
SassyNanny replied to crazygoose's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I did. Big salads. Bread. Desserts. I bid them a fond farewell. I have no regrets. Sure I will have salads and maybe even bread if I have the need, but not in mass quantities. I'm really glad I had the surgery. I'm down 56pounds in 4 months. Funerals worked for me. Better the food than me having a funeral. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
Alcohol, parties, fun?

There apparently is a strong correlation between alcoholism and WLS. Do a search on this site or Google it. I had read an obituary recently where a family member blamed the WLS. I had no idea. Be careful out there. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

I don't think you would be human if you didn't second guess your decision. It has been easy for me as long as I stay out of my own head when I hit a stall. At 4 months out I've lost 55 pounds since surgery. When I'm only losing 2-3 pounds s week I sometimes think I could have dieted and done the same. Trouble was, I didn't. I can't eat mass quantities and I'm happy for that. Best Wishes! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
Why can't I lose weight after 3 weeks post-op!
SassyNanny replied to malvarez1210's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I know I'm full when it feels uncomfortable. Burping is a sign. Feeling nauseous means you ate too much. I didn't get a sense of satiation until I started on solid foods. liquids I could drink more of. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

Thanks for reaching out! It's great that you know when it's time to fess up and get real. Bad habits can be hard to break. For me I found the surgery took away my desire to eat cheaty things. I track on SparkPeople.com every thing I put in my mouth. I know my calories, carbs and Protein grams every day. I weigh myself every morning on my wifi Aria Fitbit scale so I have a graph of my progress and can see if I'm in any trouble. I have had stalls. One at 3 months lasted 3 weeks. It was tough but I kept tracking. It has been slow for me but it all adds up. At 4 months I'm now down 55 pounds and am losing 8-10 pounds a month lately. Please don't give up. You can do this. It's just getting into the habit of listening to your small stomach talk to you and follow the eating plan you were given. Track. Hydrate. Move more. Keep posting and fake it until you make it. Need some advice and a diet overhaul: 2 years post-op, 75 lbs down
SassyNanny replied to watchmeshine8's topic in Duodenal Switch Surgery Forum
Smart of you to reach out. You have a lot on your plate. It looks to me like you took a vacation from your plan. To make it work again you need to go back to basics. You were having headaches because you were going through sugar withdrawal maybe try a weekend of Protein shakes to refresh and start slow again like you did in the beginning. You know the drill. Protein first. Hit your Water and protein goals. Track every bite you put in your mouth on an online tracker. Your food has to be your number one priority. Without a healthy body you are useless to your parents and what is the purpose of all the schooling if you aren't healthy to have a career. It will get easier. You are number one. Treat yourself with the respect you deserve. The suggestions about seeing a counselor are on point. Best wishes! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
