    Purging your clothing

6 months post op, I've had 2 purges. I got rid of everything that doesn't fit except 1 pair of pants to remind me how far I've come. I usually stay in draw string pants but every once in a while I want something that fits and I buy a new pair of pants.

    Shoulder Pain after rapid weightloss

@@#9grammy Yes an MRI is what I need but I have to play the insurance game. They won't cover the MRI until you have the X-ray first :/ Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Shoulder Pain after rapid weightloss

My right shoulder started hurting out of the blue. I never thought about the rapid weight loss being the reason. I have thought about lack of Protein being the reason. Or a Torn rotator cuff (although I've done nothing to it) I have a script for an X-ray to find out something. It's pretty painful Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Are you missing the crunch?

I'll have to try the Kay's but the Quest chips aren't my thing at all. I've tried every flavor. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

  6. I had surgery on Tuesday and went back to work the following Monday. I was exhausted. @@SwampBillies I have a desk job. I was able to take naps during the day because I worked for my dad at his house. I didn't make it through the day until week 3. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    So impatient

My process was 7 months. We had to take classes, one each month and see a lot of Drs. So the time went by fast since each month was filled with appointments. You got this.

    Oops, a straw!

I have used a straw since about 4 days post op. I'm 6 months PO now and still no issues Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  9. I can't have large amounts of sugar or fat.. For instance I had part of a milkshake and felt sick for hours and I had a small amount of cream of crab Soup and had stomach cramps and chills almost immediately. I stay far away from them now. It's trial and error. Some cannot tolerate dairy or milk at all and others have no issues. Keep a journal of foods you reintroduce that doesn't set well with your sleeve. Retry them later or steer clear all together

    Pain when having food

Stick to measuring everything and staying on a schedule. Here is a sample http://www.obesitycoverage.com/the-big-gastric-bypass-diet-guide/ For most true hunger doesn't return for a while. What you will have is head hunger and acid that mimics hunger. Even dehydration can cause hunger feelings.

    Only 1oz on purée?

This is when you really start to see the restriction. I was like you, for a lot longer than the 2 weeks I was on Purée. I still can't eat very much at one sitting. Certainly more than the 1 oz but maybe 1/2 cup at this time and even then it depends on what I'm eating. I'm 6 months out. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    My hair!

Sadly you can not prevent the hair loss. What you can do is help the regrowth by increasing your Protein . My NUT said to shoot for 90-100 grams. I am 6 months out and finally my loss has slowed. My hairdresser said Thursday that my hair is really healthy (thanks to the added protein) Take a deep breath and know that it is temporary and it will grow back. Soft Solid Foods Question

  16. It would make me sick and uncomfortable if I overate, so I wouldn't try. I stop at the "I'm satisfied" even if there is just one more bite. People eat around their sleeve all the time so it's definitely possible. I would be more concerned at why you want to than if it could happen. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Gerd issues?

I had Gerd pre-surgery & a hiatal hernia. My surgeon said that I may have to convert to the bypass later on because of the possibility of it returning. He still suggested the sleeve. The malabsorption issue and leaving my stomach inside was the reason why I went with the sleeve. I'm 6 months post op and still no issues and I am no longer taking antacid medicine. My pre-op Gerd was pretty severe. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  18. I agree.....those of us that had hernia repair think some of our discomfort is related.....but on the other hand we never had the sleeve surgery without the hernia repair so who knows?? Maybe the symptoms are the same no matter what.....I just know I had a lot of chest pain for the first several days......but the good news is either way, it does get better for sure!!! I'm 8 weeks today and feel completely normal. My hernia was pretty bad with a lot of pre-op Gerd, to the point I thought I was having heart attacks. In my paper work, classes and instruction notebook the post op instruction and what to expect were the same for everyone. There wasn't a separate information packet for those that were having a repair. Thankfully at 6 months post op I've had no acid attacks.

    BM TMI

This is a frequent issue of mine. It's basically true, liquid in liquid out. Also be prepared for the occasional bouts of constipation. Once you start the puréed stage things will change.
  20. Yes, it will get better. Sip small amounts slowly. I was to drink amounts with in 30 mins.. Starting out at 2,4,6,8 oz increasing a little each time. As swelling goes down the amount you can drink will increase. Keep sugar free ice pops on hand, they helped with getting in fluids during this stage. Also sonic ice was a godsend. I don't think the hernia repair has much to do with it.

    The gut

Probiotics was recommended for me. My nut team (yes team) said that lactose intolerance is common after surgery but It could get better over time. Reintroduce dairy a couple weeks or months down the road and see if you have the same reaction. Keep a journal of what you eat, especially if you have a bad reaction.
