tummy feels like I'm riding a rollercoaster
trekker954 replied to newmein2017's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The few times I went out in a car that first week, I was a dizzy and a nauseous. Actually the nauseous feeling stayed with me a good month, so I avoided long drives. -

Post menopausal women only please!
trekker954 replied to 50yearoldme's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Sleeved and gallbladder removed Aug. 10th. No, my periods never resumed (thank God), but I haven't had a period in 10 years or so. Honestly, I've had no weird side effects other than very itchy arms that started at 1 month PO and continues to this day. My incisions are already so faded (i had seven small incisions). hair loss has started at 4 months. I have thick hair, but every shampoo (twice a week) I lose quite a bit; but was expecting that. -
You might be a WLS patient when...

GREAT VOICE. You are adorable and should sing professionally. Very cute video and while I see the humor, we need the opposite motivation. It put me in the holiday spirit. Thanks for posting Sent from my SM-N910T using the BariatricPal App -
Oh to deal with postponement
trekker954 replied to Teajayteejay's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think they owe you a more difinitive explanation why and why they can't reschedule with a date so you can have the motivation to stay on course. What if your surgeon left the practice etc, you may need to be regroup and start looking for a new surgeon. Sent from my SM-N910T using the BariatricPal App -
You will be out when they insert it and so groggy that first day you won't even feel it. Mentally I wasn't thrilled when they were going to remove it but it takes a couple of seconds and it's done and out. Relax and be brave. Sent from my SM-N910T using the BariatricPal App

But on mederma, ASAP Silver gel, Vitamin E lotion, or any lotion MAY help. The incision itchiness will subside. Wait until you lose a lot of weight and your arms start itching non stop. All the lotion in the world won't help. My NUT acted surprised by this side affect yet others here report the same symptoms. I've not gotten any answers but can only think maybe it has to do with extreme excess skin, muscle losing from skin. I'm 62, probably too old to help even with arm exercises. Weight loss 70+ lbs in 4 months. 8 lbs from goal. Sent from my SM-N910T using the BariatricPal App

Puréed Foods Making me CRAZY!
trekker954 replied to nbflat2's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Did u try the ricotta bake? So yummy. I did baby bell cheese. Hummus. I didn't really stick with pureed. I just chew everything to liquid consistency. And it goes fast. I'm 4 1/2 months out and I can barely remember that phase. Hang in there. Sent from my SM-N910T using the BariatricPal App -
Easiest psych clearance!
trekker954 replied to erica2185's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I was charged $175 and didn't get my money's worth. lol Most of the time I felt like I was the shrink and he was on the couch. He talked about his upcoming knee surgery (the topic was surgery) for 20 minutes and the rehab he'll do for it. lol I didn't really care, he did send the report to my surgeon immediately although they misplaced it and we had to hunt him down during his recuperation to tell the nurse where copies of my report were. -
I think the hardest one for me was to show I failed at weight loss in the year leading up to my meeting with the surgeon as they wanted consecutive weigh in with my pcp who had me on phentermine. I was traveling a lot a skipped a month weigh in over six months. I provided my airline ticket, etc. When all was said and done it took bcbs fep 2 days to approve me. Insurance change and 6 month post-op NOT covered!
trekker954 replied to JohnGraySmiley's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My bcbs covered my surgery fees, except some out of pocket. But my fee included the surgery, hospital, post op apps at 2 weeks, 2 and 6 month and 1 year. Plus 12 nutritionist appts within a year. When I go in for these follow ups, I'm not charged, nor do I get anything from bcbs. I am staying with bcbs but changing from my husbands coverage to my own. I'm 4.5 months out. I'm not expecting this to be an issue since the surgeons bill has bent paid already and all appts should be covered for a year. Sent from my SM-N910T using the BariatricPal App -
How often do you weigh yourself?
trekker954 replied to nlmguerrero's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm like nymea. At first I'd stuck to once a week. But the past month I'm melting away, so I'm weighting myself daily in awe. I'm also trying new foods and adding a tiny bit of vegetables so I want to see how my weight will react to the carbs as small as it is. Sent from my SM-N910T using the BariatricPal App -
Do you tell others? Do you feel embarrassed or ashamed?
trekker954 replied to JuniperBug's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
If asked, and I was the talk of the town at our holiday party Wednesday, I just say I've given up alcohol, carbs, sugar and do not go over 1000 calories. I also leave out the part about surgery. Sent from my SM-N910T using the BariatricPal App -

Gastric Sleeve surgery - the reality
trekker954 replied to Evie82's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I think more people post who may have issues (vomitting), those of us who do not have any side effects do not post as much. I've never vomited, no complications, pretty easy peasy and I'm 62. I'm just melting away. Like theantichick said, if I eat too fast or try for that one more bite, I may get a tad nauseus; but if you listen to your body, you really will know when to stop eating. We need to have that limit, that is how we lose the weight. I love being restricted. As it was mentioned, this is a tool. You still need to remind yourself that your EYES are bigger than your belly. Even now 17 weeks out, I may put more on my plate thinking its a small amount yet I only eat half. It doesn't affect me at all. If I'm eating out, I just take leftovers home, and I may sit there while the rest of my family/friends finish up. -
Traveling 1 week after Sleeve?
trekker954 replied to Ms. Misty's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I would wish your husband and kids a good time without you. You'll be fine alone after a week. I only needed help getting pulled up off the couch the first five days or so. But I didn't take any pain med once I left the hospital. It will be great for your recovery not to have to deal with a husband and kids. Just sit and veg out in front of the TV, have your liquids, shakes, Vitamins all there within reach. You can sleep when you want, not feel guilty about not feeding your family. Just take care of yourself. I think its a great opportunity and bet you will be healed faster along than you would should you make such a trip and have to look after the kids.. -
I'm a little over 4 months. Its amazing how far I've come as far as chuging down Water, but the truth is, if/when I chug, I'll end up with a belly ache and pressure in my esophagus. Gotta get that water in, but damn if you do and damn if you don't. I still find ice tea and/or coffee easy to drink.

Discontinued My PPI.........
trekker954 replied to chuswysly's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I was told to stop cold turkey after 3 months. But from reading others issues, rather than cold turkey, the first week, I took one every other day, the second week every third day, then completely stopped. I haven't had any issues. My gallbladder was removed with my sleeve if that matters. -
Alcohol first time post-op
trekker954 replied to CraftyGirl25's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm quite the wine aficionado, drink smooth fine reds, and my first sip reaction, probably at 2 months was this is disgusting plus I could feel a burn all the way down. Now at 4 months it may take me a good hour to sip 3 ounces. I only do this occassionally. It's just not the same. Sent from my SM-N910T using the BariatricPal App -
Two Week Countdown - Husband Freaking Out
trekker954 replied to SeattleSleever's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Trust me, you'll stick to the plan through Christmas and new year and probably valentine's day also. I was the perfect patient even with daily temptations as I didn't want to damage my new stomach or get sick, plus carbs and sweets didn't interest me. Now at four months, I can see the challengers getting more difficult and it does take some will power to say no. Sent from my SM-N910T using the BariatricPal App -
You should avoid fatty foods, which is the same for WLS Once gallbladder is removed you do not have that organ to break down the fat. I had mine removed same time as sleeved. My nut told me I did not have to worry about a gallbladder diet per se, just stay on my sleeve diet plan. Sent from my SM-N910T using the BariatricPal App
