Knitchic got a reaction from toasty in GasX and Post-Op Gas
@@toasty I asked the same question to my surgeon yesterday and he said the same thing.
I also asked if walking really does help or just takes you mind off the pain. He said while it does take your mind off the pain it helps "move the gas around so it can work its way out".
I had already bought the GasX strips so I think I will take them with me just to be safe. If nothing else maybe it's a mental thing ????.

@@chasingchloee how was your first day on pre op? I am on day 4 now and when everyone says it does get better I think they're right. Days 2 and 3 were horrible. I think my body was screaming for sugar haha.
Keep us posted on your progress. I am so happy for you and your journey.

The liquid diet headache is officially gone today! I feel like I can see the finish line or would it be the starting line.

Tomorrow the driver picks me up at 645 to take me to the hospital. 8am is my surgery time.
Nerves have been flushing through me all day from the moment that I was given my concent forms to sign.
Then the hospital gave me he option to have my surgery from Friday moved to tomorrow .... I jumped at the chance.
My head is pounding, my tummy is growling and I am so nervous.
Tomorrow is the first day of the rest of my life.....
    Good Night !!!!!

Yes- I had a headache and felt light headed when I would stand up. Had another experience this morning - there were Dunkin donuts for a parent coffee this morning and I just sipped my tea.
One thing this pre op diet has showed me is how often I am exposed to high calorie food and drinks!! It's everywhere!!!

I asked my surgeon this question. I don't have any issues but I did ask him if I should start with a MV with Iron. He said that he will check my lab levels often and add iron if needed. Women tend to have more iron deficiency anemia than men due to our monthly menses. The B Vitamins are critically important after bypass

Each time I am here I learn more and have come to know that I am not the only one. Which was sometimes my thinking.

My kids wanted to go to an Italian pizza restaurant yesterday and they each got a giant calzone. I ordered a meatball sub and a side salad. I a little of the salad and two of the meatballs w no bread and everything else scraped off. I have to say that it was very good and I felt good about it.

Very good post! For those of us that "love" food we worry that we will be lost without it or that we are losing our best friend.

@@395Ron it went great! He gave me a run down of everything from the time I walk in the hospital the morning of surgery. He took the time to answer my list of questions (yes I really did take a list because I was afraid I would forget something haha). Now I am excited and ready for the 22nd to get here.

Congrats on the countdown! The pre op does get a little easier. The chocolate unjury Protein drinks are AMAZING! I hope I still lake them post op. Oh and chicken flavored Unjury is great mixed with broth. Just like chicken noodle Soup minus the noodles. I find that around 8 or 9 at night are hardest for me. The munchies kick in and UGH I want chips lol.

Hello wonderful community! Just a few successes from today I wanted to share.
This afternoon I took my daughter and her friends out for pizza. I ordered a plain salad (Ok'd by doc to do veggies only with lemon on such occasions...) and that's all I ate, even with the amazing looking pie right in front of me.
Tonight, after back to school night, I went out for drinks with some friends . They all had 2 beers each and I had 2 unsweetened ice teas.
This is my 6th day on the pre-op diet and I think I can do this! (8 more days to go....)
How are others doing with temptations??
