  1. Day 6 of the pre-op diet...lost 7 lbs so far.. Great right? Well my husband says to me, keep doing this till you hit your goal and you won't need surgery... Um this diet is not substainable for a long time period. I would go insane..
  2. I'm getting the sleeve with a moderate hernia repair. I've had issues with gerd.. Thought I was having a heart attack once or twice. My doctor said there is a slight chance for a revision but will probably be on a acid reducer forever.
  3. Started this at 215lb, I'm 5'2" During my 6 months supervised diet my nut told me not to lose more than 13 lbs. I watched what I ate, exercised some and lost 8 lbs. My insurance approved me in 24 hrs. My doctor's requirements were to lose, maintain or not gain more than 5. Use these 6 months to develop good eating habits. See if your hospital or dr has support groups. Most Drs won't start your 2 week pre-op until you're approved. Then all bets are off, stick to their program so that you shrink your liver. I will say making the good food choices in the 6 months before has my mind prepared for after.

    January VSG

    12th here too
  5. Pb2 is amazing... Just not sure it's approved during the 2 week pre-op, check with your nut
  6. It's getting better for me too.. Tonight they wanted to go to the local pizza place. I brought my dinner with me. I didn't have the desire to sneak a taste today.
  7. When I would get Herbalife shakes they added sugar free pudding to the recipes. It's just like a table spoon or so. I would think that it may be too thick if you added more.
  8. I am Jan 12th. My doctor has me taking a multi vitamin to offset the lack of nutrients. I will say that the exhaustion isn't something I was expecting. So be prepared to take naps
  9. I wasn't prepared for the desire to have real food during this 2 week pre op liquid diet...every smell is magnified.. Ugh sipping on my shake while hubby is eating pizza..Lord give me strength

    Which Weight Counts?!

I yoyo'd through my 6 months of clearance. I ended up with an 8 lbs weight loss. Have you called your insurance and asked them what the requirements are? They would be the ones that could answer about specific requirements. Your doctor/nut could be the one requiring the loss and it have nothing to do with your insurance. Some doctors do this for you to prove your commitment to losing.

    confued about pre op diet

I would stick to your protein drinks until you know for sure. My plan includes veggies, oatmeal, applesauce, yogurt, jello and pudding. Also to have 4 protein drinks, 2 with milk and 2 with another liquid.
  12. I have a friend who had bypass when her twins were 3, she said that she'd wished that she had the surgery before getting pregnant so that she would've had more energy. However I know the strong desire to have a child. I was there and if I had someone tell me to wait 2-3 years I would've not been happy And probably would not have listened. If you have no underlying conditions..I would go for it
  13. I will speak from personal experience here. The most important thing is for you to do is be healthy. I don't know if you have any conditions but high blood pressure, diabetes and other conditions is not healthy for the baby. I had my two children in my 20s when I started having signs high blood pressure. My daughter had a low birth weight (5lbs 15oz) due to my pressure. I also had countless other issues. Later in my late 30s..considerably heavier, my blood pressure was worse and heartbreakingly I had two miscarriages. I know women can be heavy and completely healthy. If you're one of them that's wonderful but if you have issues, a pregnancy can be extremely difficult on you and the baby.
  14. If you're on the Nuvaring, that is what is keeping you regular. You won't know if you're ovulating until you are off birth control.
  15. This is refreshing to read. I have a HH. They are repairing my hernia at the same time as my sleeve. Praying for relief. My surgeon did warn me that it could get worse and revision to a bypass may be in my future.
  16. Pre-op take 2 begins Tuesday... Thankfully the holidays are over (food wise) now to get the house in order for when I have the surgery good luck everyone

    Echocardiogram HELL NO

My pcp did my ekg, so glad I didn't have to see a cardio. I've had my share of cocky doctors. Glad you stood up.
  20. I am having hernia repair also. I had to have an ostomy for about 6 months and now I have an incisional hernia. Will you have to have an incision for repair? My surgery will be robotic laparoscopy. It's kind of neat/scary all at the same time that my surgeon will be at a computer.
  21. Ugh another date change... Trying to stay positive. January 12th now.
  22. A family member said to me the other day..."you don't need to do this". I replied "well 5 different medical professionals are in agreement that I do and I believe them. "
  23. My surgery will take 3 hrs but I am also having a hernia repair so that takes longer.
