    what's your fat habit?

asking for a table rather than a booth....not quite there yet for all booths, but getting there....
  2. Just want to see How the August Group was doing post surgery. I had my original surgery Aug. 10, 2015, I had a hard time get Protein shakes down and felt very weak. I went to my general Dr. for my diabetes check up a week later. My blood test and blood oxygen level was very low. he sent me back to the hospital. I was in surgery within 2 hours. Apparently there was a leak. I ended up in the hospital till Sept. 14, 2015. They had to put a feeding tube(to keep my energy up) and do dialysis. I came home with the feeding tube (just in case I again could not get enough protein) and on oxygen. The feeding tube was taken out after 2 week but I and still on oxygen.Dr. is hoping by losing more weight I can get off the oxygen. I am able to eat anything now. Most of the time I am able to get my protein in. Every once in a while I do eat either too fast or don't chew small enough and feel miserable for 1-2 hours or dump. You kinda know as soon as you swallow when its gonna happen. It's been farther and farther apart because if feels so bad that you remember better and better every time you eat I just got approved for portable oxygen tank and the ok from my Dr. to start working again with my trainer. I am hoping by getting an exercise routine again I will start losing weight faster. Even through the bad experience with the leak I do not regret my decision and am looking forward to the rest of my journey. So hopefully we August surgery group can hear from each other.
  3. had my surgery Aug 10TH. because of other health issues (sleep apnea, diabetes, kidney issues-you name it, it seemed I have it) I was put in ICU immediately after surgery. They were concerned with anesthesia. they had a hard time taking me out of intibation..I think the main thing I was unaware of was the pain from the gas used to inflate your stomach for the surgery until you pass gas, it nestled between my shoulder and was very ,very painful. more than the actual surgery. today is the first day I can say that part doesn't hurt. Now I am really struggling to get the protein in by the end of the day. on the first day in the hospital, the very first sip of protein was fine then like 15 seconds later I "forgot" about sipping and downed what was left of the 1Oz. in the cup and got excruciating pain for the next 4 hours. phew have not made that mistake since. so any hints on getting that protein in will be greatly appreciated.
  4. I' m with ShareeB, I am sooo tired of the Protein shakes. I have never been one to drink my food nor liked smoothies or reg. shakes, so these Protein Shakes from the get go have been hard. Right now I can down protein in (on my 10th day-surgery scheduled for Aug. 10) a few gulps. My fear is after the surgery, getting all my protein in when I have to sip the protein shakes over time. does anyone have suggestions or helpful tips for post surgery?

    Scale drama...

congratulations! That is worth screaming about. I am scheduled for surgery Aug. 10. can't wait to get my weight loss "scream"
  6. Thanks. I did read in other posts some people have issues with sugar and dumping. I guess my other concern is will my body react the same way as eating sweets? basically just want a cup of coffee in the morning with sweet n low .
  7. Think of it as your New "Birth" day. You didn't eat much on your actual birthday and for sometime after that. there will always being something happening before WLS like holidays, vacations, retirements etc. so you have to be mentally ready. Remember, Thanksgiving (or any other holiday) is just another day compared to the start of your "New" healthier life. (I just started my liquid diet Monday and trying to stay positive-getting great support from family via encouraging phone calls)
  8. I use sweet n low or splenda now. Does anyone know if these artificial sweetners will cause problems after WLS? Is it the same as eating sugars which I heard can cause issues.
  9. I live in Santa Fe Springs. Having my surgery at PIH in whittier@@Pinkpeonies1
  10. I am in California and am scheduled for Aug 10, 2015, just back from pre-op with surgeon. got my pre-op nutrition plan.
