  1. I have 3 appointments today. pre-op at 9 am. Post -op Do's and Don'ts at 11 am then pre-admission at 12:45 pm. I'm going to pack my cooler with Protein shakes and Water and head out at 8 am! Feeling anxious and excited all rolled up together!
  2. Thanks for all the positive thoughts and feedback. I will let you know what happened at my pre-op appointments but keep in mind, my surgery is at a military hospital. My first appointment was with my surgeon. After I checked in and they took my vitals, I met the chief resident, followed by the intern then the surgeon. I was able to ask them any questions and they went over the expectations. My next appointment was with the head bariatric nurse. She went over all the do's and don'ts of surgery before, during and after. That was about 45 minutes, and it was also a question and answer kind of forum. My last appointment was pre-admissions and it took me over 2 hours. I checked in, signed forms...waited...had my vitals taken...waited....signed more forms....waited....got called back by a nurse and went through Hippa, privacy, authorization forms and had more blood work ordered....waited.....then had my pre-anesthesia appointment. Finally, I went to the lab for some last minute blood work. Having blood drawn has never bothered me but since I've been on all liquids for 11 days, it made me very nauseous and light headed. I was at the hospital for about 6 hours total. It was a very long day but it beats making several trips back and forth. Sorry for the lengthy post!
  3. I'm new to this forum and am trying to understand it all. I've set up two tickers which will personally help me. Yesterday, I stayed on my liquid diet, but moped around the house all day. I'm afraid I will sabotage my liquid diet by going out and about. I'm a school teacher so I've got a lot of time on my hands. My plan is to pack a cooler with my shakes and water then go run a few errands just to get out of the house. Tomorrow I have 3 pre-op appointments at SAMMC so that will keep me busy! Anybody else have similar struggles?
  4. I'm on day 10 of the liquid diet. I did get out of the house and stuck to it so I'm feeling pretty good about that. @@Invictus sorry you didn't get as much accomplished at school as you would like....I always over estimate how much I will get done when getting ready for school. I'm very fortunate on the insurance. My husband is active duty military so I had to jump through their hoops but from what I've read is minor compared to what many of y'all are going through. @ I'm so ready for puréed food too!
  5. I wish I could go set my room up but our school is closed for another week! My husband who is very supportive is going to set my classroom up - per my instructions of course. I too am worried about the workshops and back to school foods. The first couple of days I will still be on puréed foods. My husband and I were trying to come up with foods and/or restaurants I could eat at because you know as a teacher, it's all about where are you going to eat lunch on days when we don't have students. I did read somewhere that you can take a Quest cookie dough protein bar and slice it into eights and bake them on parchment paper for a "cookie" snack.
  6. I'm on day 9 of the liquid diet and I'm hungry, exhausted, moody and I don't want to do anything. Also, tired of the same drinks. My husband is very supportive but he just doesn't understand how I'm feeling. Does that make sense?
  7. Thanks for the feedback. I can have broth and sugar free jello. The lack of carbs and no caffeine definitely produces a killer headache!
