Freaking out/ feeling defeated (4 weeks out)
Lacfish13 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Okay so I might be overreacting but that's what this lovely group if for right? Tell me if something is wrong or if I am just being to hard on myself. So I am starting my 5th week out today, my weight day of surgery was 297 and my current weight is 272.5. I started soft solid foods last week and have been following the doctors orders to a T (chew, chew, chew, take my time, small portions, drinking Water all day long, ect.), I do cardio for at least an hour and a half a day. last week when I started solid foods I weighed myself the first morning knowing the dreaded stall was coming and put the scale away weighing 270. then this morning I got it out to see where I was at and I have gained almost 3 pounds!? I know stalls are normal but I did not think i was supposed to be gaining weight at this point in the game yet. I am kind of taking it really hard on myself and feeling defeated like this isn't going to work for me, does anyone have any advise on what I might be doing wrong or what I can do to change it? Thank you in advance! -

October 12th surgery
Lacfish13 replied to Astrosgirl's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am so excited it is so close! I am turning 21 on Thursday and I honestly forget most of the time because I am just so ready for surgery lol How is everyone holding up on their diets? -
Okay so this is something I have been thinking about a LOT lately. I have been looking forward to my 21st birthday for a while now since most of my friends are older than me and have been dying for me to go out with them. Needless to say, I was so ready to be 21, until I got my surgery date.. My birthday is October 8th and my surgery date is the 12th. NO drinking for me, and now I feel like I can't even go out because I know all my friends are going to push me to drink, I mean you only turn 21 once! It just bums me out that I don't get to Celebrate this milestone birthday. I know in the long run it will be all worth it to be healthy and happier with life but for the moment I'm pretty bummed. Any suggestions on ways to celebrate and make it memorable while not being able to drink and being on pre-op diet?

Anyone out there have an October 12th surgery date? Or close to it at least? Who is your doctor, where are you located, are you going to Mexico? I can't believe how close it actually is! I just started my 3 week liquid diet today and so far so good

October 12th surgery
Lacfish13 replied to Astrosgirl's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Mine is the 12th as well and I have been on a full liquid diet since September 21st. I am drinking Premier Protein shakes, they are really good! 30 grams of protein and 1 gram of sugar and if you don't drink want for 30 to 45 minutes after it keeps me full for a while! They also have snack bars that my NUT told me I could have if i was really hungry but I have only eaten two since I started and I have way more energy than I used too:) -

How long was ur process?
Lacfish13 replied to nomorequitting's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My first consult was July 15th 2015 and my surgery date is October 12th 2015. My insurance does require a six month diet but my BMI was over 50 so the waived it. -

Turn around time for BCBS of Michigan, or in general?
Lacfish13 posted a topic in Insurance & Financing
Okay so I have met my insurance requirements, (waived 6 months of supervised diet because of BMI over 50, and a cleared psych evaluation). I just heard from my caseworker today that she submitted the claim to the insurance company but that they can have up to a 30 day turn around period. My question is, how long was your turn around time? I know we all hope for a one or two day turn around lol but what should I expect realistically? -
BCBS requirements and approval time
Lacfish13 replied to Astrosgirl's topic in Insurance & Financing
I have BCBS of Michigan but I live in Texas, and they told me that BCBS doesn't do pre-approvals, you just have to follow the guidelines they give and if you do they will cover you. I had my initial visit July 15th and got my requirements letter within two weeks. Since my BMI is over 50 the six month doctor supervised diet was waived now all I have to do is a Psych Eval on Tuesday and they will set a date! I felt the same way you did when I started but the ball will start rolling pretty quick I promise, good luck! -

So I have been reading on here a lot lately and read that with my insurance, if you have a BMI of 50 or more that they would waive the 6 month doctor supervised visits. My current BMI is 49.3! Not that I want to weigh anymore than I already do but is there a chance they will go ahead and waive it, or do the insurance companies stick to exactly 50 or more? I have Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan by the way. Thank you!
