Pain/Discomfort/Recovery: C-Section vs. Gastric Sleeve?
rking replied to AmyQwith2's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
my sleeve was MUCH easier than either of my C sections. the soreness in my stomach the first couple of days reminded me of my C sections, but it was more soreness than pain. i really had no pain with the sleeve. as a matter of fact, the sleeve was the easiest surgery i have had. -
i was allowed to have coffee and tea as long as i did not put sugar and cream in. i am still allowed. it just depends on your doctors orders. i know tea/coffee acts as a diuretic so i cannot have much. you should talk to your doctor about it and see if he will allow a small amount.

I did confirm, from an expert, that "new whey protein" tubes are mostly collagen protein and are worthless for WLS protein goals. However, they are good for hair, skin, and nails.

New Whey Protein Shots
rking replied to Thecloude1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
OK. I finally talked to an expert. This guy has a masters degree in nutrition and I trust his knowledge completely. He said that "new whey protein" that comes in the tube is mostly collagen protein and that we only absorb 4% , just as someone mentioned earlier. It is not something we want to use to get our 100 g of protein (or whatever your amount is) but it is good for your hair, skin, and nails. I am very disappointed but am glad I found out. -
So hard to stay positive when there is always someone to beat you down.

I had a meniscus repaired about three years ago. I have had an ACL reconstruction and a partial replacement. I thought the meniscus repair would be easy peasey but it wasn't that simple. I was still pretty sore. I also had a surprise microfracture done and I'm sure that didn't help not being a big deal. It wasn't horrible by any means, but I really thought it would be absolutely no big deal.

It seams I am missing something previous to this thread, but @@Fat2Phat2016 if someone is dogging on you for whatever reason, forget them. Not sure why someone would "attack" you, but it seems ridiculous. If you did attack first, then so be it. Sometimes we say things out of anger. I have done that plenty of times believe me and many times I have regretted it. Just be done with all of this. Move on. Don't even respond anymore to anything you consider negative directed toward yourself. Just get rid of the thread, don't start any more unless it deals with WLS and move on. You are a wonderful person and we all have many wonderful things to be thankful for. Start focusing on all the pounds we are all losing!!!!!!!!! Well, all of y'all, haha, I seem to be stuck AGAIN. Go out, my dear, talk a long walk, and clear your mind of the negativity. Like I said, think about all the great friendships we share Have a wonderful evening my friend! -

I drank real Coke, until I started my pre op diet. I am 8 weeks post op and haven't had one. Doc said it would stretch my sleeve. Do I still want them? Hell yes. I want one now but I refuse to have one and risk my weight loss at all. I have been through too much. Maybe one day I will never want one again.... Who knows.

GORGEOUS!!!!!

What can you have? I was only on liquid and premier protein shakes saved me. I wasn't really hungry at all. Head hunger is tough. When you get it walk. Read. Clean house. Do something. Take your mind somewhere else. You can do this! I never was starving. I also had millions of sugar free Popsicles. There are some in a clear bag which tastes great. Drink water or broth when hungry. YOU control your mind. Don't let it be the other way around. We all go thru pre op diet, well most of us. Kick its butt!!

Take oxy as often as bottle allows you. I was supposed to crush pills and did a few days then said screw it. It was as close to puking as I came. Get that oxy down girl! Good stuff.

What does it feel like right afterwards?
rking replied to ld33's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Stomach was sore but not painful. I was on morphine pump from 2:00 pm to 7:30 am and was real groggy but definitely no pain. No nausea. Then started on hydrocodone. Did the job. Never had any pain or nausea. Few days later body felt normal. What is different is only sipping a little bit at a time and trying to get all fluids in. Easiest surgery I have had. -
@@HopeandAgony you hit the nail on the head! Most have not been to the dark inner depths of depression to the point of contemplating suicide. Outsiders see it as selfishness when, indeed, the person actually believes the world and its people would be better off without them. They think they are doing a service for their loved ones. My sister suffers greatly. Thank you for posting such wonderful advise.

Please, please, please find another surgeon. He sounds like a complete ass. You need a caring doctor who truly cares about you. He is not that. Most of the people on here have wonderful surgeons who they love, including me. Where are you from? Maybe someone can recommend someone. It is important to me that you have a surgeon you love and trust. It makes all the difference in the world. I am so deeply sorry for your loss and I am glad you are realizing it is not your fault. Bless his heart, depression is a horrible disease. We are all here for you sweetheart. YES! You can do this. You have a fabulous tool to help you! Good luck to you!!!!!

You are almost at goal at 15 weeks???? Wow! That is amazing! -
I agree with Cherri. Stay ahead of your pain meds. Take as often as prescribed whether you feel you need them or not so pain won't sneak up on you. What pain med do you have? Hopefully you have something prescription.

The post op return to work
rking replied to nurse247's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had surgery on Tuesday and could have gone back to work the next Monday or Tuesday if I had to but was off the week for thanksgiving. -
That's why I get a glass of water, about 15 oz or so and pour 1/3 of the tube in. I just bought a berry one today and it tastes great. Have a message into my doc about the collagen protein. I looked at the amino acids and am talking to my nephew about it who was a biology major and knows protein and amino acids very well.

Starting to lose it ????

Try some sugar free Popsicles. -
actually my nurse suggested them for me. I had about a third of the tube to a glass of ice Water. I like the grape flavor. Do not get the fruit punch. It is nasty. You can add some lemon if you like. It tastes like grape kook aide. I have been doing them everyday. I have not heard it was junk Protein. I am going to call doc and see what they say.
