    Post surgery pain level?

I have had two csection a and I can kind of compare to that. Not pain wise, but the uncomfortableness of getting up and down. I guess it was a little painful, maybe a 3, but it is totally do-able. I was pleasantly surprised by the level of pain, or should I say non pain. I was on a morphine pump too. I kept that sucker going so I could stay ahead of the pain.... A trick I have learned from knee surgeries. I stopped morphine on my own. The pain I had was completely tolerable.

    Bariatric vitamins

I take BariActiv vitamins. I ordered the nasal spray B12 (weekly) and they come with it free. There is a multi and calcium, all chewable. I DO NOT wanna lose my hair and I want my energy so I am very strict on myself about vitamins. Nasal spray is prescription and I pay $25 a month for all through insurance.

    Pre op diet opinions

Premier protein shakes saved my butt. I have heard from my doc that some don't tolerate those very well. Please check to see if you are allowed fruit, blended or not. I was not allowed any. Or soup. I could have broth, protein shakes, water, sugar free Popsicles.... Which also saved the day. Good luck!!!

    What Would You DO?!

I think you should try to move it up. A new job and new eating habits at the same time!!!! Congrats!!
  9. I could have left the next day but stayed an additional night cuz we had a five hour drive home. I think an extra night might be good for you to rest and heal more. Txbariatricguy, who is your doc? I have had a great experience too.

    Liver Reduction Diet

I'm sure your mother wants you to take care of yourself and to live a long healthy life for her granddaughter. I am only a week out of surgery and am liking what I see already. I, like you, am concerned about eating just to eat. My sister and I just had this discussion. She feels I am tired of being big and have worked too hard and spent too much money for me not to tough it out. I think she is right! I think once you start seeing some pounds drop you will be motivated too . My pre op diet wasn't as horrible as I thought, however, it was the worst part of all of this. So, hang in there. YOU CAN DO IT! You are already passed the hardest days!!!! Don't cheat, it's like starting over. Good luck!!! Everyone is scared and gets nervous! My sister did it three years ago and she looks GREAT!!!!

    Aetna Insurance

Mine was turned in on a friday. I called next Thursday and had been approved, although they did say up to 30 days. I did not get a letter for two weeks.
  12. Sorry y'all are having nausea. That would really suck. I had mine on 17th. Doing well.
  13. I can't even have pudding or anything but clear liquids for two weeks. I have to have isopure drinks or other drinks with high protein. I have never had nausea. Had a bum about day 3 I think.

Protein Shakes - Do I have to?

My doc won't even let me have protein shakes until week 3. I am on clear liquids only. I MUST drink isopure protein drinks for my protein. He is very conservative but I have to say I have had not one ounce of nausea and I feel great!!! I think I feel better than I should. I have broth, Gatorade, water, isopure and auger free Popsicles. I actually feel like I could handle mashed taters or soups or yogurt but I will not risk it. Was yours on 17th? Mine was.

    Holy hunger!

Y'all.... We are going to be hungry. We just need to fill ourselves with the correct portions and correct food!!! Eat slowly so it has time to go down and fill us. We can do this!!!!!!

    Holy hunger!

I was sleeved on 17th. I thought I was hungry today. I decided it was head hunger. I am going to have an issue with that. Have been on liquid diet for 2.5 weeks and I want real food!!!! I don't however, think it is real hunger. I do think we all are really going to have to work on not loving food so much. I find myself wanting my sugar crap that got in this mess to begin with. Are you able to eat and drink much Protein? Maybe try Protein shakes with casein protein that is longer lasting than whey? I sometimes think the sleeve is magic and I will never have hunger ever again. I can see already I am going to have to be disciplined and eat the right stuff. I have done too much to gain weight back. Have you thought of drinking lots of Water to try to curb your hunger? Good luck!!!
  17. I also wanted to say I did not reach my fluid goals the first few days but I was not that concerned cuz I was healing and didn't wanna feel bad. I have not been nauseated one single time. Fluids feel way better going down now. Day 3 I started feeling pretty good. So , yes, it gets better each day!!!
  18. I think you are nuts to get off your pain medicine! I say in a loving way! There is no need for pain. I too had fever from surgery and I felt like death so I completely understand. That was the worst part of surgery (beside the pre op liquid diet). You got down a lot of liquids!!!! I finally got down about 12! I am about 30-40 (goal of 48 today). My surgery was Tuesday. I will stay on pain meds as long as I can . This has been very easy as far as I'm concerned except for the day I had fever. Then I thought I was dying . Glad you are doing better!!!
  19. In my opinion, that is unacceptable. Get the paperwork out of the pile and get it to insurance! I would question the hell out of them. Can your doctor not approve the surgery himself? I, myself, would be bugging them to death. Ask them if this is normal practice. It can be done in a nice way, as it is not a good thing to make them mad. It makes me really appreciate my doctors office a lot. I had my stuff in order, knew what I needed, got it done, and was sure they did not have to wait on me. They are so confident in their work that I had a surgery date before my insurance was approved. The staff and Doctor was very on the ball. Are they too busy? Too many patients? Keep me posted.

    Dying!

You CAN be truthful on your feelings. I really appreciate your honesty!!!!! I tell ya, to me, the 14 day pre op liquid diet was the worst part of this whole thing. I had surgery on Tuesday. Life is pretty good right now, and the first two days were kinda tough, but day 3 was sooooo much better! Hope you are doing well and good luck to you. Keep us posted!!!

    How are you doing????

    New to group

    How are you doing????
  23. I stayed in contact with doc office. They sent it on friday and it was approved the next Thursday. I didn't get a letter until two weeks after approval date. Check online call don't wait for a letter. I also learned to be proactive. Don't sit and wait to be notified for everything. Call and check on everything.
  24. I love premier protein shakes, but I just found out from doc office that many people have issues with it so they don't suggest taking it. I liked canned broth. Sugar free Popsicles are the best!!!!!!! Have lots! Water fills you up. Drink lots. If you are not allowed caffeine, start weaning NOW!! Mine let me have it just NOT the sugar or cream. And I have caffeine now. I think that is why most people feel so bad and have headaches. I did not. I felt fine. It was hard however, due to the fact that food is a friend of mine and I felt lost without it. To me, being 3 days post op, is the hardest part of this whole thing. STAY BUSY!!! Find things to do or sleep!! Go to bed early and stay out of kitchen past 7:00.
  25. Try walking more when your pain meds are in full effect. Walking takes away the gas that gets trapped in chest and back including upper back. Walking helps! That and gas strips. Each day is better and better!
