I forgot to mention that I make sure if get my protein for fear of losing hair. @@Babbs says some people are just going to either lose it or not lose it. I believe her cuz she has been through it. I'm sticking to my protein so do what you need to to get it in.

I am five weeks at and from this point on my doc says minimum of 75 g of Protein and try to get 100. I feel ya. I wonder how to get it all in. I know that I will have to add Protein powder to everything I can. coffee, milk (I love milk, fairway milk has more protein than normal milk). My nurse got me to get the New whey bullets. liquid Protein that has 42 g. It doesn't taste very good so I put some in Water and squeeze some lemon or orange in it. Helps me get my liquid and protein in which I constantly battle with. Like I said I will just have to add powder to Soups, make Protein shakes that have a full scoop of powder. When I am eating real food again in another week, maybe it will help getting in some fish and chicken. Good luck!!!

Great job!!!!!!!! Glad no real pain to speak of!!!!! Don't worry, it will come. I am only five weeks out but vividly remember drinking sips from medicine cups. Man. It was hard getting anything down!!!!! Doc told me 32 oz of Fluid when I left hospital. Was tough to do. Now I'm at 64. Glad you are doing so well!!

I have read people getting a "drain", does everyone get a "drain"
rking replied to Scottyd1264's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I did not have a drain or a catheter. Lucky me!!! -
According to my doc, it's all about the protein so I make sure I get protein in daily.

First of all, in my opinion you need back on that antidepressant!!!! Tell doc what you feel and how you need help. Beg if necessary. Everyone has said all I can say except one thing...... I find that if I do something for others, it makes me feel better. I, too, suffer from depression and have for years. Maybe volunteer somewhere locally. Help the homeless, help at a shelter. Something. Hang in there sister. Things will get better. My email is midlandrhonda@gmail.com if you want to keep in touch.

I'm going to tell you my story about that so maybe it will help you. I thought it would be best to get as much down me as possible for it to take effect. I got a cherry flavored Boyle. I only had to do one bottle. So I put it on ice and added some water cuz it was really tart. I drank about 3/4 of it in about oh 30 min or so. I started feeling kinda bad. About an hour and a half later I puked up everything I had in my stomach which was very little. I puked and puked and dry heaved. Then I called doc. Said to drink warm water with Lemmon to settle my stomach down and then I had to buy another bottle cuz I had to get it down. She suggested I drink a little at a time followed by warm water. So I sipped on it and warm water over a three and a half hour period. That flavor was Lemmon and was much better. I held it down and it worked.

Men, Food, Booze: 3 days Post-op
rking replied to sleevedup's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi sweetheart! I know a lot of us here are for reasons other than being hungry. I am 4.5 weeks out and am doing much better as far as head hunger goes. There are still times I want food for comfort, like when I'm really stressed. I can say that seeing weight fall off totally motivates me to not eat what I am not supposed to, also, I CANT eat much without getting stuffed. I have seen many resources posted on here. There are books that help with eating for reasons you mentioned. I think it would be a good idea to find a therapist who specializes in this kind of thing. It couldn't hurt, right? I wish you the best of luck. You can do this, I know you can!! -
Congrats!!!

What to expect the first week......
rking replied to Scottyd1264's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I stayed overnight at hospital two nights because I was 5 hours away. I had already taken two weeks off work, well, actually, we were already off a week for Thanksgiving. I wanted to get my rest the first week. I felt really, really, good. I still took my pain medicine because there was no reason not to take it. I did not have pain when I got home. Yes, I was still a little sore when I got up and down. I walked around at home, sometimes feeling a little weak. That is to be expected; I just had major surgery. I sipped out of medicine cups. Still could not hold much Fluid, I just took it a little at a time. It is extremely important to get all you fluid in. I had to get 32 oz a day. That consisted of Water, gatorade, no added sugar fruit juice, sugar free popsicles, broth. I am glad my doc would not let me do Protein drinks or Soup for 2 weeks. I hear so many people on here have issues getting that stuff down. Clear liquids for 2 weeks. I stayed in bed a lot watching tv, mostly because I have a sleep number that the back raises into a sitting position almost. It is important to sit in a chair as well. Each day I got more energy and felt better. The surgery itself was really easy for me and the recovery as well. It is the pre op liquid diet that was hardest on me. Good luck!! -

Nut didn't give me Carb guidelines...?
rking replied to katiet0526's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
My doc gave me a number to stay under for carbs but I forgot what it was. I was going to ask on here too. I was thinking 40-50 but that seems low. I guess I could do the math. He said 55% of my diet should be protein, 30% fat, 15% carbs. I'm only four weeks out so my calories are still low. I'm just beginning puréed foods. -
good lord. take care of yourself and him. im so sorry.
