    How about some NSVs!?!?

This weekend I went for a ride with my husband on his motorcycle and fit comfortably. I'm down about 90 lbs since I started my diet last fall. Last summer I didn't even try to ride as I was too big!

    Sleeping

Intersting. I had internal sutures and steristrips externally that fell off. My drain was only supposed to be in until my 1st week postop visit but it ended up being in for 19 days. I was very uncomfortable and unhappy. It all worked out though. Basically your body will let you know if you're laying in a position that is not good.

    Sleeping

I had to wait until my drain was removed before I could sleep on my sides or belly

    Cream of Wheat

I love my cream of wheat meals. I made it with skim milk and then when it's done I add a little pumpkin pie spice and a packet of splenda or stevia....great treat for when I'm craving something sweet.

    How long out of work?

Hi there, I was off for 4 weeks but could have used another week or two. I had my drain in for an extra week and was really sore after the removal. I would suggest the 4 weeks at least. I was still pretty tired.

    Exercise

You're on the right track! I started back with zumba and zumba toning at 4 weeks when I was released. Absolutely love it! I even started spinning to burn more calories and hopefully tone my legs some more. I walk or ride bike outside the other days. My son just turned 14 so it's a little easier for me but stick with it! Your kids will love having an active and fit mama to keep up w them!!
  7. How funny you post this today. I just said to my husband at dinner eating is really no longer enjoyable. It's like Forrest Gump said, you never know what you're gonna get. The end result is a mystery. Some days I can eat fine and the same thing another day has absolutely no appeal.
  8. My doc has me on actigall for 6 months postoperative to ensure I don't have problems. I'm 3 months out and so far so good
  9. Most of my pain was the side where my drain was. I couldn't lay on my sides until it was removed and had a few days to heal.

    Birth Control

Ive had my Mirena IUD for a few years now and didn't have to have it removed prior to surgery. I'm happy with it but have noticed a lot of break thru bleeding with it since my surgery. Guess estrogen is released as fat burns and screws things up.

    Chinese

I have not attempted Chinese food yet. I was however at my PCPs office and they brought it up to me. She suggested when ordered to order the dish but have it made with no oil. That way the oil does not upset your stomach (I'm only 3 months out). She said that some may order without the sauce due to the sodium and sugar content. Knock on wood, I haven't had any dumping symptoms as of yet but the oil would definately send me through the roof. Thought it was a good tip to try for those times that you're in a bind!

    Fluids

It took me over a month to be able to drink the 64 Oz daily. Just keep sipping!
  13. Hi there! I'm about 12 weeks post op and have been exercising like crazy. One area that I'm concered about are my upper arms. I've been using weights and doing exercises to tone my triceps. I'm curious if those of you who are further post-op have been successful in your arms shrinking and being toned. If so, what were some exercises you do did to help have a toner looking arm? Thanks!!

    How about some NSVs!?!?

I went on vacation last week and was able to ride a rollercoaster with my son and I fit!!! No more embarassing trips out of the ride because I couldn't fit or get the belt buckled!!!
  15. My surgeon suggested using ankle weights when I walk and bike. Don't think that when I go to spin class I will use them but rather on my bike outside. Handheld weights while you walk would probably be helpful as well!
  16. This is the same reply I just posted in a similar post... Hi there! I had my surgery 5/1/15. I lost 30 lbs prior to surgery and the first month I lost 37 lbs. I was elated!! I then hit a plateau once I was allowed to start exercising again after my 1 month follow up. I had to keep telling myself that I am losing inches and not pounds and I definately saw the change in my clothes. I went on Monday, 7/27/15 for my 3 month check up and dropped 13 lbs since 6/1/15. Sure I would have loved to have seen more but I am down 1-2 sizes since then. Try to remember that it's not always the # on the scale. You will be building muscle as well and that adds more weight.

    Not losing enough

Hi there! I had my surgery 5/1/15. I lost 30 lbs prior to surgery and the first month I lost 37 lbs. I was elated!! Great job so far!

    Small Plateau Blues

Yes jewels 11 I was. I lost 37 lbs in the first month. Once I was released to do real exercise the scale stopped. I was at 1 month also. After a few weeks I reached out to my doctors office and they said it's likely I'm building muscle and to watch my inches. I have definitely lost inches but the scale has not been gracious. I actually go today for a follow up. My surgery date was may 1st. I'm hoping to see the lbs drop on their scale given the exercise I've been doing. I go to zumba, zumba toning, spin classes and walk on the off days. It's soooooo frustrating but the clothes are fitting differently.

    Small Plateau Blues

I'm in the same boat and asking the same questions!
  20. I was in the same boat as you. I just kept experimenting with different liquids. I always had a glass of something with me or on table beside me. At that stage water was the easiest thing for me. It will get better. Stick with it. You made the decision to head down this road after months of preparation, keep your head up and know you're not alone

    Salad?

My surgeon wants me to wait until 3 months out until I incorporate lettuce again. I've found that each surgeon seems to have different stipulations

    JP Drainage

I had a lot of drainage and my drain stayed in an additional week. Even after that I had a little seepage until the hole closed.
  23. I'm a fan of Splenda and Truvia. Stevia has a slightly different flavor than Splenda but still tasty!
  24. It's funny how similar most rules physicians have are and some are so different. Another post had a lady a few weeks post surgery talking about eating whole wheat toast and I'm not allowed bread, rice, noodles etc until 9 months out.
  25. Your body will tell you when it's too much. There are days that u can drink quite a bit at one time and others where a few sips are too much
