Gaining weight at year 3 post VSG, HELP????
dcannan replied to mlfontan's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I understand completely what you are going through with the pain. I'm in the same place with my back same issues and similar treatment. I'm so sick of pills. I did the sleeve to hope that the weight loss would help me take less meds. I pray they find a solution to help you live a more normal life. Living with chronic pain is not living. -

I'm new to it all. Two weeks out today. I'm down 22lbs in those two weeks which is great. I feel like a teen again where I could just shed it off if it crept up on me. At 55 it wasn't moving off so well. I thought long and hard about what I was really expecting from this journey. I view the sleeve as a tool. It's only good if you use it properly the rest of your life. It's not a magical tool that solves all my problems. It's during this first year I must educate myself on how to use this tool for life long results. I taught for 25 years I know that there is no easy fix. It still is going to boil down to eating clean and healthy and exercise. I also have to come up with another way to deal with stress factors. Finally I have to rediscover how my body tells me it's hungry or full. What do you expect on your journey?

There is more to this journey than just not being as hungry. There is a very mental side to re- understanding your body's signs for real hunger learning to chose healthy foods and breaking away from the things that got you here to start with. There are a few books that I've found or were suggested to my by my Bariatric psychologist. 1. Eat, Move,Sleep by Tom Rath 2. Lose Weight Easily by Loving Who You Are. Conquering the mental emotional side of losing weight. By S Wharton 3. The Body Book by Cameron Diaz

This journey we travel on has so many stops and starts. Long layovers and a few bad airplane meals( make mine purée please mama) but as we reach our destination we as much excitement as a 5year old going to Disney along the way we realize we are on a full flight and the passengers are all warm and friendly. The hope is that during the journey everyone loses more than weight and gains more than a slimmer body. I hope you all make peace with what ever was driving you to try and eat away the problem. My dr suggested I Read Eat Move Sleep by Tom Rath. A good quick read to begin reshaping your mind. Everyone keep up the good work and make this journey a successful one.

I didn't think you were supposed to have pasta and rice.

You have to get in at least 60 gr protein a day. I use Unjury. It taste great. Mixed with skim milk and you get your carbs for energy. This is per my dr and nutritionist orders. My weight loss is good 16 lbs in 11 days. Plus 32 oz of water that is hard.

2 weeks post op today
dcannan replied to onestaratatime's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I've used Unjury protein and love it. I get 20 gr with each shake and carbs needed from the milk for energy. 10 days out and I feel great. -
Feel like I'll pop if I put anything else in my mouth today.
dcannan replied to KarenKaye's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Yeah I could have protein shakes starting day 2 and 60 gr is the goal but not purée food for 2 weeks the potatoes need to go away -

My dr has my on liquids for 2 weeks and then purée stage next. My wonder is using so much fat this early on. I know olive oil is good for you but this early in the game where we are learning a healthier eating habit should you be introducing the oil yet? -
Did you lose 40lb in the 4 weeks since your surgery?

I agree with all the above especially the vitamins. If you don't have enough vitamins in you your body will stall also weighing once a week will lift your mood. Don't judge your body by a scale but by your clothes loosing up and your energy increasing. I hope you did this to be a healthy version of you so rejoice in all the little changes.
