ONEDERLAND! YES ME!
readyforthislifechange replied to downsizingdiva's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Awesome! I cannot wait to say that lol how long did it take you and did you have many stalls or frustrating moments? I have about the same starting weight and sometimes it seems so unreal that this is a possibility. I am 7 days post op and so ready haha -
Help im craving tomato soup
readyforthislifechange replied to skirby22's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That is too funny. For some reason that was my initial soup craving as well. I was on full liquids on day 3. And had no problems with the protein shakes and sugar free puddings so I figured I'd give it a try and it went well. Added a scoop of unflavored protein and mixed it togther and yummy. Lol -
Panera soups during full liquid stage?
readyforthislifechange posted a topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I know the broccoli cheese Soup from paneras is probably not the right thing to consume during the full liquid stage, but I was wondering if anyone else has and what their experience has been? I am drinking my Protein shakes and have tried a multitude of Soups and seem to just can't find any that I like. This is my favorite soup of all time and was wondering what some opinions might be on trying this? -

Did anyone feel pressure by surgeon to so bypass instead of sleeve
readyforthislifechange replied to Mayastone's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The first seminar I went to was similar. The doctor was biased and pushing towards the gastric band. The entire seminar was structured around it, or so it seemed. After my initial consultation he also said the band was the perfect option for me, I am 5'10 307lbs. I was motivated but also felt uncomfortable that I didn't feel that I had enough information to make an informed decision. After researching I went to a second surgeons seminar and was positively surprised. He was very objective and was very helpful and letting patients decide what they feel is best for them. In the seminar I asked him what would be the motivation for other surgeons to be biased towards certain procedures and he said "Maybe it's their preference on which they like to perform, and have had less difficulties with". The surgeon I chose does over 400 WLS a year for over 25 yrs and just simply is used to do them all. I guess what I'm trying to say is that maybe your surgeon is an expert at RNY and just not comfortable with performing the sleeve. But I do have to say I don't think it was professional of her to give you false or misleading information. If you look into the research even in Europe the more widely adapted practice is the sleeve not making it better or worse but it is a form of medical advance that they came across to avoid rerouting your digestive system. Just something to think about I guess. -
It seems EVERY day I have a new fear. Is this normal?
readyforthislifechange replied to Fatty McFatster's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes absolutely! I just had my sleeve done on Tuesday and the weeks before we're awful. I was soo scared that I would be in that low percentage of people with complications. I thought I would be out of it for weeks, scared of the head hunger and even dying on the operating table lol. But once I woke up and started drinking clear liquids I was extremely relieved and everything went away. And even though I am only 6 days out I can already tell this was the best decision I have made for myself. -
The Best Decision I've Ever Made

I am also 5 days out and experience the same symptoms. It's super tough, I feel like I want to hit the ground running and when I get up, clinch and hold my incisions in pain lol. I can't wait to feel amazing although I can already feel this is the best decision I have made for myself. I am however a little concerned about the amount of fluids I am able to drink. I am on the Protein shake and already have had 30 Oz today which equals 60g protein. Is that normal? I see most are consuming less than 500 calories a day the first couple weeks but for me I can easily reach 800. Weird or? -
surgery September 1,2015
readyforthislifechange replied to gihan's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sleeved 9/1 and will be discharged from the hospital tomorrow. The pain in the incisions is unbearable. I am kind of nervous to go home. The liquids so far is easy to keep down put that pain everytime I move is horrible. Does anyone else feel the same? -
So they think I might have a stricture
readyforthislifechange replied to Daisee68's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh my I am sorry to hear that and glad you are doing better. Do they know if there is a cause for strictures? And it sounds like this is something you won't really know you have until you're attempting to eat solids again or? -
Call the Bariatrics police!
readyforthislifechange replied to jackiemc1987's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
hey don't feel bad it is very hard to go cold turkey after years of enjoying something that was so comforting to us and that's why I put call the Bariatric police because some people are so fuckin judgemental like has anybody honestly been 100% perfect in their journey please tell me who have no shame in my game to hell with the rest of them ✌ I could not agree more. This journey is one all of us chose to do as adults. And I am really happy someone had the courage to be honest about some of the things they have had the desire to do and did. And to say "you will not get support when you need it" is crazy to me. We're human beings and should never look down on one another. I will be having my surgery Tuesday and posts like these let me see another side to it and make me understand how real this is and how we need to cope. Not everything is easy. If taking a bite and being happy and being able to maintain helped then that is a small victory. I read from others that after 2 yrs post op they still take a bite chew it up and then spit it out. At the end of the day we should be free of judgement on this site and if you don't agree then feel free to show that in a non attacking manner. Were all adults and thank you @@Cars for this post. -
