Problems staying motivated during Pre op weight loss

I totally understand how hard it is to do something you are not motivated to do. A question that comes to mind - could this be self-sabotage? Now that your goal is becoming a reality, are you afraid of succeeding?

    2 step revision

I have an office job and am takng three days. Surgeon said some could do band removal on Friday and go back to work on Monday. I'm 64 and didn't see that being wise for me.

    2 step revision

I am a 2 step revision. My band was placed in 2010 and was a problem from the start. My surgeon is removing it this week. We will wait 12 weeks for things to heal and revise to bypass in June.
  6. I am having my lap band out next week and will have my bypass surgery in June. Excited and nervous!
  7. I am so sorry you are so miserable. Remember, losing weight may release hormones and that could affect your mental health. Please seek both mental and physical help for your pain.

    Food stuck and sliming

I totally understand. My band has been empty for over 2 years, but I still have heartburn and can't eat vegetables or meats. food still gets stuck and I vomit and slime 2-3 times per week. Surgeon put me on protonix for the heartburn and it helps a lot. Hope you find a solution that works.
  13. I was told the same thing - that if I showed an overall gain, the insurance probably would deny coverage for the surgery.
  14. You look great - your pictures motivate me. Your posts have encouraged and Enlightened me.

    Sodas

I gave up a 50 year habit of drinking diet sodas last September as preparation for my RNY in March. First I switched to caffiene free diet coke and then, prepping with lots of aspirin to keep ahead of the headache pain, switched to Water. The side benefit was that I, too, lost my craving for sweets. Best to you. For me, it was one of those things that's harder to anticipate than to do,
  16. These are great questions. I am an introvert, and truly enjoy a lot of time on my own. However, I also know that I avoid new situations and experiences because I don't want to be judged. I, too, was the smart, fat girl - with glasses. I lived in my head and in my books. I'm hoping that as I lose weight I will find the courage to participate in and experience more of what life has to offer.
  17. Hi, everyone. I'm new to this site and expect to have revision from band to bypass in Jan / Feb. I'm started the 6 month nutrition on Jun 30 - and just completed all the other hoops except cardiac clearance. My big news is that last Friday, 9.26.2015, I gave up a 50 year diet Coke habit cold turkey. I am 63 and started at 13. The only other time I quit for a significant length of time was for 3 months with the lap band and 9 months with pregnancy. I have decided that this 6 month NUT period is like being pregnant with the new me. Putting me first is new to me, and I am very proud of myself. Looking forward to sharing this journey with all of you!
