  3. I should have taken measurements before I started this whole process...the scale (my worst nemesis) does not want to move but apparently i already look smaller. so i would encourage the measurements since sometimes all the work may no show on that nasty scale. Good luck to you!

    Diabetic concerns

my pre-surgery diet started at beginning of September with cutting out all carbs...I had a monitored daily and within a week decided to stop all meds (this is just me personnally i am NOT advocating you do it). When i had my pre-op last week my a1c had dropped to 6.8 already. Jiust monitor it will drop and adjust accordingly. Good luck!

    Starting my journey

I love the premier Protein shakes....the vanilla is the best for me...no real bad after taste. I also use Flintstones chewable Vitamins....then I don't burp up all day. Good luck to you!
  8. I gained 14lb after I quit smoking and already had to loss 15 additional by the surgery date in 10 days so I started my "2-week" pre diet one week early (after being on Atkins for 3 weeks prior to that) and last week had only lost 6 of the 29 I had to lose but this week weigh in i lost 13 lbs...keep it up!!! It will come off and don't stress...stress causes your body to produce a hormone called cortisol and that will stop weight loss so just be calm and keep eating and drinking what you need to...the weight will come off and you will be fine.
  9. So excited for you! Congratulations!
  10. My surgery is in 10 days and yesterday I went to Lane Bryant and bought some tops that were a couples sizes smaller to get prepared and got so overwhelmed I started crying in the middle of the store...not because I'm scared just because of the same thing you are feeling...so happy for you!
  11. I'm on my 2 week pre-surgery diet as well....2 shakes a day and 1 meal of 4 oz meat and 1 cup veggies...i have been getting hungry and think its only head hunger...drink water between meals...it helps the feeling of being hungry...good luck to you...you can do it!

WORK: Too Soon or not. . .

I am going to try to do two weeks off but it really is all individual. If I can't do it then I will take more time...you should do what your body is telling you to do and if that means taking another week than take another week.

    3 days till surgery...

Your so close!!!! Don't give up, you can do this and the benefits that are awaiting you are worth every little denial you have to go through now. YOU CAN DO THIS! Congrats on being so close to the loser bench.
  18. Although I have not had my surgery yet...I did ask my NUT and surgeon and both told me that the bottom of the natural stomach is where the hunger hormones are created and when the new pouch is made there is no longer access to that part so hunger goes away. I am hoping permanently but will have to wait and see.

    October surgeries?

I am scheduled for October 22. I have to lose 15 lbs which turned into 25 after my last cortisone shot for my knee. My biggest hurdle was quitting smoking which actually was way easier than I thought it was going to be however it has hindered my weight lose a bit. I am planning on doing the phase one of atkins starting one month before my 2 week pre-op diet starts so that I can be assured the weight is off...don't want my surgery delayed for ANY reason. Look forward to getting it done

I wanted to say how great it is that there is a place for me to come to talk freely about my issues/concerns/triumphs. Looking forward to getting to know you all better Have a great day!
