Ok, where to start ?  I guess I will start with one of the toughest days in my life.  I went to my obgyn to get a consult on a possible hysterectomy.  My hormones had been out of whack for quite some time.  I had already had an uterine ablasion, but I continued to have problems.  He suggested I try to lose weight and alot of it before we proceed with the surgery.  I must not have looked like I understood, because he said again "Leslie, I think you should consider weight loss surgery"  I looked up, and instantly started bawling !  All I could think is that I am not that fat ?!  I am not as fat as those people that have had this done....or am I ?  Wow, what a wake up call !  I contiued to cry for the next two days and then decided to get a hold of it, forever !  I called around and found out that there is a surgeon in Bismarck, ND.  That is almost 5 hours from my home, but it was the closest I was going to get.  I made the appointments and went right away with in a week.  Wow, again !!  What a day...I had 5 appointments with 5 different people.  They were all awesome and extremely helpful, and kind.  I think they my think I am nuts at this point, but that is ok, I am soon to be skinny.  I had my surgery December 26th, 2007 at 6 am.  I am latex intolerant, so I always get to be first !!  I was out of surgery and in my motel before noon !!  I couldnt believe how fast it was, and that I really didnt have that much pain....I went home and followed the liquid diet to the mark.  Clear for a week, full-liquid for a week, mushies for a week, and then on to puree' for a week....ya, well anyway, I went from clear liquids, to diet shakes, and on to coco wheats for the rest of the time.  Lived on them and not that much of them.  I went in to see my surgeon six weeks out of surgery and they tried to give me a fill.  My first fill, I was a bit nervous, but it didnt seem that bad, at first.   After digging around my port for over 45 minutes we decided to go under floroscope to see what was going on.  You wont believe it, but my port had flipped completely over !!  Yep, no fill for me, in fact we instead scheduled me for a re-surgery.  Oh my god NO !!!!!  I was not happy, but I realized that if I could not have the fills, this surgery was basically useless.  So...January 17th I went back in, had another day of surgery, stayed at the motel over night and started over.  I had lost around 40 lbs, so I was happy with that.  Went back in one month for my second, first fill.  They were very happy with the outcome and I had a fill.  I did not think it was any change until a couple days later.  It was a change alright, a big one, I was down to around 1/2 cup serving in an entire meal ?!  Holy Cats !!  Is it possible to live on that ?I went back four more months in a row and had fills done because I was having a hard time with evenings.  I was starving at night and was grazing alot.  I am now at a 7.  I lost 132 lbs and made my surgeons goal of 140 lbs in 18 months !  I am still losing and I have decided to go in and see him this month to maybe have some fluid removed so I can stop losing and just maintain.  I have had mostly a good outcome with this surgery.   I would reccomend it to any one that feels they need it or that like me, has been told to get it.  It does come with hardship, but it is a great weightloss tool !   The best part for me other than the weight loss is the fact that my hormones are perfect !! I am no longer on any meds and I still have my uterus.  My health is great !  YaY Me !!
