Has anyone done this without any family, etc. at the hospital?
SassyNanny replied to 280journey's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My neighbors dropped me off and picked me up. I had my sleeve done in a Surgical Center. I was supposed to go home the next morning but my blood pressure spiked and the Dr didn't like that I had no one at home and I have sleep apnea so he kept me there for another night. I didn't need anyone there. It would have been awkward. I felt really good once home. Walking was no trouble. I just felt like I had done 100 situps when I had to get up from my recliner. I slept in it for 2 nights. In the guest room for 2 because the bed is lower and them back to my tall bed that I have a step to get into on the 5th night after surgery. I probably could have gone to my bed sooner but I was being cautious. Two years ago I had a hip replacement and 18 months ago a knee replacement and no one was with me there either. -

Protein Drink witch one
SassyNanny replied to sharoninidaho's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I use Premium Protein from Costco and I really like the chocolate and the vanilla. The strawberry cream is too sweet for me but my friend loves that flavor. I also got Genepro unflavored protein powder that I use in sf pudding and blended soups. I'm getting plenty of protein easily. I have been blending frozen fruit in my Premium Protein and it is delicious and my tummy doesn't mind. -
Why liquids for weeks after surgery? Did anyone cheat ?
SassyNanny replied to Scottyd1264's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My nut said to feed it like it was your newborn. Would you give your baby solid food before it was ready? "Here sweetie pie have a little scrambled eggs with your formula" Hell No!!!! Respect your new baby tummy and follow Drs orders. -

Good that it's a normal consequence of life and not a complication. Bet you are one jolly Santa!! You are going to have to start padding up to keep up Santa's appearance in the future. -
1 year surgery anniversary, before and after pics.

Wow! What a great accomplishment. I really appreciated that you learned new eating practices by losing a substantial amount before your surgery. That was a commitment that many of us never made. I'm very happy for your success. Thank you for sharing. About the aging. If you get a microdermabrasion facial it will slough off the layers of dead skin revealing fresher healthier looking brighter skin underneath. You can find deal on Groupon or Living Social in your local area. Afterwards use a daily moisturizer . Skincare isn't just for the ladies. -
Very discourged
SassyNanny replied to Munecagirl85's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks everyone! I needed to hear everything you have shared here. At 20 days out I have stalled as well and all of your great advise has meant the world to me. Not stressing out is my goal, along with 90g of protein and 64 oz of water. I've got the protein handled working up to 64 on the water. -

How much should i be able to drink?
SassyNanny replied to Wehrm's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I use Premier Protein liquid protein drinks from Costco and really like them. Sometimes I put one in the blender with frozen fruit and they are really delicious. I also ordered Genepro unflavored protein powder to add to soups, purees and puddings. They both have 39g of protein a serving. Huge amount of protein!! Best Wishes! -

Oh Dear, Des! I'm so sorry to hear you got sick. Does your Dr think it's related to your surgery or just a arbitrary bout? Drink lots of fluids ( easier said than done, right?) and don't take your antibiotic on an empty stomach. Get Well Soon! -

How much should i be able to drink?
SassyNanny replied to Wehrm's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I use Genepro flavorless protein crystals in blended soups and pudding. My Dr said 1-2 oz water every 15 min and 1-2 oz protein drink ( I enjoy Premier Protein from Costco 30g protein in 11oz.) For gas try Gas-X dissolvable sheets. They are a refreshing minty taste which helps. -

I've seen TV ads for a new sleep apnea treatment. It works like a pacemaker and is imbedded in your body. In reading the literature the negative was you couldn't get an mri while you are wearing one in your body. -

I need food! 7 days post op
SassyNanny replied to scarlep's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm day 18. After a week I was sick of sweet Premier Protein drinks too. My Dr said that if something would suck up s straw it's a liquid. (Can't use straws. Just an example). I've been putting Progresso soup in my nutribullet and after heating it up adding Genepro powdered protein. It's 30 grams of protein a tablespoon. Saved my sanity. I also have been blending frozen peaches and bananas in my protein drinks. A little pumpkin pie spice on the vanilla one is yummy. I heat them up sometimes for hot cocoa or vanilla egg noggishness. I'm on liquids for 4 weeks. That newborn baby stomach needs to heal and I don't want to get ahead of what it can handle. -

Genepro makes a crystallized protein whey that is odorless and tasteless. Mixed with hot or cold. It was very sick of sweet too. Now I can add it to blended soup I'm a happy girl. Btw. I had used progresso soups for years and knew they were high in sodium. A whole can was about 1500g. I got some regular old Campbell's cream of chicken. Didn't thin it out just heated it up. The can had 4400g of sodium. I was flabbergasted. -

You are braver than I am. I'm 12 days out and have season tix to theater Wednesday night with friends. We always go to dinner before the show. I just can't imagine being in that situation quite yet. Not even sure where they are picking to go to dinner or if there is anything liquid in the menu I could have. I suppose any place with soup I could have the chef blend it for me. Never had to ask for that before. I'm going to meet them at the theater. I'm glad you were able to enjoy your friends at dinner!
