  1. I definitely can not eat as much if I don't wait the 30 mins after drinking so something before I eat. I've had a few sips with a meal. (We're allowed no more than 2oz) If I drink more than that, I can tell the difference and it isn't very pleasant. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  2. I have not had true hunger but yes your head can mess with you. The best thing to do is make sure you take acid medicine. Sometimes acid can mimic hunger. If you aren't sure if it's true hunger or head hunger drink some Protein. If the hunger goes away then it was true hunger if you still have that feeling then its head hunger. Best to come up with a plan, take a walk, start a craft or something to occupy your time. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    3 days post op troubles

Glad to hear it got somewhat better. The 0 appetite is normal. I'm 7 months out and still have no appetite. Some Drs (mine included) require patients to crush pills for a few weeks post surgery. I wasn't able to swallow pills for a month but that lasted 2 weeks post surgery. (Crushed pills are nasty) I still get things "caught" so I have to space out my meds too. Definitely look into taking an anti acid Med. Acid gets worse when you lay down. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Food

By her other posts it doesn't seem like she was given much information. I'm so glad my surgeon requires a 7 month mandatory nutrition class. I was extremely prepared and aware of what my life would be post surgery. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Where did you have surgery? Were you educated at all before hand? It bothers me that doctors perform this surgery without giving clear instructions to their patients. A nutritionist (nut) would help you a great deal. If your surgeon does not have one available to you, you really need to find one that is bariatric qualified. If you don't have a meal plan or access to a Nut. There are TONS of bariatric meal plans online Here is one with a lot of great information http://www.obesitycoverage.com/the-big-gastric-bypass-diet-guide/ Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Also the mini chopper helped me tremendously during this stage. http://m.jcpenney.com/blackdecker-one-touch-chopper/prod.jump?ppId=pp5006241515&selectedSKUId=78003620018&selectedLotId=7800362&fromBag=true&quantity=1&cm_mmc=ShoppingFeed-_-GooglePLA-_-Food%20Processors-_-78003620018&utm_medium=cse&utm_source=google&utm_campaign=food%20processors&utm_content=78003620018&gclid=CIurpNGnv84CFYokhgodYa0DoQ&kwid=productads-adid%5E60019616978-device%5Em-plaid%5E81646490018-sku%5E78003620018-adType%5EPLA Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Food

I was allowed mashed potatoes during the puréed stage. The rule was Protein first, vegetables then starches. I never got past the protein though. I could only eat a couple tbs and was done. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  10. @@OutsideMatchInside I've found that most stores do not have very good choices for Protein drinks. Or they're not cold in stores like Walmart. It's depressing actually that they offer these assumed healthy drinks and they're junk, same with the bars. Best thing to do is predetermine where you could eat while out. I have researched menus and nutrient information for a couple of local spots. When going out with a group or to a new place I'm on my phone looking it up. It's time consuming and sometimes a pain but a lot easier for me to decide when I'm looking at the menu and I already have a plan. I agree with the cooking chili at home and find Wendy's chili to be nasty at best.

    Caffeine post op?

Carbonation will cause bloating and discomfort in some and be more noticeable because of how small our stomachs are. I have tried soda post surgery and do not like the feeling at all. I have a few sips and that cures my desire. Well before the amount to cause that sensation. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    4 months post op

I'm 7 months out and have lost 70.. 60 in 4 is a amazing!! I don't buy the 6 months honeymoon. Sure its easier to lose for a time period but it's definitely not limited to the first 6 months. The best advice I have been given is not to compare myself to anyone on this journey. It will only steal your joy. We're all going to be different. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  13. I've been in a slow losing phase for months, happy at the overall result but wanting the scale to move more. I keep plugging on, doing what I'm suppose to and trying new things but still sit just beyond goal. Stresses from losing my job and my husband losing his. Deciding to go back to school (after 25 years) and taking placement test has taken a toll on my mind and eating habits. (Not eating enough) Knowing I can do things better I add stress to everything thinking I'm not doing my best. Then I go to the Drs. They look at my blood work, weight loss rate and say...wow you're doing really well. You're ahead of the game, you shouldn't have hit this weight loss amount till 11-12 months out. How we perceive things most of the time is not reality. Learning to not be so hard on ourselves is hard. Learning to see myself how others see me is also hard. I need to take a deep breath and realize it's not as bad as it may seem and keep going. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Random Thought/Question

I tried ice cream at 4 months post op and it made me sick and have no desire to try it again. I've tried bread and it's not as good as I remember I've always hated rice, unless it was sushi but I had sushi and it didn't sit well, even just the 2 slices of a roll. I stuck to my 6 week restriction gradual diet, all of these "test" were when I was cleared for regular food. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  16. Yay!! I'll never weigh that little my son is skin and bones haha Weighing less than my husband is one of the best things in the world!! And I have him beat by 20lbs now Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Curious questions...

I still don't think about food, never feel hungry and have to remind myself to eat but I know it will return. As far as gaining the weight back. I'm only 7 months out but there have been plenty of people I know who has had surgery and gained all back plus more. I agree with Dave.. What happens all depends on you and your commitment. 20. A revision from sleeve to bypass will get rid of the reflux according to my surgeon. It's a possibility for me because I had a hiatal hernia wild moderate reflux. He said that he still recommended the sleeve but that a revision could be in my future. A re-sleeve may not be possible. Once your insurance kicks in they'll be able to do a Upper Gi to see how big/small your stomach is Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

It's very possible that you too have developed a food allergy. It's common after surgery. Wait a week or two and try it again. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
