I'm August 17th and my surgeon requires a 3 week full liquid diet as well. Today is my first on it and I'm just praying to get through this. 3 weeks until surgery, seems so far away but I think it will be here before I know it.

Pre-op diet started today...one step closer!!! Won't be long now.

I was much like you before (ohhhh...going to Mexico for surgery...so taboo) but I finally did a lot of research, spoke to people who had been, and felt more comfortable with going ahead and scheduling a Mexico surgery. I know it is scary to think about at first but is that absolutely not an option for you?

I am having surgery on 8/17 and going back to work one week later on 8/24. My coordinator said I should be fine as I have a desk job for the most part with no strenuous activity. I sure hope so...

I am also intrigued...didn't know anyone that liked it and would recommend it. So sizes are pretty accurate?

I can't wait either! I used to be such an athletic, outdoorsy person...can't wait to hit the softball field again

I am so glad to have found this topic...not glad for what you are going through, but because I am going through it too and needed someone to talk to about it. Granted, my husband has gotten better about it now that the date is getting closer. I can still sense his uneasiness with this. In my situation, my husband is very insecure to the point it becomes suffocating at times. We've only been married a little over a year, but since I have been with him I have put on 80 pounds...80 pounds that I worked super hard to get off a couple years before we met. He's one of those guys that can eat and eat and doesn't really have much to worry about as far as gaining too much weight. I love him so I do what I can to ease his mind, I try to remind him that he wants kids with me and wouldn't he be more comfortable with a healthier pregnancy and so on and so forth. But he did ask me once to promise I would not leave him when I got thinner. That hurt me a lot when he said this. To me it felt like I am only with him because I was fat when we got together and settled with whatever man was okay with that. Maybe I blew it out of proportion but that was a pretty tough couple months where he was not on board. He too pulled the "you do what you gotta do, but I don't wanna hear about it..." It's frustrating to say the least.

Yes it is! In fact my pre-op diet starts in 4 days...yikes!!!

Me too! Pretty sad when the scariest part of surgery is having the willpower to get through the 21 day liquid diet beforehand because of just that very reason lol

My doctor requires a 21 day pre-op diet for anyone over 300. That is honestly the part of having surgery that makes me the most nervous right now, though I have been told that once you are a few days into the pre-op diet it gets easier.

I have a GNC and a Vitamin Shoppe near me. Where's the best place to buy from? I will order online if I have to but I have been so busy at work that my pre-op diet has crept up on me and is now in 5 days.

I start my liquid diet in 5 days, so obviously can't speak from first hand knowledge, but from speaking with a few friends of mine who have had WLS, one cheat is not the end of the world The object is to get your liver down to a safe size, so just try not to let it become a regular thing You can do it!

Honestly this is the part I am dreading the most. I start my liquid diet in 10 days. To me that's scarier than the surgery itself (how sad is that?) Keep updating on how it goes. Someone told me after the first week it gets easier, but I am just worried that it won't.

I'm going through the same issue right now. I told my husband there are a couple restaurants I absolutely wanted to go to before I start my pre-op diet and I don't feel the need to be super stressed about my diet in this last 10 days leading up to the pre-op diet, but I'm also not trying to go crazy at the same time. That being said, we are going to my favorite restaurant this weekend and then I think next week I'm going to be a bit more nutritious and diet-conscious leading up to the 27th when my liquid diet begins. Getting sleeved August 17th in Piedra Niegras, Mexico. My deposit for the date went in Monday, was received and booked Tuesday, got all my paperwork and VSG manual, and yesterday my passport card finally came back in the mail. Super, super, super official now!

Hi, I'm from right on the outskirts of Houston. My surgery is next month with Dr. Alvarez in Piedras Negras, right across the border from Eagle Pass. He's not the cheapest there is, but he is definitely the doctor in Mexico I have felt most comfortable with through all my research so I'm shelling out a little more. He also has a fantastic patient coordinator. Obviously I can't comment to how the process goes just yet from a first hand experience, but will be glad to share next month

Glad to find some Dr. Alvarez alums on here. I am seeing him for my sleeve in about a month and like seeing that he's as good as I hoped he would be.
