    No weight loss, weight gain

Thanks for the info about the nuts. I will stop now that I know you have had success when you gave up the cashews. Really, Thanks a lot...I needed that! Joyce

    No weight loss, weight gain

I was banded in July 2005. I lost weight initially....from 213 to 175 but then started to gain again..(went to 182)..had fills and unfills and I think I know I am at the right tightness but I can seem to get below 182. I too, eat peanuts because they are satisfying and nutritious....but...I think that may be the problem..Your post gave me a wake up call...I believe that certain foods (like Peanuts) can be eaten in such quantity without affecting the band that I may be sabotaging my own efforts. Lets try to cut out the peanuts and see what happens. good luck! joyce
  3. I was banded in July 2005....so far I have lost 30 pounds but it has not been smooth sailing. Mostly, I find that I eat too much or too fast and then have to PB to get relief. I know that sometimes I do this on purpose so that I can enjoy more of what I am eating. The pb-ing seems just too easy to do. I know it is a bad habit to develop and I am determined to stop. But, here is my question to all, ...am I the only one who has gone this route? I feel awful about myself...I was never bulimic....and the thought of throwing up could make me throw up.....now that I have the band, I seem to not mind the PB syndrome. I know all the reasons why this is bad....how uncommon is this?

    Excessive PB-ing on purpose

Thank you all for your advice and support. Everything you all said to me has helped me (whether I liked it or not). I was uplifted by what "fabfatgrl" wrote and I am taking her point by point advice. I was also scared enough by what everyone said to realize that I have this great tool and I can do this right. I may need help, but I will do this. Thank you all....the support was great Joyce

Pain after eating..have you experienced this?

Try eating 4 meals a day instead of 3 so you are not so hungry that you eat too fast or too much. The "hard stops" caused by the pain are not good for our band (or our health). I suggest that you try to eat more often. Thats what I have been doing and it seems to work much better for me. Good luck and don't worry...you are not alone...lots of us have the same pain problem. Pain after eating..have you experienced this?

I have pain too when I eat too much or too fast or if I do not chew well enough. I was banded on July 26, 2005 by Dr. Kim in Florida. I was told that this pain is known as a "hard stop" and I should not rely on this to know when I am full. My doctor told me that I need to measure my quantity of food at each meal and not eat more than 5 ounces total food (3oz. Protein, 2oz. veggie) four meals a day plus a few Snacks. Its really your pouch/esophagus having a spasm where the food hurts and seems to move up and down a little for a few minutes and then it passes. I think it will continue to happen from time to time when I may forget to eat slowly like a bandster but I am careful now because it is very painful and may make my band slip or rupture. If you continue to get these pains after you have measured food and chewed well, please see your doctor. Good luck. Joyce
