Soooooo I have a surgical date...

Hope your surgery went well! This site was invaluable to me during my learning phase. Hmm. It's all been a learning phase. I'm 11 months out, 66, down 110 with 54 more to go. Life is so much better now!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    VSG or RNY

The sleeve was originally developed to be step one of a two phase surgery for extreme obesity cases. It was found that the sleeve alone was successful without having to have the second surgery to reroute the intestines. I would never have gotten the by pass surgeries, too invasive. Your Doctor sounds like he isn't current on this subject. I would keep looking personally. I'm 65, 11 months out and 110 pounds down with 54 more to go. I have been totally issue free and love it. sex drive, and depression

Aha! Chrissy from pictures you have posted you are wearing Patches? For pain? Maybe these could be the culprit.?? How did the Drs. Appointment go? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Hey Crissy! Looking forward to an update on how things are going. I saw Dubs note about the pain Patches. In your weakened condition be very careful about prescriptions. Instead of helping they can cause great damage. Hope you have gotten a great Doctor by now who is this out. Best Wishes! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Over 60 and having the sleeve

Welcome Judy, you're never too old is my thinking and I have absolutely no regrets. Even though I'm beginning to look like a deflated balloon with no clothes on I really don't care. As long as I start to look good IN them is enough for me. I like that I don't have to worry about squeezing through gaps or hope that 100kg weight limit chair will hold me and not crumple into a heap. The downside is that my formerly well cushioned backside gets very uncomfortable in a solid chair and I'm beginning to disappear behind the steering wheel of my car. So go for it lovely lady and let us know how you are. I agree! I don't want to have to think about skin removal because it freaks me out. Everyone thinks sharpei dogs are so cute, so are we, baggy skin and all. I feel great and friends are amazed at my new size when they see me. I just had a month stall after losing 100 pounds and in the last 2 weeks have lost 10 pounds. 110 pounds down in 11 months. 54 more to go. I'm ecstatic. If your health is okay there are great doctors willing to do this surgery on your age group. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

What a shame you are having all these issues. Your weight loss and physique are admirable but I can see in your face the pain and sadness you are in. I sure hope the new doctor can sort this out for you. Have you found anyone else on the forum or by googling who is having similar symptoms after the Wls surgery? Please keep us posted. Try and think positive thoughts about a solution in store for you really soon. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Over 60 and having the sleeve

Just checking in. It's been 10 months and I'm down 102. 60 more to go. I've been kind of static for a few weeks. I have gotten lazy about tracking. Starting tomorrow I'm back to that. I have to keep track so bad behaviors don't become bad habits again. I'm 65 and really happy that I had the gastric sleeve 11/18/15. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Scared

I weighed 324 at 5'4" 9 months ago. Today I'm 236, down 98 pounds. Blood Work is all normal. No problems, no regrets. Another 62 pounds to go. I'm 65. Be brave. It's worth it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. I'm 65 and just had my nine month surgiversary. I've lost 98 pounds, all my bloodwork was normal. I exercise at the Y twice a week and can eat anything with no problem. I avoid bread and Pasta most of the time but don't feel like I'm on a diet. I just have a new way of eating and eat so much less. I'm very happy and healthy. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Social media piks

I didn't post my surgery to FB but I did tell everyone one I see regularly. I'm not shy about telling my story to servers when ordering food or my nail lady etc. I didn't make a post on FB because I didn't want that to be the focus of my interactions with people. With 89 pounds lost on 8 months it is obvious in my pictures that I've lost weight. A few people private messaged me to ask what I've been up to. I'm proud of my accomplishment and might make a public post when I hit 100 pounds lost. Not sure yet. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. Wow! What a nightmare for you? In so glad that you are doing better now. I had an uneventful sleeve done Nov 18 2015. It's been great and I'm down 89 pounds. I want to just tell you that when you are out with friends no one will notice what you do or don't eat. Eventually you will be eating more normalized foods and you will be comfortable eating out. You probably not plan on hanging out with 20 somethings that drink to excess because that is something you won't be doing. Best wishes on continued success. You have been very brave. Hang in there, you will be to goal and maintenance soon. It will be your own new norm. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Ugh! HEAD HUNGER!

The best thing I do is track everything I eat. It really helps me stay accountable. I'm 8 months out and was on vacation recently and started grazing. Old patterns emerged. I didn't log for 2 weeks. Got home and started again and immediately lost the 4 lbs I'd gained plus 2 more. Maybe my sleeve needed a little vacay too! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Who the hell do you think you are?

I didn't advertise it on my Facebook but short of that I have told everyone I am I'm contact with. I am an extrovert and a life coach and being in my truth is not difficult for me. No one has ever said anything derogatory to me. Actually no one ever said anything derogatory to me when I weighed 300 lbs either. I remember when Star Jones publicly lied about not having had weight loss surgery. It really bothered me. If by my example someone else can learn about WLS being a viable option to get healthy I am pleased. I don't mind explaining it to people who are curious. How will people ever get to have a positive opinion about it if they don't have a personal experience with someone who has had it. I'm not ashamed that I needed help. I'm not hurt by people being ignorant about it and asking questions. My friends and acquaintances have been so supportive and I personally am really glad that they know all about it. In my life I have found that secrets are almost always toxic. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
