It seems to me from all my reading on here that not all offices do a good job. I am so lucky to have a wonderful doc and staff. I was given paperwork that detailed instructions, diet, pre op, first 7 weeks post op. I read and read and highlighted and highlighted and took notes on that paperwork. I agree, some people don't do their homework and don't read what was given to them. You have to take responsibility yourself, it is your life and surgery and body. Be sure you get educated, hopefully by doc and NUT, and if not educate yourself. I would be Leary of a doctors office that didn't give me ALL the info I needed personally. This is a GREAT place to ask questions!!!!!! I love the people here. I knew just what to expect and feel after surgery. I was so prepared!!!!

@ are you serious????? i had no clue and would have never ever known!!! thank you so much! that makes my life so much better i really need the added Protein powder just to make even 60 g of protein and lumpy is gross! makes me wonder how in the heck i am going to get to 100 g of protein in a few weeks. and Water too! i have had 22 oz of water today and dont want any more. i am supposed to have 64 oz a day! doc said to take a sip every 15 min. i guess thats what i have to do to get it in. geez, all of this stuff is harder than i thought!!!!! -
i cannot do weights until 6 weeks out. i honestly feel if you start doing weights after you are healed, you will have more energy, not less. exercise gives us energy. i think you will feel great, both physically and mentally.

@@Babbs, i noticed your starting weight is similar to mine and you weight now is my goal weight. so, you had surgery about a year and a half ago? i am 3 weeks out and have lost 17 pounds. i am really happy with that. i am just curious as to how much i will lost as time goes on, and in 3 or 4 more weeks i get to eat real food, which makes me think my weight loss will really go down because i have been on liquids and yogart and homemade Soup (2 weeks, liquids 4 weeks). i am actually kinda worrying about losing weight once i am on real food. do you mind telling me about how much you lost at different time intervals? at the end of july when i started my journey, i was 224. surgery date, nov 17, i was 215. i am now 198. also, i would have thought i would have dropped a size in clothing from 224 to 198 but have not. when did you drop a size? thank you in advance!!!

i feel so bad for so many of you. from the day i left the hospital on november 19, until last friday, i felt wonderful. i mean, it could not have been any better. i continued my liquid hydrocodone until it was gone, which was about a week or so. yes, i like it. it made me feel really good :):) last friday and through the weekend, i felt like hell. i thought, i knew this was too good to be true. i learned from this site that i was dehydrated. i even had a little fever on sunday. i drank and drank and drank Water and felt great again monday. thank goodness!!! my doctor is very conservative, which has been good for me. 2 weeks pre op, liquid diet... no Soup. 2 weeks post op, clear liquid diet. sucked. next two weeks, which is now, i can add yogart and homemade soup that has been blended in a blender with no lumps. i can have sugar free pudding. i am supposed to have 60 g Protein and 64 oz water daily. i am struggling to get all that in. sometimes i hate him. just kidding, i love him to death. i am having issues with the powder protein. actually, i am about to start a new topic about it. it grosses me out. it is lumpy. even in hot things. not to mention you have to add a gallon of it.... the scoop is so big. so i have learned to add 1/4 or 1/3 of a scoop at a time. i just barely get in my protein and i still am not getting 64 oz of water. maybe 40. i really need to work on that. maybe some of you should try going more liquid. i could also have no sugar added juice and all the sugar free popsicles i wanted. dannon light greek yogart has 12 g protein which helps. Isopure has 40 g of protein, although i could not finish one in a day. maybe your system is not ready for what you are giving it. -
Do you eat when you're hungry?
rking replied to JupiterinVirgo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
what, exactly, are you suposed to be having right now? how far out from surgery are you? are you getting enough Water? it sounds like from your post that you are supposed to be having Protein shakes. those are a huge deal! it doesnt seam like you are eating/drinking enough. i think you should call your doc immediately. let them know what is going on so they can help you my dear. -
Woooo scale is going down!
rking replied to hollybower's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i was on phen for about 3 years. in the beginning it worked really well. i suggest taking it about 11:00 am unless it keeps you up at night. i needed to take it then for it to last me through the day and early evening. some people take it in the morning and cannot sleep at night. i suggest trying it early morning your first time to see how it affects you. after a good amount of time it seems the effectiveness wore out, however, now that i am 3 weeks post op i am no longer taking it. i have to admit, i miss it. it gave me the pep that i needed. i will be happy to answer any questions you have about it. great job on your weight loss!!!! -
Omg! I am so excited!! I don't remember when I was under 200. It has come so quickly!!!!!!

Oh wow! I am so sorry you feel so bad!!!!! Holy cow!!! I had surgery Nov 17 and I am only 17 pounds downs and I am very, very, excited about that!!!! Are you staying in contact with your doctor and NUT? Stay in touch, it seems like what you are doing is not working. Maybe time to try something else. Hang in there!!!!! -
I am 3 weeks post op and I am soooo jealous of you. I am doing great other than that No problems to speak of! How are you @@ladee2279???? How do you feel? Take those pain meds!!

Why liquids for weeks after surgery? Did anyone cheat ?
rking replied to Scottyd1264's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I didn't want to cheat realizing I had a long line of staples (and glue) holding my stomach together. I need my stomach to heal with no issues. A few weeks is a short time and it's not worth it. -

Thank you for sharing! It is amazing how different doctors do things. May I ask how much you have lost? I have lost 17 lbs since surgery and I am three weeks out tomorrow. Good loss, but I'm not down a size yet. About how much is lost to drop a size? I'm sure it differs but I'm anxious to drop a size, or four hahah

Lightheaded 19days post op help
rking replied to rking's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wow! Thank you! I have pretty much determine it was dehydration. I have been really drinking water and today I feel great again. I would have never thought it was dehydration..... What I get for not keeping up. I haven't felt my center of gravity change but that makes good sense!!!!! -
I have felt literally perfect until friday. I started feeling lightheaded. Friday I didn't get much down at all. Yesterday I felt better and got my fluids and protein in. Today I have had 19 g of protein, some milk, yogurt, and soup. I feel really lightheaded. I know my body is changing. I have lost 17 pounds since surgery date. Am I doing something wrong? I will call doc tomorrow, but I wanna have a good day to day and get some things done.
