I have lost 110 pounds and maintained it. I am 5 years out from surgery now. Full weight loss was about 1 1/2 years.

I have never considered removing my band. I know it is the tool that keeps me at a normal weight.
I (like most obese people) tried every good diet out there. Successfully, I might add! But I was never able to maintain a weightloss until now.
The band keeps me healthy, happy and having a good life!

Hi, I'm Vicki. I just joined lapbandtalk today. My surgeon is Dr. Myur Srikanth - he is awesome!
I am banded - in fact, I am just a couple of weeks away from my 5 year bandiversary.
My beginning weight was 240, my current weight is 130. I had full weight loss in about a year and a half. Although, I had one slight glitch and had no restriction for awhile so put a few pounds back on. (I had gotten too small so this is not all bad.) I have been at my current weight for about 2 1/2 years now.
Nice to meet you all.
How do you feel about non surgical weightloss success stories?

I am happy for anyone who loses weight using any healthy method. That said, I know the real life statistics. Most morbidly obese people will not lose significant weight on their own, and those who do are likely to gain it back.
I know this from the statistics and from personal experience. I successfully "dieted down" on Weight Watchers twice and Jenny Craig once. But never, until the band, was I able to get within the normal weight range for a woman my height. Also, until the band I was never able to maintain a weight loss for more than about 6 months.
