Wow! De-banded twice! That is really traumatic. How are you doing? How is your weightloss? I gained some right away (mostly fluids since I was soo dehydrated) but have maintained my current weight for about a month or so now. How are you finding being post band? Any advice?? Well, my heart goes out to you. I am so sorry to hear about your band issues.

I heard you can feel the impression from the band sometimes after they take it off. I didn't at all. My stomach was back to normal right away almost. Now I really have to watch what I am eating and have upped my exercise. Like I said I started putting weight on right away. My Dr kind of wants me to gain weight so if I want another procedure it would be covered. I am too close to goal right now that it would never be covered. Anyways please keep me posted on how you are both doing. If you want to chat or email privately just send me a message and I would be happy too. Take care

Hi there! I am in the same boat as you. My band also flipped and was removed in emergency surgery when I went into shock about a month and a half ago. It was so scary and I felt so bad. I could not swallow anything, not even my own saliva. Crazy! I did put on some weight though, about 10 pounds right after surgery. I think that this was mostly Water since I was so dehydrated. So far I am maintaining the weight I am at now. I do miss my band and might get rebanded. Are you planning on getting rebanded? I just do not know if I could go through all the complications again if it happened. It took alot out of my family and friends. How are you feeling now? Is there anything I can help you with. At least we were de banded around the same time! Keep in touch!

Hi Everyone!! Ok, so I have been dating a lot lately and have a question for you all. I have met someone I really like and am shy of my lap band scars on my stomach. He does not know I had the surgery and I am not sure if I want to share that with him yet. What do you do? Has anyone else has this issue? What do you say when he sees your scars? Any guidance would be so helpful. Tanya

Thank you guys for the advice. It is so helpful. I love the candle light idea as well. It is romantic and forgiving. Your comments have made me feel so much better. ~Hugs~

You guys are all so awesome!! Thanks for the great advice. It is nice to know that I am not alone in this awkward feeling. I mean, I like him, and am dating, but not so serious that I want him to know really personal things about my life. Thanks so much for the comments back. Tanya

Feeling No restriciton and FUSTRATED!
foxygrlts replied to zippyz's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am so glad that I am also not alone in feeling this way. I was banded on Dec 28th and feel just like aprilbene...Like they cut me and stitched me back up. I know I could eat a lot more if I do not watch myself. I have even caught myself eating too much and since I do not even feel restricted I keep thinking something is wrong with my band. Its good to know that this is normal and restriction is on its way. Hope you all the best. Hugs -
Hi Everyone... Can you believe we are in the New Year already. Crazy hey! Well, I just wanted to know what kind of Protein supplementation people were using to get in the required daily intake. How much did it cost? Do you like it? What do you mix it in? Where did you get it from ext? :hungry: I have be using Isopure but I do not like the aftertaste. Any help!!! Thanks

Isopure and upset stomach... related?

Hi There, You could also make your own Protein shakes. For example if you use the Carnatation Instant Breakfast (5 grams of protein in it) and add additional Protein powder (18-25 grams per spoonful)to it and blend it with some milk or soy milk it is so good. (Almost 30 grams!!) Hope this helps. Hugs!! -
Hi Everyone!! The reason why they want you to avoid caffeine is due to its dehydrating potenial. During the first month of so post op you are already at high risk of dehydration. For example, for every 8 oz glass of a caffeinated beverage you would have to compensate with 16 oz to adequatley rehydrate your body. If the body is already dehydrated you could put your body at risk. Also, to be the most metabolically active you need to be hydrated. There is no quicker way to stop loosing weight then to become dehydrated. Soooo, that is the risk. Hope this helps. Hugs!!

Hi Jess and Welcome. My name is Tanya and I am 27 as well. I was just banded on the 27th of December. I totally know how you are feeling. It seems like it is so far away and that you might not ever make it. Trust me, there is light at the end of the tunnel. This is a tool that will allow you to stop all those diets that never worked. I think over time we have programmed ourselves for failure. We no longer believe we can do it. But you can. Congradulations on making a decision that will drastically change your course in life. You are on your way to a new woman. I was really, really nervous about having the surgery done but am so happy now. I already lost 15 pounds. Hang in there girl...you will be just fine. Please keep me posted on how you are doing. Here is a big hug for you.. HUGS -

What Do I Bring?
foxygrlts replied to Songinmysoul1's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey There!! Happy New Years... Are you talking about what you should bring to the hospital? Of course I brought a toothbrush and toothpaste and all that kind of stuff but the things I enjoyed the most were my facial wipes cloths (so refreshing), hand cream and soft booty socks. I also brought a housecoat and that was nice for walking around in. Finally, I also brought one of those body spray things, that made me feel good too so that I did not smell like "surgery". Well hope this helps...good luck and congradulations. Hugs -
Hey... Yeah, you have to be really careful with NSAIDS. I am a pharamcist and I know that if you are banded you can never take those again. The reason is because they affect the lining of your GI and everything will stay in the small pouch for a longer time than normal. If the lining erodes you are in big trouble. It could cause gastric bleeding and a whole mess of problems. Do not take any of the NSAIDS after being banded. It is one of the things we have to give up for life. Hope that helps. Happy Banding...

Hey there... Do not worry about what anyone else thinks, even if it is your husband. Remember this is something you do for yourself and your health. Not everyone will understand and even the closest people to you will cross you during your path. It is not because they mean harm to you, but that they just do not understand. Be proud that you have made the desicion to change your life for the better. Congradulations and please keep us updated on your progress. **Hugs**

Hi... I was banded on the 27th and I understand what you are talking about. Today was the first time I felt a little bit hungry as well. I am not really sure if I am hungry or missing food. What I did was have a couple tablespoonsful of broth and that seemed to cut it. I have been able to keep liquids down just fine as well and I am healing really good so that might have something to do with it. I am glad that we were banded so close together. Let me know how things are going and I will keep you up to date as well. Take care and congradulations on your new life **Hugs**
