As a woman who has been on antidepressants for 25 years, and has a minor in Psychology, and am also certified to teach it, I feel really knowledgeable about the subject. I do see a psychiatrist now for my antidepressants. I used to get them from my general doctor. I love my shrink. He knows I love physiology and I love the brain and it's chemistry. I highly suggest you get back on your meds. Do some reading up on chemicals in the brain and how meds work. It seems as though your depression did not only come from being overweight. It is time to get back on them, in my opinion. See how that works for you. I can certainly understand the high you got from losing all the weight. I feel as if I am on one and I am only a month out. How about looking for a support group in your area? It would be good for you socially. It will get you out of the house once more a month. Meet friends from here that live nearby or from a support group and go walking or exercising. Stay on this site for support. Hang in there!!!! I know it will get better, just find what will make it better and stick to it!! -

rking replied to CowgirlJane's topic in WLS Veteran's Forum

rking replied to denisa's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i am just now getting to eat pureed food... mashed potatoes, cream of wheat, oatmeal, applesauce. i have had a bite of chicken and it does feel very heavy. i dont think my stomach is ready for meat yet. i am not allowed to have it for 2 more weeks. i wonder what the difference is, i.e., why mine is so conservative. i know i have staples and glue holding my stomach together. does anyone else know what is holding theirs together? -
I had three month pre surgery regimen for insurance. Included continual weight loss, psychologist clearance, four appointments with nutritionist, exercise program. For doc, I had to have cardiac clearance which included heart sonogram and stress test. Had EGD.

My doc said the first two days are the worst. He was right. Should be better tomorrow! Your day is almost here!!!!

I'm having the three week stall. Had great loss, 17 pounds in three weeks, and now, the stall. How many days does it last??

One day I started having them every fees hours. It was weird. The next day I started feeling bad. Lasted 3 days. Turns out I was dehydrated. So I drank a whole bunch of water and have kept hydrated. Felt good the next day and no moe hiccups. Not sure if it's related or not.....

I always get fever when I have any surgery. Take your temp. If it's below 101 you should be fine but if it's higher call doc. Fever made me feel like death.

Whey protein goes thru your system quicker than egg and casein protein. Thus, the latter makes you feel full longer.

I was sleeved on the 17th. I have occasionally felt I had no energy but not very often. I take B12 prescription nose spray weekly. I take 3 calcium chewable a and 2 multivitamins, which come with my nose spray. I feel pretty darn good.

I was very lucky. I told lots of people and every single one was supportive. I think that was rare. I wouldn't have cared if they weren't supportive. My decision had been made and their opinion would not have mattered to me.

Just learned my surgeon doesn't give pain meds after surgery!
rking replied to Tishthedish's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have had two major knee surgeries and talk about pain!!!!! I was taught to stay ahead of the pain and take pain meds as often as prescribed. I did that. I needed that. With my sleeve, I followed the same advice. Used my morphine pump a lot the first day. Then hydrocodone. When I left hospital I felt great and didn't have pain really. Yes, stomach was sore, but I wouldn't say painful. Good idea about the PCP. I also agree that if you were in a lot of pain in the hospital you would probably get something. -
I just love the weight loss surgery podcast!
