    Protein Drink witch one

I also love Premiere Protein! The chocolate is my favorite. However you may not be able to tolerate it as well after surgery. My Nut said to wait till about 6 months Post Op to try them again.

    Protein Drink witch one

http://thegoodcalorie.com/is-your-protein-high-quality/ Here is a great resource on Protein powder PDCCA scores. I just tried the unjury chicken Soup tonight. It was surprisingly good.
  3. I hope he allows it. I mean those physicals are pretty basic. One thing I know are PcPs and reading EKGs is that sometimes they overreact. I have an elderly Man that I take care of, his EKG showed a abnormality and she scared him. Faxed his EKG to his cardio, demanding he have a stress test and once his Cardio saw it...and repeated the EKG he says "there is a small abnormality, but nothing to worry about". Scared a 90 year old for nothing. Having a second pair of eyes will not hurt, especially since he's so against it
  4. My surgery isn't until Jan 4 and for some reason this post has me excited
  5. My Dr gave me this list strainer Measuring cups/spoons Baby/toddler utensils blender scale
  6. It looks like I will be dropped off picked up unless they allow someone to stay the night with me. We live an hour away from the hospital and my surgery is scheduled for 3pm! My husband works nights so he won't be able to stay. My mom has to be at work early so unless they allow my 20 year old stay, I'll be solo.
  7. Question.. Does you PCP have to do your pre-op physical? I would check to see if you can get your pre-op/EKG repeated by a Occupational Medicine clinic (one that does DOT physicals). My doctor said if I couldn't get into my PCP I could go there.
  8. 2 days post op I will still be on clear liquids. 3-4 days post op I will be on full liquids (Protein drinks, yogurt, Jello exc). During the full liquid stage all of it contributes to the daily intake.
  9. Also make sure you sip the water. They told me to use small cups or medicine cups during this phase so I don't drink fast.
  10. On day3 post-op my instructions say to increase up to 4 oz per hour based on my toleration. After a week or so we should be able to drink 6-8 cups a day

    Needs recipe ideas

I found a new app yesterday called baritastic, it has a few recipes in there. One that I am going to try is the eggs baked in avocados.
  12. insurances have all different requirements...some doctors have programs you must follow. Some insurances/doctors have nothing to do before surgery other than the 2 week pre-op liquid diet..some don't even require that. My insurance required a 6 months supervised diet. (My surgeon required 7 months) I lost 8lbs. More importantly they educated me and that will carry a whole lot further. My 2 week pre-op liquid phase is about 1000 cal a day. I imagine I should lose some..hopefully a lot. How much you lose will be determined on what kind of liquid diet you are on.
  13. 1-2 oz every hour on stage one. I wouldn't push it. You don't want to be in pain.

    Hospital stay question

My surgeon said 2 days. I won't start fluids until the 2nd day when my upper Gi comes back clear. Then I have to keep stuff down.

    Feeling [not so] hopeful ????

I feel this way! I have completed everything and more that my insurance company requires. It's just that feeling of having everything in my grasp and expecting the bottom to fall out. Is it unnecessary stress..anxiety...fear? Most definitely, but it's real. Ugh
  16. My full liquid diet after surgery includes light yogurt (with no stir ins), strained low fat cream Soup, Protein drinks, Jello, skim milk, sugar free Popsicles. I would buy enough of these items for your first 2 weeks. Also make sure you have your supplements. I'm excited too.. I'm scheduled for Jan 4

    Can VSG work with coffee?

My surgeons team said I can have decaf in the hospital (with no cream or sugar)

    pre opt experiences

I'm surprised a sleep study hasn't been ordered. Although most insurances say below 40 bmi with 2 conditions. It wouldn't hurt to request a study though.

    hernial hernia

Most surgeons will repair the hernia at the time of wl surgery. Mine was detected during my upper Gi and the Egd. Since gerd/reflux is common with the sleeve, repairing them will lessen the chances of you developing it. My surgeon said in severe cases revision to the bypass is needed. Knowing this I'd say insurances are eager to pay for the repair than to pay for a second surgery.
  23. January 4th!!!! I can hardly believe that I have a date (they couldn't do December because I need a hernia repair and it takes longer) Yay!!
  24. This is my biggest struggle too. I've lost about 8 lbs during my 7 month supervised diet. We're in this together
  25. My last "supervised diet" educational class is tomorrow... Woo hoo for these 7 months flying by. On my way home from work my Doctors office called. They had some cancelations and want to see me right after my class tomorrow. So it looks like I could have my surgery in December after all.. A little scared/nervous because my mind was set on January. Oh my!
