Thanks for all the advice, y'all! I appreciate it. The listerine spray is a fantastic idea - I'll have to get some!

Lucky duck! I wish I could have string cheese haha. I'm a week out and still on liquids too

I was in kind of the same boat. I started considering WLS in May, and because I'm in school I knew that if I wanted to do it then it had to be this summer, so everything happened really fast. On my Monday, I went in for my surgery and everything still felt completely unreal and I never even had an "okay I'm really doing this moment." Next thing I knew, I woke up with an ice pack on my tummy and it was over! Now it's done, and I just start moving forward. For me, I knew that it was always going to be a tough decision and that I was never going to feel completely ready no matter how long I deliberated. It's a big decision. But I did know that if I called it off, I would wake up the next day regretting it.

I don't think I'm "desperate" yet, but I just used to chew a lot of gum to freshen my breath after meals so I'm wanting it after every shake. If I'm going to try it and see what happens, how long do y'all think I should wait?

Mouthwash!! I was thankful to have a sports bra too (for the next day).

I had some pretty spicy homemade tortilla soup broth yesterday (post op day 4) and I was completely okay! I don't know if the liquid vs real food thing makes a difference though

Coffee? Monthly? A woman's Question
avRose replied to kaysunshine's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes they will still do surgery! You should ask your nurse what they want you to wear though. Mine said absolutely don't wear a tampon because the surgery/recovery is so long and you'll be groggy after so you may forget that it's in there and that would cause problems. -
How am I ever going to get thru this liquid diet ?
avRose replied to shellyd67's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I didn't have to do a pre-op liquid diet, but I'm post-op day 5 on liquids and it's still hell even though I'm not hungry. What's helped me is just reminding myself that it's temporary! A year from now when we've reached goal weight and are able to enjoy a small but healthy and tasty meal, a couple of weeks with fluids will seem like such a small price to pay. We've got this! -
At 1 day post op I could barely drink anything because I would get really bad spasming/burping/heartburn. But now I'm on day 3 post op and am able to get almost all 64oz down. You have to push yourself and keep sipping - for me, the more I sipped (even though it hurt) the better I ultimately felt. Keep pushing yourself, but know that it gets better with time! Good luck!!

August 2015 Surgery Date!
avRose replied to KarenLoh's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm August 3rd - going to start my pre-op diet this Monday! Nervous but super excited!! -
Hi everyone! My surgery is August 3rd and I'm just now starting my pre-op diet. I'm super excited but I'm also really, really scared. I want to be really prepared for my hospital stay and the few weeks after while I'm healing from the surgery. Does anyone have any advice on what I should bring to the hospital and what I should stock up on at home? Or generally what I should expect? Thank you so much!

How to prepare for surgery day?
avRose replied to avRose's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wow everyone, thank you so much! I really appreciate the advice, especially bringing pants to the hospital because I would not have thought to do that! I really appreciate everyone's support. I had no idea that forums like this even existed, so it's incredibly comforting to know that there are people sharing this same experience. Thank you!!
