    Raw carrots are EVIL! Beware!

I made this mistake Spring Break while sitting on the beach. I ate almost an entire little packet of raw carrots. I honestly didn't know if I was going to make it up to my room to go to the bathroom. It was so painful. I haven't ate a carrot since. I'm scared lol. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Average Weight Loss?

Comparing yourself with others can be playing head games. I started out at about 215 (the surgery was the best method to fix my extreme and I do mean extreme reflux) at 5 months I was down to 170. I'm now just past 6 months and at 164. The doctor says I will lose about another 10-15 and then after a year gain about 5-10 back. I have been a slow loser and it would blow my mind to see how quickly some people lose. I try to tell my focus that everyone is on their own journey but that doesn't always help haha. Good luck. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  3. I wish I had never tested the sugar issue either. I can say I am about 7 months out and I can safely eat 1 pop tart or 1 cookie. Sugary drinks give me a horrible headache but as a rule the only thing I notice with sugar is a bit of gas. I will admit I still don't eat anything sweet out in public. I think the amount and type of sugar can play a big roll so I don't chance it when I am out and about. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Anyone Irritable?

Hangry is a huge issue for me. It's like I reach the point of no return. Sometimes I don't realize I'm hungry until it's too late. I try to keep a snack in my purse for times like this. As for the hormone dump it's a real thing. I feel like it has improved (I'm now 4 month out) or maybe I am just getting used to it.
  5. Staph infection contracted from hospital.... Equaled 2 bad weeks of pain and a month dealing with an open wound. Nothing my surgeon did wrong just issues at the local hospital. I'm now 4 months out and would do it all over again. Yes the infection sucked BUT the results are worth it all.

    Freezing ...

I'm almost 5 months out and still have "cold" days. I sleep with 3 blankets, long sleeve shirt and pajama pants and STILL turn on the electric blanket. Some days are worse then other but I have found if I let my self get really cold it's almost impossible to warm back up.

    Hair Loss

My hair loss started at 3 months and at 5 months it's still coming out like crazy. I hope it slows up soon. For now I opted for a shorted hair cut with a wavy style to hide it as much as possible.

    Low grade fever

Make sure you don't have any puffiness around any incisions. I had a similar experience and come to find out I had contracted a staph infection in the hospital. I don't want to scare you! Just keep an eye on the incision sites.

    Quest chips?

???? I tried them and was really wanting to like them but the after taste is horrible.
  10. I have lost about 45 pounds and I am only down one size as well. I expected to be able to wear smaller pants but they are so tight around my stomach. I have lost in my face, legs and butt. I'm sure the rest well come.
  11. I only told my husband, my sister and 2 close friends. I didn't want my parents to worry and I also didn't want their opinion. The reasons surrounding my surgery were something I had to work through on my own and I didn't need to here others opinions. Someone I know from the bariatric support group at my doctors office came into my work and announced to his friend that I had surgery and how great I looked. I was devastated. I gave him the look of death. I'm sure over time people will find out but until I am ready to deal with it I feel it's my story to tell. The surgery puts you on an emotional roller coaster. Don't give yourself added stress.

    Three weeks out

    Wow you are doing great!

    Yeah! 1 Month Post-Op

Sounds like you are doing great! I had surgery 10/22 and I am down 34 total including pre op diet weight loss. My doctor doesn't advance people from the broth/cream of wheat type stuff until 6 weeks. I am so ready for some veggies and meat.

    Adding protein to mashed potatoes?

I can't stomach isopure but this stuff isn't bad, and it's half the cost of isopure!
  15. I would read people's posts about how hard it was to get their fluids in and think to myself they were crazy. Well here I am 3 weeks out and got a talking to by you doctor for not drinking enough. Lol. I feel like I drink ALL the time. I have timers set in my phone, apps the send me alerts and I always have a drink with me, yet I am still behind every day.
